ticket upgrade and options questions

We are going to WDW from 6/28 to 7/5 with the family and already have purchased 5-day park hoppers (we also have previous PHPs with all of the plusses left).

My wife and I are also planning on going back in January, as she is running the Disney Marathon. We'll be there 2-3 days.

Questions I have are:

1) Can you trade-in/upgade your 5-day PH passes (unused) to APs? If so, where can I do that?

2) Would it be smart for me to do this? Not sure if the combined number of days would make it worthwhile.

You can do this at any of the Guest Services windows at any of the parks. I would use the old passes with just the plus options for the plus options since they have no cash value and you can only use one pass per trade up.
