Me- Boo, 30 yr old mommy, 5 mos preggers and self-appointed family “cruise director” and DVC fan

DH- Michael 30, laid back vacationer & Homer Simpson’s personality twin- just tell him where to go and when to eat

DD- Isabella, just turned 2 Princess, a go with the flow easy baby who’s been traveling since 6 weeks

Our trip February 24 – March 1 Boardwalk Villas,

Since the forecast called for sunny skies and 80 degrees, we decided to switch around our tentative schedule and make today all day POOL day! We made breakfast in the room, which Isabella finally ate. She does much better eating without all the distractions of parks and characters around. After breakfast we caught the bus to Downtown Disney to walk around a bit. I love how Boardwalk has a cast member at the bus stop with some type of palm pilot gadget letting you know EXACTLY when the next bus is approaching. Kind of cool!

We probably spent a good 10 minutes just watching the popping fountain at DD. Each time all the jets would pop at once, Isabella would let out on of those deep toddler belly laughs. That, as all parents know, is the GREATEST sound on earth! Then it was off to visit the growling crocodile at Rainforest Café. Isabella and the croc are old friends from the restaurant in Chicago- so I imagine she was surprised to see him vacationing too! Next off to the Lego playground where she would have gladly stayed until the cows come home. There’s just something about a slide, especially a covered one, to entice a 2yr old to climb up again and again and again…
After touring World of Disney store where DH found a great golf shirt and Isabella found a Cinderella windup jewelry box, we headed over to MickeyD’s for some fries. We probably ended up feeding half of the fries to the ducks to the delight of Isabella. The ducks, however, were seriously questioning this generous benefactor once we let her out of her stroller to go get ‘em! Several merry go round and train rides later, we decided to grab a quick lunch bite at Wolfgang Puck Express. This was probably our worst decision of the trip. Don’t get me wrong, the food was tasty, but $18 dollars for counter service of one cold ham and cheese sandwich, a side of macaroni and a bottled water is a bit steep. And we’re used to paying downtown Chicago prices. Still, we felt like we should have gotten a side of Vaseline with lunch. (What made things worse, is later that afternoon I was feeling a little nauseous and didn’t have the heart to tell DH that baby thought the rip off lunch wasn’t so hot either and sent it back.) Isabella and I took a nap for an hour or so while DH strolled the boardwalk a bit and read a paper on the veranda.

Once Isabella was awake we told her it was pool time. That was all we had to say, she brought her swimming suit to us. We spent a wonderfully leisure afternoon at Storm Along Bay- across the lake from BW at the Yacht Club. She loved the sand pool but heads up to toddler parents- she was a little uneasy on her feet in the middle of the wading pool and decided to stick to scooping sand in her pail on the edge. Later she found more ducks to chase including a mommy duck with 5 babies. I warned her that the mommy duck wouldn’t like it if she chased the babies, but the angry quacks made it all the more enjoyable to her.

After cleaning up, we hit the Boardwalk and decided to have dinner at Spoodles. They gave us a pager and told us our booth would be ready in about 20 minutes. No sooner had we left the restaurant, but our pager went off. We had a great light dinner of calamari and flat bread pizza. Here’s the kicker- our dinner at Spoodles ended up costing less that the pseudo lunch at Puck’s. We strolled the Boardwalk and DH was determined to win something for the punkin at the carnival games. We had a lot of fun teasing one of the “carnie barkers” how he was helping some cute young girls win in hopes of scoring a date while us dedicated parents were getting the shaft. Daddy finally won Isabella a stuffed whale. Thank goodness, otherwise we would have been there all night trying to catapult lobsters into a fry pan with the sledgehammer. Isabella started rubbing her eyes so we decided a long walk might be just the lullaby she needed. DH calls the lake walk all the way around boardwalk past the turnoff to Epcot past Yacht Club the Monte Cristo walk because that’s exactly how long it takes to finish a Monte Cristo cigar. Isabella was sound asleep before we were even half way.

Thanks for the headsup on Wolfgangs, we were thinking of grabbing something there on our DD day. My kids also love lego land. Your daughter sounds like she is having a great time without the parks.

Loved the reminder, Quote: "There’s just something about a slide, especially a covered one, to entice a 2yr old to climb up again and again and again..."

We experienced this also! Unfortunately we were mean & pulled her away crying. LOL

Agree with you about WE, it's overated IMHO.

Anxious for day three!!!!
