How soon before your trip do you purchase tickets if buying them through Undercover Tourist?

I followed the thread a few months back when they were behind due to both WDW and Universal raising prices. Have they got back to normal regarding their lead time for shipping out tickets? What is the norm right now?

We are going to WDW 10/13/14 - 10/19/14, and I'm trying to figure out when to order our tickets so that I have them for fastpass+ reservations at our 60 day window.

I would order them a couple of weeks before you are due to book FP+. We bought ours from UCT and I went ahead and paid the extra for faster shipping. It was maybe about $16, but I got the tickets in a couple of days and we still saved a ton of money.

I recently ordered my mom's ticket for our Oct trip through UCT and received the ticket within 10 days. Loving the bonus day on a 4 day ticket....we have the option of going into the park for day 5, but have lost nothing if we don't.

I just recently purchased tickets through them. I placed my order on Wednesday 5/14 at 11:14 am. I received an email saying shipped with a confirmation email that afternoon (approx. 3:30?) and they were delivered Saturday May 17th. I did not pay for expedited shipping and in the need tickets by date I told them I needed them by June 12.

Not sure if its a finances thing holding you back, but I'd go ahead and order them now. You'll save on rush shipping since no rush is required. And you can distribute your trip cost over more time, which is what I like to do to lessen the impact of an expensive Disney trip.

One other thing to remember is that Disney has, in the past, raised prices around this time of year. I believe they did last year. Since they did a price increase not too long ago, maybe they won't this spring. But it wouldn't hurt to lock in the price now before news of a price increase causes another rush on UT.

Excuse me for butting in here, but I'm curious what reasons people have for waiting? I always buy my tickets from wherever I'm getting them the same time I book the hotel and airfare. Is there some advantage to waiting?

Not trying to be snarky :) just wondering if I'm missing out!

I am sure many put off so the tickets will go on future credit card bill instead of current credit card bill. The last ones I ordered took a little longer than previous purchases. (It was about 3 months ago.) This was around the time the thread came out. UT verified due to price increases at WDW and Universal, they are behind due to the huge influx of orders. I have heard no complaints in a long time. I would assume everything is back to normal.

Ah I see, spreading out the damage haha. I like to do it like a bandage but I'm also the type to not use a credit card unless I could pay cash. So I just save up and book in one shot, then pay it immediately. Racking up a lot of JetBlue points that way, so my flights to Florida are often cheap/free*.

* there is still the misc transaction fees

You're giving Disney money earlier for something that does you no good until it's time to book your FP+. If you had that money invested at a reasonable rate of return, it could be working for you the whole time. Sure, a few park tickets isn't going to do much for you, but you could earn enough to give you a 5-10% discount, depending on your portfolio and time horizon. Unless it's burning a hold in your pocket or it feels that good to have everything set in place, it's not financially sound to give away money eny earlier than you have to. Hotels and flights being the exception, given that they have a finite supply.

Thanks everyone for the input. To answer the ones questioning "why wait?" at least from my perspective. No real good reason. This will be the first time we have tried buying the tickets from someone other than Disney. We have always seen UT on the websites and felt comfortable with them. Then, the price increase causing the slow shipping response hit around the time we had booked our vacation. As comfortable as we were with UT, we decided to wait a little while and make sure the price increase was the only issue they were battling. Now, I guess it's more of a case of do we need them yet?

After seeing everyone's feedback, I believe we will make our purchase after the next mouse savers newsletter.

Has any one ordered from UT and had to pick up their tickets where they say at UPS near Universal?
I had to wait till last minute to get tickets. It is too late to have them expressed unless overnight and I dont see that option.

I bought them the Friday before Memorial Day and had them on like June 2nd...I believe this was due to USPS being closed, not so much UT processing time.

As for MouseSavers, you only save about $2/ticket depending on what you're getting (we got 6 day adult hoppers), so unless you're making a large purchase it isn't much of a savings.

I just went to look at ticket prices, but the 'Private Link' from the May 15 newsletter isn't working. Do they expire each month?

No,usually you go right in through the month. Must be UT site. Funny I got the same thing when I tried to order a ticket before (the swamp message? Haha)
If you still click on the top where it says to purchase tickets it still opens up with the moussavers seal & you could still order. Had no problem ordering with the discount a couple of hours ago. I don't know what was up with the weird screen when you click the link. :worried:

Undercover Tourist just did a big site upgrade, which changed some of the URLs somewhat. It's causing our newsletter link to go to a 404 page.

You can still get the newsletter prices, but it's an extra step. Click the newsletter link, then just click the "Shop Discount Tickets" button at the top of the page, then select "Orlando", you'll get to the ticket page and it will still remember that you came in through the newsletter link. You'll get the special newsletter prices. You should see a yellow box on the right side of the page that says, "Welcome MouseSavers.com" and then some text that begins "Enjoy your special prices." If you see that text, you're seeing the newsletter prices.

Undercover Tourist is working on fixing the problem, and of course we'll have new links sent out with the newsletter in a couple of days. Sorry for the inconvenience.
