We are going for 10 days in November, I just bought 4- 8 day hopper passes yesterday via UT. We just decided to use our remaining points to make a quick trip at the end of July, 3 or 4 nights at OKW. I just spent almost $1200 on the hoppers, and now am looking at another $646.00 for 2 day passes. Here are my choices:

1) Cancel the hoppers (will UT charge me a fee even if they have not shipped?), buy an AP to cover this and our next trip?

2) Keep the hoppers, just do other things this trip and skip the parks...(we can get into SeaWorld for free), saving $646?

Here is my other problem: I cannot find the DVC member discount for AP's. I followed the directions through the Member Perk link, I cannot find the ticket store. Either I'm blind, or something is not working on the site. Does anybody know what the new AP price is, with discount, for adult and children? Also, is buying through DVC the only way to get the discount? Final question: Does the AP get activated when it's purchased or upon first use? I'm pretty sure it's based on purchase date, but am not sure.

Decisions, decisions....

I believe you can use your passes from UT to upgrade to an annual pass when you get there in July. I know there is some special protocol to be able to use the gate price vs. using the price you paid UT. I'm sure someone else can explain it.

I believe the DVC AP is around 445 for an adult and 412 for a child (including tax).

My suggestion would be to keep the passes. When you go in July, go through the gate once and then head to Guest Relations and ask them to upgrade the tickets to a DVC AP.

Once used, the ticket will bridge to the new WDW price and that is the credit you will get toward the AP. As long as the new amount isn't more than the AP, you should have no problem. The new DVC AP is around $449.64 (link on website not working today because of the increase--they are probably adjusting the price).

If you cancel the UT tickets, you are going to end up losing out on having bought before the price increase.

Good luck!

Thanks Sandi! I hope we can pull off this last minute trip; wouldn't you know, we have the points, the room is available, it fits our work schedules....but the flights are not cooperating! It's going to cost us $1400 for the four of us for 3 nights? Eeeek. A bit much.

Maybe it will all come together!

Yes, yesterday you could get to the DVC ticket store, but today it is shut down and you can not access it like in the past. I was actually in that site yesterday, but today it's a no go. I'm guessing it will take awhile to get the new pricing loaded into the DVC ticket store. I bought my GS a ticket from UT yesterday in case he goes with us in August...we never know....(he's 17 and not a Disney fan, but he may be bored of summer by August). Anyway if he doesn't go, I'll just use his ticket to apply it to one of our AP purchases in the future. Good luck -- keep in mind that airfare is ALWAYS higher on the weekends and the prices tend to drop Tuesday evening into Wednesday, so check the airfare then!

Thanks--Between the flight costs and the added expense of upgrading to an AP just for 2 more days in the park, this is a decision that I need to sleep on. Now my wife is worried about the heat in Orlando end of July, but it was 99 degrees and humid in NJ on Thursday, so who can predict anything with the weather anymore.

The excitement of a last minute July trip that was coming together so nicely has given way to a cold reality, namely that we'd be spending waaayyy too much money for such a short trip. We had to rent points, the flights were too high and we'd have to upgrade our hoppers to AP's for basically 2 extra days in the park.

So we are skipping out on this trip. :sad1:

I wish the hoppers were good for a year. That would have changed everything! As it is, we'd have to do a no-park trip and that would not be fair to the kids. Looks like we're off to the Jersey shore for the weekend instead...if you can't have the Cape May Cafe, at least you can have Cape May!
