Ticket upgrade question

I have read the "Admission & package FAQ" sticky (thanks Dan!), and I still have a question.
We have booked a Magic Your Way Package through AAA (6 day park hopper option), and paid our deposit for our family Christmas trip.
Now my wife and I are kicking around the idea of going in May also (without the kids). Can we upgrade our tickets (my wife and I) when we get to WD in Dec.?
I was thinking about upgrading to 10 day no expire tickets to cover our trip in May or maybe even 1 10 day no expire for her and an AP for me so we can get a room discount in May.

Does anyone know... can we upgrade and just pay the difference at Guest Relations ?

Ok, so I think I can do this. But I still have some questions.
Again we've purchased a MYW package w/ 6day park hopper option and would like to upgrade to a 10day no expire for my wife and an AP for me for a future trip in May.

We arrive late 9-10pm on a WED night.
My plan would be to check into the hotel and hit guest services right away (if there's anyone there that late), turn my 6 day (completely unused) into a AP. Will I get the pass right away? Can I add the DDE and use it right away? :confused3

I checked with AAA about making the upgrades now and they wanted me to un-book and re-book with room only and purchase tickets seperatly.
I would prefer to leave all of our reservations as is and do the changes when we get there.

The only Guest Relations likely to be open after 10 pm are at DTD. Assuming you make it there before they close, you will get the real activated AP right then.

But you will not be able to get the DDE. For that you must call the DDE number directly - (407) 566-5858 - and it's only open Mon-Fri from 9 to 5. You can call Thursday morning and they will arrange for a temporary DDE letter that you can use to be picked up at Epcot Guest Relations after 5:30 pm on Thursday.
