Ticket price increase?

Disney usually does not give advanced warning. The rumor is that it will be mid February, but that is just a rumor.

I know that Undercover Tourist has previously sold their stock of the tickets at the lower price after Disney announced their increase. They may do the same thing this year. I don't know what other authorized sellers do.

How much time do we have before the February increase kicks in?

No one knows, but it is coming. It has sometimes been announced late on a Friday to go into effect on Sunday, but it may go up one day with zero warning. UCT announced yesterday they will be raising prices, so that to me means Disney has told them prices are increasing soon.

As long as people are willing to pay the prices, they'll keep increasing them. I bought the 1 ticket we needed yesterday. We got caught last year not paying attention and ended up paying the new price just weeks after they went up. :(

If you already have a reservation booked, and then modify it will you still get to keep the ticket prices as they are now?

Not cancel just modify dates

Maybe yes.
Maybe no.

It can be at the discretion of the CM with whom you are dealing.

Where did you see that UCT said this? I looked on their page but didn't see it there. Did they say when their tickets would go up? I wanna be sure to buy from UCT before they raise their prices!

Should I buy from UCT now? I feel like a crazed cyber stalker.:crazy2:

If you have the money, and you know you're going to buy from UCT eventually - sure, buy them now. It's not like they're going to go on "sale" and you will have missed out on a discount. The only direction the prices will go from here is up...

UCT did a blog post. They hinted strongly that they know when the hike is coming and they are selling their current stock at the lower price. They did not announce any dates. There was another DIS thread that had the link.

Please remind me. We don't usually buy regular tickets but need to for others. Does disney still bridge tickets purchased from UT after first use? I'm not sure if my grandson needs a 5 day or 6 day so leaning towards a 5 day if he can just add another day if he needs it mid trip.

Disney does still do the bridging...but YOU need to be proactive about it. Several posts here recently have talked about people having to request a manager because the CM doesn't know anything about bridging....and one post that they were told (I think it was by the manager) that since they used one day of the ticket they can't bridge (which knowing what bridging actually is doesn't make sense).

So be sure that when you go you know exactly how much you should be paying....and be prepared to politely request a manager or even to say "thanks but I think I'll do this later" and walk away if the manager is clueless too. I'm sure at some point Disney may close this precious loophole, but I think before I felt that had happened I'd be trying a few different locations. Remember that the CMs who spend more time doing tickets would certainly know more about bridging than the CMs who mostly deal with other aspects of Guest Services, so you may be best served by going to a ticket selling CM (after you have entered the park once). I have always done ours at City Hall in MK.....only time I had a problem was actually the CM requesting a manager because he had only been in City Hall GS for a few weeks and he was aware of bridging but had never had a Guest request it, and he was so apologetic for us having to wait while he was taught. Since I have a daughter poised to join Disney employ, she was thrilled to death to witness this training, lol. But the manager knew exactly how to teach him once he said "bridging".

I have to point out that price bridging is not in any way a "loophole."
Nor is it something that Disney needs to "close" in order to stop "losing money" when discounted tickets are upgraded.

If Disney did not want to "lose money," they would simply stop wholesaling their tickets to authorized resellers/discounters in the first place.
But, since it is a marketing advantage for Disney to have other dealers out there selling park tickets to the public, they (Disney) DO sell their tickets to these authorized resellers... at a price that is lower than when they sell their tickets directly to the public.
This "wholesale" ticket price makes it possible for the resellers to mark up the price a bit when THEY (authorized resellers) sell the WDW tickets...
and that mark-up is the resellers' profit... what makes it possible for them to support a business reselling Disney tickets.

SO (and this is the key point,) when Disney wholesales their tickets to the authorized resellers...
it is AT THIS POINT that they (Disney) is consciously and intentionally "losing money" on those tickets.

Yes, THIS (the wholesaling) is when Disney is "losing the money" on the discounted tickets.
It is NOT when the guest USES the tickets at the park.
That money has been allocated and accounted-for at the time of the sale to the authorized reseller.
And, again, DISNEY determines the amount of worth of selling these tickets and the value that the
resellers have in moving the "product" (tickets) to more of the public.

WHY is this important to know?
Because Disney needs to make sure that the tickets the resellers sell are of the same value as tickets
purchased at the WDW front gates.
(If they didn't, the resellers would suffer, and that whole arm of WDW ticket sales could collapse.)

So, no, Disney is not "taking a loss" at the point when they PRICE-BRIDGE for upgrading as
they have already accounted for that "loss" (accepting a lower price for that ticket) weeks or months earlier
when they first sold the ticket to the reseller at a wholesale price.

Thanks for the information. In additional to buying 2 tickets from UT with the hopes of adding a day if needed. I actually have an old 6 day base ticket I purchased in 2011 and never used. I'm planning to take a newbie this summer, so am hoping that I can add the hopping feature to this ticket. I'm guessing the ticket will need to be used once first. I plan to take it with me when I visit in April/May so I can convert this paper ticket to the new plastic one. It will need to be attached to a Magic Band for an August trip.

1. Yup.
2. Yes.
3. Good idea.
4. Well, sort of.
It will need to be connected to a MyDisneyExperience account's ticket section.
Then, any MagicBand that is associated with that MDE account can access that ticket.
