Apropos of probably nothing; one of the benefits of booking a package thru WDTC is that if you have to cancel EVERYTHING is refunded, including the tickets (subject to the cancellation policy). Normally WDW tickets aren't refundable, although they retain their value after expiration which is fine IF you know you will be able to use them at a later date.

We live 3000 miles from WDW and are entering the age where 'every trip may be our last'. So although we pay more for tickets as part of a package than if we bought them 3rd party, if we have to cancel a trip we aren't 'stuck' with tickets we may not be able to use in the future.
That is a really good benefit, actually. So if I call to purchase tickets from Disney, will that then make it a package? When I booked our rooms, I was told if I cancelled within 8 days I would lose one night's stay for each room. How does it work if it's a package then?
I'm still trying to figure out where we're staying our first night, too. We'll probably get there around 7:00ish and won't go to any parks, just supper. So far I haven't been successful adding a night to our reservation.

Not to my knowledge, no. I've never actually done it, but I was told that if you have a room only you have to call Disney and ask them to 'convert' it to a package.

Packages are room & tickets and optional dining plans. Usually a couple of luggage tags and an 'extras' book. I have no experience as far as packages & multiple rooms. I don't know if you'd book that as one package or if you have to do a package per room.

Payment in full 30 days out.

Package Refunds are;

Full refund if cancelled more than 30 days before check in
$200 fee if cancelled 2 to 29 days before check in
NO refund if cancelled 1 day or less before check in.

Policy doesn't apply to airfare and 3rd party hotels. Here's the full info;

FWIW, we're spending our night before arrival in Lake City. The closer you get to Orlando the more expensive lodging is. But we're driving and it's far enough to 'kill some time' before check in, pick up groceries, etc. I didn't want to pay 'Disney Rates' just to arrive and lay my head on a pillow.
