If you get newspapers in those plastic sleeves, save them and put her arm in them and use tape to seal it up. Not exactly the fashion statement but even getting the waterproof ones wet make it irritating.
If the break was not too severe ask if they can fashion a plastic splint of sorts. They use the low temp flexible plastic, mold it and let it harden at room temp and then attach velcro. Then it can get wet and she can take it off to clean her arm and get out anything that might make its was under the splint.
My daughter broke both arms - 1 at a time and the second time we asked and got the splint. Basically I told the doctor if he has to cast it he would be taking her home with him.She was so sensitive to anything on her, we cut out tags all the time, that the cast was a nightmare.
My son breezed through his broken arm in summer without issues. By that time we figured out a trick or two.
Good luck.
Thank you for the tips....her break was pretty severe so they had to cast it. She has Sensory Integration Dysfunction, so you can only imagine HOW BAD this is for her---she is SO oversensitive to ANYTHING touching her. So far she is doing well, but tells me at least three or four times a day that she wants her old arm back and wants the cast off NOW!!! We haven't even made it two days yet!!! Six weeks is going to be TORTURE!!!!!!!

10 days baby!!!!!!
Tomorrow is single digits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Diane---we now how excited you all must be getting!!!! I can't wait to hear about all the fun you all are going to get into down there!!!!! Enjoy it girlie!!!
