Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Happy Saturday :)

Each moment. As I recover from my feet injury, God has blessed me with the reminder of my heartfelt belief that every moment is a blessing from Him to me and my dad.

Rainbows to me have been a reminder of my deep faith.

A simple smile from someone may be fleeting but it has the ability to chane a life positively. Thank you all for spreading kind joy.

Humming Birds - love these speedy little birds been feeding them for over 30 years they are so darn cute and will fly right up to you face and zoom right by !!!

I would say deer but mine aren’t fleeting most of the time 🤣🤣 we have turf wars now they do flee if in neighbors yard sometimes but not always
But I will say wildlife - coyotes / skunks 🦨 / Turkey 🦃 etc got to be quick to see some of the other wildlife roaming around I’m ok missing the skunk 🦨🤣🤣

Celebrities at WDW - seen a few over the years another thing where you have to be in the right spot in right exact moment because it’s quick and then they are gone !! Very exciting Thou To see!!!

Deer - Here's another vote for deer, our back yard is up against a wooded area and DH has a corn feeder for the deer and other wildlife. It's very peaceful watching them come in during the evening, some of them are more timid than others.

Rain - Our part of central Ohio has only received 5 inches of rain from the beginning of June to the end of August, everything is so dry, the grass is awful, and the farm crops have been affected as well this summer. We had a couple of short storms yesterday afternoon, and I think we were all just thankful to see it rain again.

Kindness - Random and simple acts of kindness, whether it's letting someone merge in traffic, holding a door open, or paying it forward to others in some other unexpected way.

Meteors- I love a good meteor shower. You never want to blink because you might miss a good one.

Life- We’re all so busy that it’s easy to have the years fly by in a blink of the eye. It’s kind of cruel how the best times seem to fly by at rapid speed. As they say, the days are long but the years are short.

Wildlife- While we’re in top form when in a park/area known for animals, they can really take you by surprise when you’re not expecting them. I left the house around 5am today to get DD15 to a camp in Waco and even though I knew to be looking out for deer and wild hogs, it still took me by surprise when I caught a glimpse of a couple of deer darting around the side of the road.

So many great answers!
I think I will just limit mine to things that are easy to miss and that I love to photograph at WDW.

1. Light fixtures: I am pretty obsessed with the variety of light fixtures everywhere in WDW, especially the theming of the ones in the resorts.

2. The same goes for trash cans. So many different ones!

3. Reflections and shadows: I can’t even count how many photos I’ve taken of the reflections in the water around the castle. And during the golden hour (previously mentioned by PollyannaMom) there are opportunities for some wonderful shadow photos, especially in WS around Morocco and Norway.

Trust your instincts
Always let someone know what your doing in case something happens
Be able to support yourself and not depend on someone else

From my mother
Always wear clean underwear - you may be in a car accident- 🤣 like they are going to check ???

Don’t take candy from strangers - never in my life has a stranger offered me candy

Don’t get in cars with strangers - again never got an offer - we walked everywhere as we ( my friends and me ) didn’t have a car

Happy Sunday Friends!

#1 - Don’t walk with your hands in your pockets, because if you trip and fall, you’ll fall on your face since your hands are in your pockets - from my grandpa. He would tell me this all the time and I preached it to my girls too. So nobody, including my DH, walks with their hands in their pockets.

#2 - Don’t be a complainer! Life is hard for everyone.Deal with your issues and not just complain about them - my grandma. The matriarch of our family and the strongest woman I’ve ever known.

#3 - Never say to someone, “Excuse the mess. I wasn’t expecting anyone to come over”. Just keep your home neat and picked up all the time - my grandma. I live by this, I honestly do. I stand by the front door and look around to make sure everything is perfect that’s in someone’s line of sight. I can’t promise that a white glove treatment will always pass, but unexpected guests aren’t giving white glove treatments. Even when my girls were little, they knew that toys were to be picked up right away in the front room. My grandma would be proud of me.

1. Not everyone is going to like you, and that's OK (and, it's OK to not like everyone).

2. Don't waste your time regretting things. Make the best decisions you can with the information available at the time- but after the fact, always remember that you made the best decision with the information you had at the time.

3. Don't overload the washing machine. Sorry, not inspirational, but a solid piece of advice!

Advice I've given:
1. Regarding raising kids, listen with your heart.
2. Don't do anything with a toddler that you aren't willing to do 20,000 times.
3. Bend like the willow. Remain strong and true at your core, but don't hesitate to reach out, change opinions, modify reactions.

Good morning friends and thank you WDWEPCOT, Slo, and Leebee, for already sharing wise words. PollyannaMom, thank you for bringing me happy memories of my beloved grandparents. Grandpa Sam, as I have shared before, I came to realize as an adult, sadly long after his passing, that he truly was my first witness to Christ, my Savior on how he lived. Grandpa would share his belief that only kindness spreads faith and positivity, no need or room for anything else. Grandma was a feisty lady who was also fiercely loyal to all she loved. She would often tell me that should anyone doubt my ability to make something happen they could come to her.

Idele, a lovely elderly friend of my grandparents who when she heard I enjoyed writing at a young age didn't hesitate to tell me then and there that she would be first in lime (behind my grandparents and dad no doubt) to buy my first book. She believed in me, too.

I am a fan of Jewel's song Hands. I sure pray to live out my faith and that kindness is what counts.

You’re never going to please everyone- It’s a common pitfall with event planning. At the end of the day, you strive for a “best fit” model for the masses and some special one off concessions for a few special people.

There are often multiple ways to do something right- This was advice given to me around the time DD18 was born. It came from coworker (and mom of 5) who noted that I’d get a little more rest and me-time if I accepted that DH might take a different approach that’s still effective. Granted, I don’t think she’d heard his idea to get a big cardboard box instead of a pack-and-play 😂

It’s ok to live with lowered expectations for some things- This came back when I was a newlywed and trying to juggle some new things. The person was essentially saying that it’s better to enjoy life than be a slave to a lot of domestic details. That’s not to say that we live like animals, but just that we’re willing to let some things go or occur more infrequently simply to enjoy more of life (or at least not feel obligated to sweat this relatively small stuff when it gets busy).
