Parking and the "discounted" magic bands were also consideration for us, which I believe would require keeping the campsite and not canceling.
True true, guess I just have FP+ on my mind.

Same with EMH. Don't you only get early admission on the day of your throwaway reservation? Once you move off site, don't you lose that privilege?
Earlier this month we visited the parks for 5 days, having booked a 1-day campsite at Fort Wilderness for about $60. We physically stayed off-site. We did the online check-in option a day before, never having set foot on the campsite. How were you able to get the free parking pass without checking in in-person? We also want to get the free parking, but would rather just do the online check-in if possible. What did you show the parking attendant, to get the free parking? Thanks.
For the purchase of the campsite we received:
-2 days of free parking for check-in and check-out day ($34 value)
-5 magic bands for our family ($64.75 plus tax)
-60 day FP+ booking window for the full length of our trip, not just the campsite days
-option to purchase a BOG FP+ lunch
-option to use EMH (we followed easyWDW touring plans, so we actively avoided EMH, but to each his own)
Honestly, I just don't get the argument that this is gaming the system or cheating. It's not even right to call this a loophole. All of these are the benefits available for booking an on-property campsite that I purchased. Is it really anyone's concern how I choose to use my campsite?
I understand the argument here is that this is preventing other people from "legitimately" using the campsite. But this implies that somehow I'm not "properly" using my campsite. Says who? You? What if I booked an ADR and chose to only purchase a milkshake? Are you mad at me for not ordering dinner? I'm sure there's someone else who wanted that ADR for a full dinner, but I got it before them. Why is that something I should be worried about?
Anyone who was turned away from a campsite because of capacity was welcome to plan as far ahead in advance as I did. Next time, if they get it before me, they are free to use it however they want. I don't have any reason to get upset at someone else for getting to it first.

The parking attendant should be able to scan your magic band.
This came up on another thread. Some people seem to think this doesn't work all the time, but it worked flawlessly for us, no issues at all.
I'm not sure how you are all getting the 60 day FP benefit with a one night stay? We have a night onsite, followed by 3 off, and then 7 on. My window for the first night opened last night, but it would only let me book FP+ for Oct 21 and 22nd? We don't even need them until 10/26 but I thought it would open +10?
If you have a Disney-operated Walt Disney World resort reservation, you can make FastPass+ selections starting at 60 days from your check-in date, up through the length of your reservation (including check-out day), for as many days as your ticket length. If you have tickets that are longer than your reservation, you can then continue you make additional FastPass+ selections 60 days from the date in question, up until your check-in date arrives. At that point, you cannot make selections beyond the 60th day from the check-in date, until you get to 30 days away as a non-resort guest as explained below.
To clarify by way of example, if your check-in date is July 1st and is for 5 days/4 nights (check out on July 5th), and you have a 10-day Magic Your Way ticket with No Expiration, you can begin making FastPass+ reservations on May 2nd, and can make FP+ selections for July 1st through the 5th (5 days worth). You still have five days left on your ticket (perhaps you are staying off-site later), so on May 7th you can book FastPass+ for July 6th (60 days from that date), and on May 8th you can boot July 7th, etc. As long as you have less days of FastPass+ booked than your ticket length, you can do this up until July 1st comes around, when you can book August 30th – but you can’t book beyond August 30th at all until you get to August 2nd, at which point you can book August 31st, and follow the 30 day rule from then.
It isn't just 60 days from check in - it's more complicated.
Taken from WDW Untangled (based on how it worked last I checked):
In other words, after your check out date, you still get 60 days but from the date in question, not the check-in date, and that hold true until your check-in date arrives.
I have a FP+ Question.
We are going to WDW on an extended trip during January and February. We will be staying at AKL for 5 days, then going on a 7 day Disney Cruise and then coming back for 4 1/2 weeks and staying at a DTD Resort (not Disney) We have an annual pass. We have made FP+ before but only with an AP and not staying onsite.
1. Since we are staying at AKL, we can make FP+ 60 days out from our check in date?
2. Can we still only hold 7 days worth of reservations at a time since it's an AP Ticket?
Thank you
1. Yes, you will be able to make FP+ for those 5 days you are at AKL.
2. I think the only time an AP holder can have more than 7 is when they are staying onsite for more than 7 days, which you are not. I could be wrong though.

I was thinking the same thing re: 7 days. We have only ever been able to hold 7 days at a time due which is so frustrating.
I'm wondering if we will be able to make 7 days worth at 60 days out?
I think you will only be able to make 5 days worth but I'm not 100% certain.
