So I keep seeing all these $100 a day, and its $100 to get into MK... Well lets just stop it. Note I normally have seen this from the Disney too-crowded / anti-FP+ people lately trying to say they spend so much money on tickets.

While I understand if you go for just 1 day ever in your whole life you will pay $100 for a MK ticket I will let you in on a little secret. Very Very Very few people on here are going for 1 day either a trip or in their entire life.

Now I am not a financial planner but take my advice you likely are going back to Disney at some point in your life.

As an example
Either A:
8 Days (Hopper+Water Parks) - $405
Or B:
8 Days NON EXPIRING (Hopper+Water Parks) - $651

By the way:
10 straight days of fun (w/ expiration) - $350

So lets stop all this talk about how expensive the parks are at the current time, its the food/hotels/air fair that are expensive. 10 Day trip at $35 a day is a STEAL compared to my Brewers or Packers tickets who happen to be one of the lowest cost tickets in both the NFL and MLB....

By the way this doesn't mean you cant say they should still have more rides, or that lines are two long for your taste, or you should be able to get more FP+ to headliners.... I am just stating in the course of the big picture these tickets are not actually that costly.

I think the point was if you went to the gate and bought a 1 day pass, and that IS $100 per person (I think was $94 or something like that when last I checked).

I would be very careful in making that type general observation and statement.

Many people can not afford the money and time to visit for 8-10 days, and for some a WDW trip is very likely a once in life time experience or only every 3+ years. And yes the park tickets for multiple days may be a value, but the associated hotel, food, and travel costs are expensive. Especially staying 8 or more days, any hotel and food for a family greater then 4 is going to be costly.

And cost is always about value (real or perceived), and everyone is going to have a difference view about whether $100 NFL tickets for 3 hour event or cost of a WDW visit is value for the experience.

Actually, plenty of people go for 1 day. Perhaps, they are in town for a short time, Disney is just one of the things they are doing in Orlando or one day is all they can afford.

Just because Disney wants people to come for 10 days that is not always possible or affordable!

You forgot to say "in my opinion". I think Disney tickets are outrageously priced and there was just a post a day or two ago listing the percentage they had gone up in the last five years or so.

It was ridiculous.

Well, before our next cruise, we have an extra day in Orlando. I will NOT be spending my $100 pp at WDW. It IS too expensive for one day. There are a LOT of people who are in Orlando doing many things and wdw is just one attraction. Ticket price does factor in. We usually spend a week in Disney, and for that length, it is worth it. But on a trip, where a family is doing several different things, one day at Disney is expensive for the vast majority.

couldn't agree more. the winners and losers are different under this system, but you still have winners and losers.

tantrums will continue and those frequent posters with an agenda will continue to obfuscate matters, but before the massive wave of attacks begin, know many agree with you.

I guess I'm one of the very very very few.
This will be my 4th visit where I am only going to one park for one day. Twice with DH, once as a family of 4, once as a family of 6.

Sure if you stay for ten days. It's also $1 or $2 a day if you are an AP holder and go every day.

It's about $60 dollars a day for a five day ticket.

Not sure I see your point here?

Our upcoming WDW trip is visit #16 for me. However, 11 of those were on my parents' dime. Of those, probably 7-8 of them were one day events. We live in NC but would travel to Florida for a week at the beach. Around mid-week, we usually traveled over to Orlando, most frequently to WDW, just for a day. Yep. ONE DAY. I would guess, especially in the summer or around holidays, there are quite a few one day people. A friend of mine who used to live in the area would go just at Christmas (pay the day, no annual pass).

A few months ago, we considered being wild and crazy and driving down just to spend a day in the parks. When we realized it was going to be $398 just to get in the door, we decided we really weren't up for that kind of crazy.

I understand that for example, on this trip, it's costing us more like an average of $65 a day-ish. While most DISers would be going for more than a day, though, there's still a decent percentage who are day trippers.

the problem is too many people can and do afford the parks

Whether tickets are costly depends on your perspective -- how much you can afford and how much you usually spend on vacations. I don't think WDW costs too much, but it costs a lot for many families.

Prices per day only drop significantly after four days. A family of four must buy four tickets. For many families, even one day at the parks is a big investment. They drive for ten or twenty hours, stay at a cheap hotel or share a rental with extended family, and spend one day at MK or, if they're very lucky, three or four days at the parks. Each day, they pay for theme park food and parking. They don't have the time or money to stay ten days to get the most from their ticket investment. They certainly don't if they're staying onsite, especially if they have more than four in their family.

Yet you have went back 4 times, so not 1 time in your entire life. Save the money knock out a never expiring ticket and you will be saving a lot of money over time.

The very first time my kids went to WDW was with my in-laws and DW when they went on a Florida vacation. (Ol' Dad got to stay home and work. :( ) They were down there for a USMC reunion and stopped through Orlando on the way home. They allotted 1 day and went to the MK, so they had 1-day tickets.

Even though Disney would prefer people come for multi-day visits, my guess is there are a ton of folks who are more like the scenario described above. And for them, the $100 number is the truth.

You're right. They don't cost a lot.

As is evidenced by the tens of millions of people who can afford them and crowd the parks.

The multi-day tickets and AP's are too cheap. Too many people can afford them, and the price does not serve as a barrier to entry.

Disney can control demand. They can manipulate demand through pricing.

I haven't eaten at a Ruth's Chris in years. But I know some people who eat there twice a month and rave about it. The only reason I don't eat there is because I think it's expensive, I'll buy a prime rib-eye for $9 and grill it myself.

If Disney charged enough for park tickets and AP's that they made more money when less people bought them, those that do buy them would look forward to a much more enjoyable (less crowded) experience.

Let me clarify something though as it seems a lot more than I thought have went for a 1 day trip its still not 1 day in their whole life is it?

Also I know lots of people who have only been to Walt Disney World 1 time in their entire life. The difference is they are likely not on this Forum talking about ticket prices???

Looks like I was wrong about 1 day trippers but I will stand by the 1 time in their entire life comment. Its better to invest in Disney Tickets that have no expiration  (3x return the second you buy them if you go 1 day at a time to MK, and likely to go up as they raise pricing in the future)

If you have over $600 per ticket on hand, then yes, a 10 day NE ticket will save you a little money. But I would be willing to bet that those families that are visiting the park for 1 day don't have an extra $500 per family member the "invest" in Disney tickets.
