Ticket Prices Increasing June 12th!

Darn it! I booked our pk with Free Dining for Sept. I was going to upgreade DS and mine to AP since we are planning another WDW vacation just within a year. I guess I have to pay $40 more for our upgrade since MYW tix are required on Free Dining pk. :headache:

I think this has been answered but I'll ask to make sure. If a discount, free dining or room rate, comes out in Oct. and we switch our package over to that, will we be subject to the new rates. I think the answer is yes but I wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

Heartbroken that the Premier Passport will be up to $749! :scared1: Our plan was to upgrade while in WDW, since we will go to DLR at least twice in 2012. Now, I can't decide if it even makes sense. Upgrade for just DH and I will be $100 more than we were planning on...even using a TIW discount, and two trips to DL, it seems like the expense just spirals. :headache:

I purchased my tickets as part of a package as was looking to upgrade those to Premium APs when we get down there in July. What value will they use to determine the difference in price? What I originally paid as part of the package or the new prices? At the time I booked, the tickets I purchased were just a few dollars under the price of the PAP. With the price increase, those tickets will be more than the PAP. Will this create a problem since it technically would no longer be an upgrade?

If I'm reading correctly, the price of adding PH to a 1day went down, right? If so, the YIPPEE! That's going to save me almost $40! If I am reading that wrong, then...oh well.

Buy the tickets now, then use them once before you upgrade them. You will get the higher gate price (as of tomorrow) credited towards the cost of the APs.

*Last night I bought one 10-day expiring park hopper from UT @ $318.95. If I use it before upgrading it to an AP, the gate price of the ticket will be $368.49 as of tomorrow.

Nevermind, I should have read the entire thread before I decided to rant. With this, it seems to come out to about the same difference.

I am so happy I came across this thread. Was due to make my final payment on June 17. Tickets going up I believe would have caused my package to go up since I hadn't paid in full. I just went online and paid it in full with one day to go until the increase:cool1:. Thank you!!!

If you change to a new package, you definitely pay the new price for the package. Especially since the package didn't technically exist before (i.e. a "free dining" package for Fall 2011, for example). :)

If you don't use the tickets first, then you will only get credit for the price paid towards the target ticket.

If you USE the ticket before upgrading, you are supposed to get the current gate price of that ticket in value. If the target ticket's price is less than that of your existing ticket, then in general you would not get any money back. You might, but it is not policy to refund money. But this is still likely a good deal for you, as the price of the PAP went up, and your upgrade would now be "free".

Your price should not have gone up. As long as you've paid the deposit on a package that already had a set price, that price should not change.

Well blimey...I didn't notice that! $35 now for PH on a 1-day ticket! I would assume, however, that if you wanted to add days afterwards, you'd also have to pay the extra $20 to bridge the cost of park hopping...

Thanks and this does make it a better deal for us even at par. Funny, the first time a price increase actually saved me money.

I just found this thread and was all set to purchase our tickets through UT with the Mousesavers link but then saw that the tickets won't be processed till Monday. Will I still get the same price as displayed on the website? Or should I just pay the extra $$ and go with the Disney website?

Thanks!!

I ordered online last night, and the price as listed on their site was confirmed. I'm pretty sure the "processing" refers to charging your credit card and mailing the tickets, and it doesn't affect the price.

would the new Startours also encourage an early increase in prices?

Doubt it.

They used to raise the ticket prices in January and then it became August. So now it's the end of June. Just the way they are doing it. As someone on the DIS pointed out, it could be just to hit the summer travel crowds that haven't bought tickets. Could be that bookings without prices for the next year are low, so they needed to get next year prices out, especially because people are planning more in advance now.

I personally don't believe there is much to the why now, so much more than they just did it now.

Ut always keeps the cheaper price on all tix they have in stock

and a big sigh of relief.....

As soon as I saw the email from Mousesavers, I immediately called and changed my package to include tickets (I had been holding off). The CM didn't even know about a price increase to take effect tomorrow, but at least I feel good in the knowledge my package won't go up because I didn't add the tickets at the right time.

Now, if Disney will get on it and announce free dining, I'd be good to go.....;)

If this had any impact on it, then the prices would have increased before the attraction reopened. Disney was going to raise their prices. I don't think any one of us thought otherwise. The question really then became "when?". I think they did it now so to take into account some of the summer travel that they might see. We are only a small percentage of who actually travels to Disney or Orlando. Most people I know don't plan very far out, don't buy tickets in advance, and only do a couple of days of Disney mixed in with other things.
