Arts and Crafts **Tie Dye Mickey ears shirts directions**NEW NEW PICS LAST PAGE**

I think I may have been EATEN by the tie-dye bug! And my sister wants to do her sheets! :lmao: My nephews are coming down tomorrow and they want to do some shirts, too.
I was putting laundry away today and ended up pilfering a couple more shirts from DS4's dresser! I am now firmly against white shirts (well, the kids are). I took pics today, but I cannot figure out how to post them.
I also made a Mickey head shirt for DH and I. They didn't turn out as well as the kids' ones. Ah, well. Back to the drawing board (the sewing board?)!

How do I private message you PixieDust 32? I am new to this whole discussion board thing.

Love these!

Hi, sorry for not posting lately :( we're getting ready to go to the beach and been really busy!

So, here a pic of these Halloween T's I made last year for these girls :)

I used stitching and rubber-bands around my mickey heads. I still had to go back and use a bleach pen. Any ideas of what I did wrong?

Question: We are basting our Mickey heads...does it matter if we go ahead and gather them and put the rubber bands on now or should we wait until we get ready to soak them in soda ash? Roxy, I saw where you waited until you soaked them in the soda ash before you put on your rubber bands. I am asking because I'm waiting for my Dharma order to come in and am trying to cut down the amount of steps when we get ready to dye. Thanks!

You can soak them after or before it doesn't really matter, the Mickeys you can go ahead and put the rubber bands after you done gathering.

Hey Pixie, here's a question for you. Have you found a dharma color that gives you a true hot pink or neon(ish) pink? I have the dye CALLED hot pink but its really more bubblegum. I'm looking for something like a pink highlighter or slightly deeper. I was thinking about maybe mixing some fuschia with hot pink and seeing how that turned out but I figured I'd see if you've had any luck with this first.

crazy question: Can I mix brands of dye? I bought a jacquard kit but it didn't have black, so I bought a tulip black quick dye. Will these work together?

Thanks in advance!

Alright, my shirts are bagged up. I already know that the dye blead through the rubber bands from the mickey heads - I am just hoping that I don't have a lot of white. There is no time to do this again. Fingers crossed! How long do I have to let them sit at a minimum? I used the Dharma dyes.

Thank you for the quick response. I read the label more carefully, it is called "Tulip one-step dye" It comes as a powder in the bottle ready to add water and use. Is this fiber reactive or no?
