I didn't get an invite. I have been checking MDE every day for a couple weeks after seeing someone post they had gotten the invite, yesterday my FP+ was locked today it is open

I'm confused by what you said on another thread but if you can book 60 days from now enjoy it while it lasts.

Thanks, everyone. Confused OP here. We left Florida at the end of October and visited Disney again in December, but since then I've been out of the loop as I haven't kept up with Disney news. We're passholders, and I got a few emails last week but I didn't pay attention to them. Guess I should go back and read, although we always stay onsite, so the passholder limits won't apply to us.

So is it a new thing that you can only book first day and checkout day? I don't understand that at all. When we had FP+ on all of our trips beginning in September, we were able to book for our entire trip and many days after. (In fact, we were there often enough that we were pretty much able to book for the entire fall season.)

Any info would be appreciated. I haven't been on the disboards really since before our last trip.

Thanks!

VP

yep as I answered you in other thread my FP+ was locked this morning and was opened when I checked it after writing that post. sorry for confusing you ...again:goodvibes

Why not just stay onsite if you want the onsite perks?

If I had found a private house with 5 bedroom, 3 bathrooms, a private pool with spa, pool table, foosball table, private laundry facilities and full kitchen onsite for 139$ tx in, I would gladly have stayed onsite.

Instead, that money would have gotten me a broom closet onsite.

So we stayed off site, saved a ton of money and purchased the onsite perks by paying for a campsite (or value room if you are a smaller family). Win-win !

no, I'm thinking they meant first day thru checkout day

Nope, the PP was an incorrect about only being able to book check in/out days. You can still book the rest of the #of days on your ticket, 60 day before each day (rolling 60 day calendar)

We did it last week

You are only paying for the onsite perks for the days that you are paying for a campsite. You may be temporarily getting the perks now for your entire stay but you aren't paying for them.

We stayed off site all but one night during our December trip. Our first night we stayed in AOA. We received our bands and were able to book FP+s for all our 7 Park Hopper days. Best trip ever! :goodvibes

Well, we paid for, and got, onsite parking and EMH for check in and check out.

We paid for, and got, MB which opens up the ability to pre-book FP+ for the length of our ticket (5 days).

So yes, we did pay for the perks.

You can disagree if you like but this is what Disney is currently offering. Sure, it can change at any point but that's what I was allowed to do by booking a 1 night stay. I didn't break any rules, didn't steal anything from Disney, didn't "work the system", didn't use a refillable cup from last year to steal unpaid drinks. I did what Disney allowed me to do - book FP+ for the length of my ticket (not the length of my stay).

The point of FP+ as stated by the Disney execs, is to keep people in the parks. By allowing them to reserve times in advance, the guest feels more "commited" to being at the parks at that reservation time. You won't leave early because it's too crowded if you have a FP+ for Soarin' in 2 hours. They keep guests 'captive'. Why would they limit this to onsite guests ? Answer: they won't. They allow you to reserve FP+ for all the days on your ticket once you have a MB.

Having a throwaway room should give someone onsite perks for days of check-in and check-out. Other than that you should be able to pre-book at the offsite date which gives you plenty of time to get "committed" at two weeks or 30 days. No Disney math, moral questions or magic bands required.

All sorts of loopholes have been allowed thus far until they weren't.

Incorrect again. They had not opened up the pre-booking to off-site guests at the time of my vacation. My only option was to become an on-site guest which allowed me access to the perks - including MB and the ability to pre-book FP+ for the length of our tickets.

Call it a loophole if you want, but are you certain this was not Disney's intention all along ? If you have a MB from a previous stay, you can link an AP to it and make FP+ reservation even though you are no longer staying on site. Why does everyone *assume* it's a loophole Disney plans on closing ? They are rolling out pre-booking to ALL guests soon !

You don't like Disney's rules, take it up with them. Your post is all about what I *shoud* be able to do. What I should do is follow the rules as set out by Disney and I did. I am not sure why this is getting anyone's knickers in a twist.

You don't like Disney's rules, take it up with them ! Be my guest, tell Disney what they *should* allow their guests to do... All I did was abide by them.

Haha! Disney doesn't care what I think. They'll close this loophole when it suits them, probably by making things more difficult for everyone somehow.

I guess the difference between what's allowed vs what's a directive is a matter for debate but not one that I'm interested in.

We stayed at WDW in October and November when FP+ was only an onsite perk. We booked two nights at Pop only to get Magic Bands. We did stay in those rooms and then linked our AP's to the bands. We were staying at WDW for 5 weeks and used the bands for our whole stay.

It has been reported that in talking with CM's and in some surveys Disney is aware of this problem and is looking at a way to stop it.

Hopefully soon as real campers need the sites.

I doubt Disney is terribly worried about this. They were paid in full for a service I did not even use. They are probably laughing all the way to the bank. I doubt they're in a real rush to stop this "problem".

At any rate, the problem will resolve itself once FP+ pre-booking is available to all guests, onsite and off - which from what I hear is very soon.

When I first read about these "throwaway" rooms a few weeks ago on another post, I had to pause for a minute and re-read it a few times so I sort of understood what was going on. Then I had to sit back and comtemplate...is this what Disney has brought us too...we are booking phantom rooms in order to be able to book advance FP+ ??..whats wrong with this equation ?? Does Disney really understand the hell they have wrought or do they really care and who's the villain here...Disney or ourselves ??

We use to book our resort and flights and head off to WDW for 5-7 days of fun at WALT DISNEY WORLD...it was exciting and relaxing...no more...

Now we have to make sure the Brazilian cheerleaders are not there when we want to, we have to make sure we get the correct view from our room, we have to call at 180 days to make sure we can eat otherwise we will probably starve, we have to make sure which resort has the best bus service, we can't book the values cause the pop warner kids are there and now to add insult to injury we have to book our FP+ 60 days out so we make sure we get the rides that we absolutely must have in the order that we want them on the days that we want them.

I know this crazy process is great for some people but for me it just seems to take the fun out of Disney...and now....throwaway rooms...whats next...renting handicapped kids ?....oh ya, that was last years new idea....

We booked 12 nights offsite but decided a couple months out that we might leave for our vacay a day early so we needed an inexpensive option for that one night. We picked camping at FW and were pleasantly surprised that that got us MBs and FPs for the duration of our 6 day MYW tickets. It also gets us a day of enjoying Fort Wilderness and meeting Chip & Dale at the campfire and watching a movie under the stars, though.

One night is $141 CAD for a nice site which is the same as we'll be paying for our WBC condo the other nights.

We didn't work the system, the system worked for us and I have a feeling Disney is okay with that.

I understand that this is a discussion board, and everyone is free to say what they want, however, the whole morality debate of throwaway rooms has been covered ad nauseum on the other thread. Can we take the discussion there, and not start another ten page debate on the same topic?

If you are actually spending the night there you aren't one of those who are "working the system". People are talking about guests who book a campsite but don't use it as the ones working the system.

Why not just skip over this thread if you don't want to read through another 10 page debate :confused3
