I received an e-mail from Mousesavers and have read in other places tickets are going up August 3 2008, if your planning on buying any, sooner may be the better idea.

Thanks for the heads up. Figures. I was just about to buy DH's ticket from Undercover Tourist, but was going to wait till the 4th (my CC billing cycle).

raise them to the moon, i'm done with those parks.

Thank god for Florida resident and seasonal passes, that's all I have to say...heh

I'm sure all rates will go up accordingly, even discounted rates (AAA, Florida Resident, etc...).

I have been saving money to buy 4, 10 day tickets for WDW thur AAA so I was really watching this thread so I did call my local AAA and asked if their tickets were going up and she said "No not to her knowledge and they usually know two weeks ahead of time if they are going up, so she doesn't think AAA rates are going to rise".

Ask her to put that in writing ! :rotfl2:

i heard this too and went and bought my DVC APs today online. I printed out my order confirmation (has a bar code) to pick up at will call. I am just wondering if they'll make us pay the higher amount at guest relations. The day they go up is the day we check in. I am not going to get them any cheaper than $348. I wonder what the increased amount will be, i assume all ticket types will go up, even APs and that means DVC APs too. I just hope we still get that $100 off each one!

what makes me mad is Universal is coming out with multi day deals and there's disney RAISING prices, probably to allow for lower attendance lately and down the road.

I got this email too. I can't believe that given the current economy and gas prices, though, that it would be a smart time to raise ticket prices. But then again, it's about time: it's been, what, maybe 3 months since the last ticket increase? :rotfl2:

I posted on previous thread that since Oct 2003 ticket prices are up 40% (at current prices) while the CPI/inflation index is up only 18% in the same time period. Thankfully, the prices of the campsites at the Fort have not gone up as quickly as the price of tickets but that may be a thing of the past with the new reservation system recently installed that can price different rates during your stay (paying a premium for weekend nights or when going from Value to Peak rate periods during your stay).

As our family has gotten older and all the kids are now "adults" for ticket pricing purposes, I've dropped the number of days we spend in the parks per visit. Was 3-4 days per week now no more than 2. That allowed us to have a more relaxing trip with more down days at the Fort or replacing a theme park day with a water park day or a trip to Kennedy Space Center.

I've said too much on this subject in other threads so I'm stopping here :headache:

Called to reserve our tickets today...just in case. The CM "knows nothing about it" I at least booked our tickets. I'll add the meal plan later.

FYI, you can buy tickets now, at the current prices, and they are good until the first time you use them. They NEVER expire, the time doesn't start until the first time you enter a park. If you buy an AP now, you will pay the current price, they won't charge you any more when you redeem the voucher.

I don't know about the regular tickets... but the Fla Res AP's renew on your anniversary date - not the date you activate the voucher. So...in my case, my AP's expire November 6th. If I buy my AP vouchers on Oct 15th and don't activate until November 30th, my expiration date is still Nov. 6th.

If what Mousesavers says is true (and they usually are correct) then look out. Sea World, Busch & Universal rate increases will follow shortly.

My jaded mind can't help but think that the high prices are purposely set to help keep the "riff-raff" out. And that includes the FtW prices. Back in the 90's when just about anyone could afford to camp at FtW...we frequently had some pretty seedy people in the sites around us. This is probably my convaluted mind at work...but I still wonder.

I keep saying it,,and it's only my opinion,,but the new guy runn'n Disney is gonna be the death of Disney,,at least slowly, in the long run.
What better time to raise prices then in the worst our economy has been in 25 years ! I guess raising the tic prices TWICE last year alone wasn't enough for them !

Okay, I'll stop my soap box now. Happy thoughts, Happy thoughts.

I never renew my AP when it expires, unless i have trips coming up that it would pay to renew it. My current AP expires 10-14 but i won't renew it til my next trip. It's a little more money but it buys me time, i can't see renewing something that i won't use for another 6 mos. or so. I usually buy in person, so its activated right away.

I sure do miss the old way when you could renew at the old price and not activate til your next trip. boy, disney put a stop to that!

i still don't get how disney can RAISE when universal just came out for a 7 day pass for $89!!!! they are practically pushing us to other theme parks by raising these prices. I usually have 2-3 trips in the works and right now, i doubt i am going til next june, by then there will probably be ANOTHER ticket increase. what in the world are they THINKING!

They can't compete with Universal's deal, so why try?

I think they're crazy, too, but with their prices already so high, they probably want to get a little more blood out of the turnips while they can. Plus, this sets the bar a little higher in case they don't feel they can raise prices again anytime soon.

For me, higher ticket--and gas!--prices mean that we don't go as often but we stay longer when we do. The incremental cost of adding days is still a deal once you get past the first 3 days or so. That said, I already bought my Universal tickets (on the $89 deal, several months ago when the rumors said it that was ending soon, yet it lives on!). We've never been to Universal before, but we'll be there in a couple of weeks.

Disney, do you *really* want me to come less often and spend some of my time at Universal when I do? I'm already thinking that after this years' trips, my next trip to Orlando may be to see Harry Potter at IOA!

You are not the only one jumping up and down on that soap box!

Thanks for the heads up ...we bought our 1 day tickets today from AAA for our Fort trip next week.

We need 3 day tickets for our April 09 trip, but it's too far away for it to be worth it for us to spend that kind of money right now. Never know what could happen between now and then.
