Or if someone really feels guilty about it they can put an ad on Craigslist for anyone who would like to spend a day camping out for free at Disney.![]()
Yeah I think there is a difference. I think the pill is more bitter to swallow when the site they need is sitting empty.
I admit I have not read every post, I quit after page 26, but I have been intersted in the differences of opinions on this subject and the explanations, rationals and debates.
Just a little side step....I've seen a long thread about throwaway ADRs. Seems many people are reserving an early morning breakfast at Epcot to gain early entry, then not even going to breakfast, but instead are lining up to meet the Frozen characters in Norway. Apparently, the line to see them can quickly back up for hours, and many posters say they don't mind losing the $10 per person it cost them to be a no show as they want to be early in that line.
Much of the debate about reserving a throw away room or campsite was that Disney got their money if a guest was sleeping there or not. However, with the ADR scenerio, they will only make $40 on a family of 4 as a no show, but would be able to get full price (approximately $200?) if the 4 had shown up for the ADR. Disney could possibly recoup a little savings as there is less food consumed (but will the extra food prepared and not used have to be thrown away?), and the cost of the picture that would not be taken, but that is minimal.
Since I have seen such a range of opinions on the thowaway room, I would be interested in your opinions on the throwaway ADRs. Is it "bad form" or just "to the victor go the spoils"?
This doesn't make any sense because every guest that has a park ticket gets FP+ the only on site advantage is a magic band and 60 days in advanced to book those FPs but everyone still gets FP+.
okay like the PP said you would only get to pre book for the days you had the reservation. I don't think you will have a problem. If anything I would call and check on availability for your time your looking into. I have heard of a lot of people booking a value hotel room for a day just to get the magic band but I think you'll be fine with the campsites.Right, I meant the onsite perk of 60 days in advance. Also, EMH and MB. I actually just saw a pin on Pinterest that suggested booking a campsite for 1 night and spending only $60 for all those onsite perks. VP
You can only book FPs for your check-in and check-out days,

The quote above is incorrect. At the 60 day out mark, you can book your FP+ for your check in and out day. Then every day after that, another day opens up and you can book FP+ for the length of your ticket. So for example if 60 days out was today, you can book check in/check out. Then in 2 days you can book for your 3rd ticket day, day after that, another day opens up. It is similar to the ADR. If you are staying onsite, at 180 days out of your first day, you can make your ADR for the entire trip. If you are offisite, you have to make them 180 days out for each individual day. Yes people are doing. I did it myself. However everything is pointing to the fact that offsite guests will soon be able to pre-book so this practice will stop then - it will no longer be required to have an on-site room so no need to book "throwaway rooms" There is a 45 page thread on it on page 1. Search for "Throwaway room".
This will be a bit different when this loophole closes since regular offsite guests with no throwaway room will not have 60 days advanced, rolling or otherwise.
actually FP+ has opened up to many offsite guests already, and many are reporting the are able to book 60 days out... ours opened up today at the 3 week mark, but I am able to book all the way up to 60 days from now. and this applies to passholders as well as regular ticket holders
Just going by the new announcement that passholders staying offsite will have their pre-booking time cut down to 30 days. If they're cutting AP holders' down to 30 days, I doubt that non-AP, offsite guests will have more. From what I've seen, they are (except in your case) mostly getting a couple of weeks to pre-book if they've gotten an invite.
Yes but the point of the throwaway room (or campsite) was that previous to this, off site guests had NO FP+ at all. They opened the kiosks just week before our vacation. The ability to pre book - whether it be 30 or 60 days is what I wanted. I did not want to spend time waiting in the INSANELY long lines at the kiosk in the park (wasting valuable park time) and not know what I was going to get. You don't need 60 days out: We changed our FP+ the night before once (we got rained out so we moved our days around) and had no problems getting what we wanted for our evening at MK. I did not want to take the chance of arriving at 2pm, going to the kiosk and *hoping* we'd get something we wanted.
I didn't get an invite. I have been checking MDE every day for a couple weeks after seeing someone post they had gotten the invite, yesterday my FP+ was locked today it is openJust going by the new announcement that passholders staying offsite will have their pre-booking time cut down to 30 days.
