Arts and Crafts **Tie Dye Mickey ears shirts directions**NEW NEW PICS LAST PAGE**

I have done regular tie-dye many times in the past but dont' have time for trip in three weeks and just stumbled on this today on pinterest. Anyone have any suggestions on how to modify this to get a mickey head on it? I love the idea and the way it looks at end, but I would want me a mickey on there!

Thanks for any suggestions

You could trace and baste and rubber band the mickey head...cover it really well with Saran Wrap...scrunch the rest of it up and paint it..then let it dry...dye the mickey head...let it sit overnight...then take out the rubberbands and rinse the mickey head out...should be what you are looking for!

Iron on transfer?

you take freezer paper cut out your stencil (using a cricut machine is really easy to do this) then you iron the freezer paper to the shirt then paint - the freezer paper keeps the paint from getting on the rest of the shirt

I think you can check you-tube for videos

that is my son wearing the one I tried doing - it is using the Swirl Mickey head that MorgansMom2000 created for SCAL/MTC

here is a you tube that explains - kid doing it so you know it is really easy

That is awesome! Thanks so much! I am going to try that.

I'm thinking getting the glow in the dark paint to outline it - should help after Wishes on keeping up with everyone

A friend of mine used Elmer's fabric glue to make a swirled Mickey head in the center of her shirt and then uses a spray bottle to "paint" the shirt. It turned out really nice.

I'm pretty sure I read something about this in the thread, but I can't find it..

I tried red dye for the first time recently, and it got kind of muddy.. as in, it got a lot of the white areas pinkish. I've never had that problem with any other color.. is it something about the red, or was it just a fluke? Is there any way to prevent that?

Thanks!

I did an Italian themed pair of shirts for a friend of mine and my white areas definitely turned pink and I had to wash them a couple times to get that to go away. This last set I did with the onesies, I'd finally ponied up and bought the synthropol from Dharma and all my white areas were WHITE. It makes a big difference.

I am trying to figure out how to make christmas themed tie-dyed shirts for my upcoming trip (we are planning on going to MVMCP). I just have to figure out how I am going to dye them and get the desired mickey head on them.

We use floss! Going to make some shirts for our next trip and this time I get to make a onsie:) Super x-cited! I think we could take a mini vacation on the money Ive spent on tie dye stuff!:lmao:
