Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

This is completely off topic but has to do with magic bands and rooms so I hope I get an answer. I have two reservations because I have two rooms because I have five people and three are staying in one room and two are in the other. We are in the Beach Club for the same length of stay. I'm saying all of this because neither of our rooms are throw away rooms. I just well ;) my daughter's boyfriend is coming and honestly, I don't want to parade around in my PJ's in front of him! Any way, I am getting ready to book FP+. Our reservations are linked. Our tickets are linked. I can see all five of our nine day passes. When I made the dining ADR's I could select from all five people on the drop down menu. NOW, I am being told that even though the tickets are linked, my magic bands have to be linked. This is a problem as three magic bands show up in one resort reservation and two show up in the other. I can only see three of them on my own MDE. The other two are on my daughter's MDE. I am being told I can't link these bands and that when I made my FP+, I have to do it once under my MDE for three people and then log in under her MDE and do the other two. Well we are going Christmas week ....so you all know how that is going to work. So please correct or advise. You are all GREAT!

We went the last week in March with our neighbors. There is a setting where you can see/edit your traveling companions activities. I was able to make everyone's (8 people) FP+ and dinner reservations from my phone and never had a problem.

Thank you!

Speaking as someone who used a throwaway campsite in August, I think it's a great idea and a great value for someone who wants to legitimately use the perks of staying on-site for something they paid for, fair and square:

  • 60 days FP+ window
    Free parking for 2 days
Magic bands included for your whole family
    Be Our Guest FP+
    Just to name a few...

BUT when the conversation moves into getting multiple bands for the same person, creating multiple MDE accounts, booking the room and then canceling it , etc, this is where you start entering territory where you're getting something for nothing. IMO, that's a whole separate conversation from just booking a throwaway room.

It crosses an shady ethical line that has a negative impact on the rest of us, similar to cutting in line or grabbing soda the fountain after asking a CM for a cup of water. A cast member may not be stopping you from doing it. But it kinda shows that you're probably a crummy person who doesn't play nice with others.

Cartwright, I know Disney_Princess83 has answered this but I guess I'm just being my obsessive self.

I have a throwaway campsite booked for Feb.
I really don't plan to be anywhere near the campsites on our visit and am NOT planning to physically check in.
I'm just wondering if you physically checked in to the campsite.
Hoping to hear that you did not check in and that all went well :goodvibes

TIA,

Karen :)

We have two nights booked at the campgrounds but want to get to MK first thing on our check in date. When I called my understanding is that you need to check in at Ft wilderness in order to get free parking (obtain your parking pass). So I guess it depends on whether you want to pay for parking.

I curious about parking and throwaway rooms. Can anyone confirm if you need to check-in or not to get free parking? Do you need a pass or do you use the band? Thanks :)

My 60 day window for arriving on Nov. 29th was Monday. I added the extra week so actually starting booking on a 67 day window for my trip. I called to cancel the extra week and the CM did ask several times why I was canceling. All my FP+ are still there 3 days after canceling. If you are wanting Anna/Elsa FP+ I can't imagine why you wouldn't do this? :)

Was this one reservation and you shortened your stay or a separate room only reservation prior to the time frame you had planned?

While I don't like either one, I agree the multiple magic bands is much worse. It's flat out lying and stealing. There's just no two ways about it.

First, you're lying on your reservation by adding fake names...and yes, putting down Joe1, Joe2, and Joe3 is creating fake names. These people do not exist. Secondly, Disney clearly states that even if you have multiple bands (and they are assuming this is from multiple stays or purchasing them separately) you are not entitled to extra fp+'s or any other benefit you get with them.

I'm amazed at how willing people are on these boards to brag about how much they were able to get by gaming the system. Not only do they do it, they're proud of it.

Hopefully the more they brag the sooner the loophole will be closed.

I said a while back that I hope they abuse the heck out of it and get Disney's attention quickly so that they'll stop this nonsense.

Problem is what Disney will do to stop it- Those of us who pay for what we get have lost many perks over the years when Disney decided to stop the get something for nothing crowd.

And that's the typical response when there's no way to deny the truth.

I'm not arguing with anyone or telling them what they should do at this point. In fact, I've said do it if you want. I'm stating facts. Disney prohibits using multiple bands to garner more perks. Period. Adding fake names to a reservation is definitely against any hotels policy. Period. I'm certainly allowed to discuss the repercussions that might happen from people who do this sort of thing.

Do it if you want, I hope Disney stops it.

If that's in violation of board policy, I'm sure they can let me know personally.

If you have a problem with this, write to Disney. This is off-topic for this thread. I've already told you that I'm not going to engage you in further 1-on-1 debate on this topic. Some people want to know more about this throwaway rooms whether or not you approve. "Let it go"

In June, we did online check in and did not go to the resort to check in. We were able to scan our bands to get our free parking along with our family that was in a separate car. Very few vehicles hold a party of 10 so I do not feel bad for getting free parking for more than one car!

I can post whatever I choose to post and if moderators have a problem with it, they'll let me know. I don't take orders from you. You have an ignore feature if you don't like to read them. No one is attempting to get you to argue. Just don't respond. It's that easy.

The subject of how to get extra bands was brought up, I responded. If it's off topic, the moderators will let me know.

Nice! I didn't even think about the possibility of getting free parking for multiple cars. That was a good idea and I might use that on my next trip which will be with a larger group.

With 10 MBs, parking for 2 cars one day and 3 cars second day, we made money to get our throwaway campground site. And we honestly had a party of 10.

It's cases like this where it's crazy NOT to get a throwaway campsite. For ~$50, you're getting $85 worth of parking at the parks, $130+ worth of Magic Bands, lunch at BOG and early FP+ booking.

Well, we paid $80 for our campsite but it was still a good deal for our group. ::yes::

I agree completely, also as someone who has a throwaway campsite booked.
