just wondering... does anyone enjoy this attraction? I've seen it once, and I thought, I don't ever need this again. It's great for an AC break from the heat/humidity, but I'm just curious if anyone really enjoys it and what it is about it people enjoy?

I liked the original version as lame as it was.
This new version is not my cup of tea. While watching it I was thinking how nice roasted bird would taste!
It is loud and very boooooring.
I saw it once and until they fix it, I won't see it again.

That's so sad. I love the Tiki Birds, it is something I look forward to every visit. It is so cheesy that it is cute. My kids like it too, of course they are 4 and 1 and have not been in a year but I know they will like it just as much as there Mother.

The Enchanted Tiki Room is a must see for DH and myself. More important than Dumbo (seriously!).

"All the birds sing words and the flowers croon"

I can take or leave it, others in the family love it. I liked the old version; now when Gilbert Gottfried starts up, I wish I had earplugs.

DW and I both enjoy The Tiki Birds and see on most trips. :goodvibes :wizard: :wave2:

We always end up doing it, usually if we are looking for a place where we can sit down and cool off. The last two trips there really haven't been lines for it. My entire family like the old version much better.

Even though this attraction has been modernized to a certain degree, it still has some of the charm of the original. Tiki Birds has a magic that doesn't exist in many modern rides. Yes, some of the newer rides have great state of the art special effects, but they don't seem to transport you to that childhood feeling of wonder which is what is supposed to set Disney apart from a place like Universal Studios. I can see how the more cynical among us might find Small World, Tiki Birds Country Bears or Carousel of Progress to be "cheesy," but WDW is the land of the Mouse after all. I happen to love these attractions which, not coincidentally, were designed when Walt Disney was a living person, not just a brand to market.

I loved the orginal version - at first I hated the "under new management" twist, but it's grown on me! :) I do hope to see the orginal in DL again some day! :)

In the times I'd been as a kid, we'd never really taken the time to do the 'small' stuff (Tiki Room, Treehouse, etc). But the last time we were in the park, thanks to the old E-Ride Night program, we got to skip the big lines during the day and focus on the smaller stuff that we never got to do.

That said, we dug the Tiki Room. There aren't that many of the "old-school" attractions left (even if it has changed), so that's always nice.

Add us to the list of Tiki lovers!! They say that humor is a sign of intelligence :rolleyes1 Not that *I* would know any thing about that!! :rotfl2:

Seriously, we do love the Tiki room - we bought the DisneyWorld CD only because it had the Tiki song on it!!

We're used to being called 'weird' :teeth:

We love the Tiki Birds! We know all the words to both versions of the song. We are always the last ones out of the show. My DDs have to listen to Iago until he stops talking.

I was a HUGE fan of the original Tiki Room. It was a must every time I went. Many days I got to do it more than once. (Parents were fans, but not that much :teeth: )

I saw the "Under New Management" show last May when we were there, and I hated it. The pre-show was okay, but inside was horrid. :sad2: i kept thinking of stinky cheese.

Fortunately for me, DH2B just brought home a new CD. It's commemorating the Happiest Celebration on Earth. And on it is the original Enchanted Tiki Room. :Pinkbounc I can only listen to it now, and just hope they fix it back to the way it was!!!

Love the Tiki Birds.......even with the poorly done new version, I still
think "classic Disney" whenever we are there.

Personally, I love the Tiki Room, but not for the reasons you might suspect. It's a tradition for my family to do the Tiki Room and then when we exit, we veer left to the Citrus Swirl stand just outside the doors and enjoy a citrus swirl. For those of you who swear by the Dole Whip, these are very tasty, too. They are a twist cone with vanilla ice cream and frozen orange juice. It's a MUST DO for me!

I also was a big fan of the "old" version, but the new one has grown on me, and I must hit the Tiki Birds every time I go. I am just fascinated by watching the mechanics of the singing ... everything ... especially the totem poles with the eyballs! I just love it!

We love the Tiki Birds - DD11 was terrified on her first visit, at age 5, but once she relaxed and realized it was all pretend it became her favorite. We always tease her about the Tiki Birds. I especially love "In the still of the night" sung by the Tiki Gods, and Polynesia singing that she will "squeeze ya!". So cheesy, but funny too! And last time I stayed until the very end, despite the stares from the CMs, and heard the Gilbert Gottfried bird say, "I'm tired - I think I'll go over to the Hall of Presidents and take a nap." Just great..,.
