Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Happy HUMP DAY Everyone

#1 - Our Parking Lot At Midway Airport - It’s privately owned parking lot and it’s the best. It’s nothing great to look at, but it’s inexpensive and I feel our car is safe when it’s there. A friend of mine turned us onto it 5 years ago, and we’ve used it ever since.

#2 - An Easy Airport - Chicago has 2 airports and we always use Midway, which I consider an easy airport. I haven’t flown out of O’Hare in literally 30 years (since our honeymoon) so I don’t remember that much about it.

#3 - Early Flights - I’m so grateful that Southwest has early flights. We love the 5am flight, it’s our favorite! We like getting to where we are going early so we can enjoy breakfast at our trip location and ease into our vacation.

I’m grateful for the airplane because I hate road trips I will not do a road trip I wanna fly everywhere I go so I can get there quicker

I’m grateful for the window seat so I can look out the window and see everything I love staring out the window I try always to get a window seat

I’m grateful for the seatbelt I’ve had many a turbulent flight Very grateful for my seatbelt

I’m especially grateful for the pilots who get us safely there where we’re going

And I’m very grateful I’ve never had any issues or incidents on any flight I’ve ever been on but did have one at a gate ones or some people try to get on a plane and actually made it all the way to the gate with no passport and they did not have tickets to get on the plane and how they made it that far is still a mystery but thankfully they did not make it on the plane I wasn’t too happy to get on that plane considering the three people that they arrested at the gate but luckily everything went fine with that flight but I am able to truthfully say I was a bit concerned so I was very grateful that everything went well so I am grateful that security finally caught those people but how they got that far is still a mystery to me

Happy Wednesday :)

I no longer fly. Years ago planes made it much faster for me to visit dad (during my college years) and grandma (when she lived in Texas)

I am sure grateful to planes for carrying happy mail and needed supplies.

Toy and paper airplanes that bring kids a smile and the flying dumbo ride that delivers cheer to all its riders.

I used to hate the whole flying experience however my recent, surprisingly pleasant long haul flights have changed my opinion somewhat!

1. Free food & drinks - this mostly applies to long haul or free snacks you get on non-budget airlines, but I am super impressed with the free food & drink offerings on flights. The food is a lot tastier than you'd expect (not restaurant quality but still decent), you get more than enough meals and snacks and they certainly dont skimp on the drinks either, alcoholic or otherwise. Coming from someone who used to refuse to eat plane food, now I actually look forward to it.

2. Window seats & no neighbours - again mostly on long haul, but getting a window seat and also having nobody sat on the row next to you so you can spread out and not be disturbed when sleeping etc, such a pleasant experience.

3. Being on time & organised - having been on many flights that have been delayed or had a completely disorganised approach to the gate and boarding process, I've come to be very grateful for those flights that are on time or even early, and are super organised, making for such a stress free airport experience.

Lots of mixed feelings about flying.
My dad loved airplanes and one of our family outings in the early 60’s was to go to Idylwild (Kennedy) Airport and watch the planes come in and go out. Obviously, you can’t do that anymore!

The first time I flew was in college: $29.00 student stand-by from NY to Buffalo. So much better than an 8 hour car ride! (And my parents didn’t have to take me) :)

Living in the DC area, the thought of flying now is a bit scary. Not to mention the last time I flew to Disney in 2020, my ears hurt so much I was crying. I do appreciate the option though when long car rides are just not a good option.
