Ticket Question

We are renting points for March 15 2018 and buying 3 day tickets.
Since we made that reservation we bought a resale contract that wont close until February21, 2018.
After we buy tickets as non-dvc members can we upgrade to AP once we become members? I know we can buy ap now but I was hoping to get a discount with dvc.

I believe you can. They don't know you are or are not DVC members when you buy the regular tickets. If you wait until you have your ID's, you should be able to upgrade to the AP's with the DVC discount. I believe you should "use" the tickets once in order to make sure they are current price and you get the most value for them when you upgrade.

Thanks. Now on a fb group someone said if you as a dvc member upgrade to ap they take off what you paid for the tickets off ythe ap price. It didnt seem right to me, is this true or wishful thinking?

If you are just buying resale now the Annual Pass discounts won’t apply to you, they are only for direct purchases or people who bought resale before April 2016(this date may be wrong).

I believe they are correct. I'll use round fictitious numbers. You paid $200 for your 3 day tickets. DVC AP's are $500. You will only pay the difference of $300 when you upgrade. Like I noted before, you should "use" the tickets to enter the parks before you upgrade in order to get the full/current value of the tickets towards your upgrade. Good luck!

Oops I missed that part - DisneyRegulars is correct. If you bought from Disney, what I said was correct, other than that, no discount, but you can still upgrade to the AP (full price) and get the value of your 3 day tickets towards the cost.
