Just finished dyeing shirts to wear to MVMCP. When I get them washed out and dried tomorrow, I will post pics.

I just finished a set of shirts... Any clue on getting the dye off of my hands? Shoulda have worn gloves I know!

Here are the MVMCP shirts I made. One has too much white space but the other 2 look pretty good. The 2 colors are oxblood red and avocado, both from Dharma Trading Company.

I ordered Better Black (I wanted my mickey heads to be black, I'm a traditional kind of girl). My shirts are in ziploc bags waiting for me to rinse them at lunchtime tomorrow, so we'll have to wait for the verdict on if Better Black was a good choice or now.

I had a little bit of drama when mixing it. The paper said 8oz of water and 8 tsp. of black dye. I misread and put 8 TBSP! :scared1: So then I added extra urea and water to even it back out, and I think I watered it down too much. We'll see....

the visual learner in me thanks you :) The streched thin I do not have time for one more craft project but these are too darn cute mommy in me curses you ;) Thanks for the very clear directions...I so want to make some of these..but doubt I will have time :guilty: I see them with black and orange for MNSSHP....and red and green for christmas...oh dang ya got my wheels spinning!

I also found a blog post with great instructions/photos...

I am trying to decide if i want to do red and green tie dye mickey shirts.....I want to. but a little nervous.
Any tips for doing the red and green to make it look Christmas-y? I'd like a little white to show, but not too much and definately do not want the the two colors to mix much.
In a much earlier post, someone suggested a bright green and a Chinese red that I will be ordering.
Any suggestions???

Here some Red/Green I made....... I like the red M Mouse better than green, the green looks faded.

Oh... Pixiedust. I need to know how you got them so beautiful. I want my shirts to look like yours. What are your colors? Any other tips?
Jean

Hi Jen...

OK, the colors are the chinese red and bright green. All I do is leave a small space of white between the 2 colors. You can practice on an old t shirt first if you like.

Todays results....All dyes were from Dharma Trading Company. Will post exact colors if anyone wants.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I am going to try this for our family matching shirts!

I am so excited to try this. I love the Halloween black and orange. What color black do I need?

I like the heart. Did you trace and sew that, same as the Mickeys? Please post your colors. Did you do all the steps, soda ash, urea, synthrapol? Thanks.:hippie:
