Ticket Prices Increasing June 12th!

Yes. See my first answer in this post.

Thanks - now, as I try to do the math, what happens if the tickets I buy from UT are actually worth more than the AP when I go to upgrade? For example, a 10 day PH no expire will be $608 w/tax in August (based on the chart on post 51) - if I buy that now, I can get it for less than the new A/P price of $553. If my math is correct, what happens to the extra $55 when I upgrade?

I'm trying to figure out if I need to make sure the tickets I buy now will have an August gate price less than the August A/P price.

Thanks!

I used to buy 10-day non-expiring hoppers for that reason! In 2008, the price difference between that ticket and the AP was $2, and the CM at Epcot Guest Relations actually gave me back $2+ tax! When I did the same thing in 2009, the value of the non-expiring hopper from UT was even more than the AP, and I got back no change. I also wasn't expecting any. That's why I bought a less expensive ticket this time to upgrade to the AP.

In 2010 I renewed my AP to get the extra 3-month extension, and used the Give a Day voucher towards the upgrade price.

I still have a 10-day non-expiring hopper, but I am going to use it as is for shorter trips between annual passes, or when I go to Disneyland.

**Another thought for you is to upgrade the 10-day non-expiring hopper to a premium annual pass. That gate price will be $691.19 as of tomorrow.

I am doing the same thing. I am trying to figure out the best ticket to buy in advance to upgrade to a DVC AP to result in the best savings but keep it below the AP cost. So far I am coming up with the 8 day park hopper with Water Parks and more. It makes me nervous to get the one with WP & M since we are not planning on using the water parks. I am hoping that what I have read on here remains true that as long as I do not use a water park entry then I can still upgrade to a regular AP.

Thanks - that answers my question. I'll buy something from UT that will be worth less than the A/P price when I upgrade. I thought it would be strange if they would actually give me back the difference!

We have at least 10 + features left on old tickets for water parks & DQ, so we don't really need the premium A/Ps. Thanks for the suggestion, though! :)

I have a Florida resident weekday pass that expires in September. Anyone know if there is an increase on the renewal of those?

I want to make sure that what I just told my cousin is correct... We're arriving on the 18th but I told her to go on line and buy her tickets today and have them held at will call. She should get the old price, but then be able to get them at will call and have the first day of use on the 18th, correct?

Sorry for the question I tried reading all the posts and not sure if this was already asked.

I have older tickets that are non expiring that i can just save. I go every year, if I buy base tickets today with just the hopper option and not the expiring option, the use does not start until I put them through the ticket machine at the park right. Even if they are nonexpiring and I can us them in August when I go correct?

That way i can save the ones that I have that have the no expiration option.

Hope this isn't too confusing.

Thanks

General rule of thumb - DO NOT buy a ticket intended for upgrade that has a gate price greater than that of your target ticket. Might even want to go a step down in case of a disproportionate increase.

Yes, it looks like those went up $5.

Yes. You've already paid for them at that point. Disney is just holding them for you.

Here's a weird question:

We are going in November and bought a MYW package with 7 day park hoppers, we were planning to upgrade these tix to APs when we get there. However were thinking we'd like to try and pay for it all up front, so were first planning to upgrade those tix to nonexpiring first. Thereby making the price difference about $50 once we get to WDW

I haven't fully paid off my package yet, so here's my question....

If I upgrade those 7 day hoppers today to non-expiring vs. Tuesday, will there be a difference in price even though we haven't fully paid for our vacation package yet?? Essentially, all I'd be doing is calling Disney today and saying, "I'd like to upgrade my tickets to non-expiring".

Unused MYW tickets do not expire. The clock on them does not start until they are used the first time.

If done today, you should only pay the difference at today's prices.

Is the price of the 21 ultimate ticket going up?? If so will have to buy mine today. :confused3

I posted this over on the DVC Planning board, but thought there would be different eyes on it over here.

I put together a little spreadsheet to analyze what current UCT ticket (the Mousesavers discount price) would maximize the bridge to the new gate prices. My assumption from what I read from Cheshire is that after I use the ticket (no matter when it was purchased and for how much) it will be bridged to the current gate price before determining the AP upgrade price, and that I wouldn't get a refund if the current gate price is more than the AP price.

So, a new DVC AP will be $419, $446.24 with 6.5% tax.

A 6 day MYW with no expiration (no hopping or water parks) from UCT is $332.35, $353.95 with tax. After one swipe through the gate, this ticket can be bridged to a current gate price of $389 (excluding tax) and I can have my DVC AP upgraded for $30 (plus tax). Total savings = $56.65 (excluding tax).

The 5 day Hopper with no expiration (no water) and the 5 day with water no expiration (no hopping) are close - a couple dollars less savings because you lose $2 on the current gate price of $421 vs. the DVC AP price of $419.

Is the number of gift cards limited at the ticket window also?

If there is a limit, it is a high one. I upgraded my two-day ticket to an AP at DHS Guest Relations (they are super-sweet in there, I made no less than three visits due to a demagnitization issue ROFL,) and had a huge stack of gift cards. Lots of $25 given to me as Christmas gifts, picked up when I had extra cash, etc, and one large one that would have been enough to pay for the upgrade on its own. The CM was more than happy to work with me -- she checked the balance on each card, wrote it on there with sharpie, and then used the gift cards least to greatest in order to consolidate them down. I think I had no less than eight gift cards. My BFF did the same thing, she had probably half a dozen herself. No problems. :)

No ones mentioned it but I wonder if and when the parking rate will increase?

I think parking kind of does its own thing, not totally sure though. It doesn't go up every year.

One thing I don't recall anyone mentioning was a really interesting change re: park hopping. WPF&M stayed at $55 across the board, but hopping is now $55 for a 2-10 day ticket, but only $35 for a one-day ticket. Not earth-shattering, but it is interesting nonetheless. (Resident hopper is half proportionately, so $17.50 for one-day and $27.50 for 2-10.)

We are going in December, I was going to buy my tickets before the prices went up in August. Came home Friday night and saw the up coming increase and went right to UT and bought them.
