Arts and Crafts **Tie Dye Mickey ears shirts directions**NEW NEW PICS LAST PAGE**

PS -- I love how you offset the Mickey head on the red and black shirt, and the rhinestone MH is great. You are very precise!

Oh, I just thought of something, what if after I make the black & red shirt, I add rhinestones instead of using a bleach pen???

You can do that too if you like the rhinestones, it would look really nice. :thumbsup2

OK, this is not tie dye but I wanted to share with you guys.

I made this shirt with Crystals Rhinestones, it was a little hard because I had to put one by one and time consuming but it turned out nice, I think. :goodvibes

Pixie and friends....just an offshoot of this topic.....I get my shirts at Salvation Army and/or Goodwill. It sometimes takes a couple of visits but the selection is fantastic, all sorts of necklines, sizes and quality for very low prices, often $.99 each. Just a thought....

I did my tie dye t-shirt last night/this morning. Here's the results:

Last night, I wasn't sure, it looked pretty messy and like the black was going to cover up all of the red. So I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I unwrapped it and washed & dried it, although I would have liked less white.

This was also an experiment on the dye. I made a tie dye t-shirt in October for Halloween:

which didn't use much black dye. So I froze the bottles of yellow, orange, and black. For this shirt, I only bought red and pulled the black out of the freezer. It worked pretty good, looks the same as the 1st shirt I did.

The shirt looks great! I'm glad to hear that the frozen dye would work after so long.
When working with black you always going to see a lot of messy black but don't panic, it would all go away. Next time squeeze more dye into the folds for less white, but it looks perfect!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Thanks! I just ordered a Faded Glory 100% organic cotton hoodie that I think I'm going to try next. We also have a family trip planned to WDW this summer so I'm trying to get everyone on board for matching t-shirts for 1 day. It's hard when the "kids" are 20, 18 and 15!!

Tell me about it! They no longer wear what you want them to wear.
Have fun and let me know how it goes.

Well, my first set is in the washing machine now, they turned out fantastic! I am really happy with them, not sure I will need the bleach pen even! I will make an attempt at posting pictures later, never have but I will try it.

UGG!!!

We tried to make these, only one came out looking like Mickey!
2 came out looking more like hearts and the other turned out like a big blob!:confused3

I am thinking I can cover the blobs with a transfer and maybe get 3 more shirts and dye and try again.

Ok i just re-read the whole thread! :surfweb:
I am NOT giving up!!
Oh YES we WILL have these mickey head shirts!! :goodvibes:

I think I will try again with these pointers!
Smaller basting stitches
tighter rubber bands around the mickey head
Wrap plastic around mickey head when done

I am hoping that is all I did wrong!
