Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Is that a sampler she did ??? If so it’s Amazing !!! truly a lost art those are so hard to do !! Takes talent keen eyes and a steady patient hand and lots of talent !!! How old was she when she did it ??? I just love when these pop up on antiques roadshow!!!

I’m pretty sure it’s a sampler. I’ll have to ask her. But she was an adult when she did it. Maybe in her 40’s? All of her work is meticulous and, IMHO, amazing. I know she has gone to some craft shows, or maybe needlepoint shows. I am so opposite of her! Only 16 months apart and we have always been so different. I can’t sew a button either flyingdumbo!

Extras:
The extra hour of sleep we get when we switch back to Standard Time. It’s one of my favorite nights of the year!

I used to always get extra cheese on pizza. Extra tartar sauce on fish platters. I miss those days, but I also like feeling healthy.

The Extra Evening Hours at WDW, although I am old enough to remember the old Eticket Nights at MK for $10.00! So grateful I got to experience those!!

Well I can but it’s not pretty that’s about the extent of my skills in sewing and I had it for 6 yrs in home Econ I used to embroidery and my work there is horrible to say the least !! Never really mastered it - yeah I think we covered that in home Econ too we did tiny samplers I mean tiny mine was good for the trash !! I wanted to take wood shop but my father said no because I was a girl and girls don’t do that - well this girl does !! I’m much better at wood working
I’m 10 months between my sister and me and we are like night and day ! We are so close in age we were in the same grade in school !! We are polar opposites in all things !! The only thing we have in common is our parents

Umbrella- great invention I love the little ones I have one I always take to Disney

Undertaker - someone’s got to do it and I’m grateful for the person who does - having dealt with them several times over the years I’m very grateful for them
Growing up a friend of mine her father ran the funeral home and they lived in it - must admit it was creepy when I was a kid !! Can you imagine being a kid and the other side of your house might have 3 or maybe up to 5 bodies played out ??? Scary for kids !!

Understanding / such a great thing - it’s a concept I strive to practice and encourage others - I’m not always successful and that leads to learning which leads back to understanding !!! I think a lot of it comes with age !! You get better with age if you want to !! YMMV

Unusual- with the new Beetlejuice movie coming out, I’m reminded of Lydia’s quote about people ignoring the strange and unusual. I think it’s the “unusual” that makes many of Tim Burton’s creations so successful.

Underdogs- I’m sure there are deeper psychological roots to it, but it seems like most of us really like cheering on the underdog. It’s even more fun when they win… well, unless it’s against your team. Although, it still makes you appreciate their efforts.

Work department- Our name begins with U. The work is maddening and stressful, but it helps pay the bills.

1. I'm grateful for Uncles - mine have all passed on, but my kids have some great uncles!

2. Uniforms - I love some of the different sports' uniforms. In MLB, most teams now have city connect uniforms, which are just a fun way to display their pride in the city.

3. Upward - when DS was a kid, there was a upward sports league in our area that was sponsored by local churches. He played in the basketball league. We met so many nice families and it was a great way to combine church activities and sports for the kids

Uniforms. In the UK, school uniforms are the norm for teenagers and it removes, at least, some of the competition and judgments. It also made mornings quicker for me!!

University. I'm really glad I was able to go and get my degree.

Utensils. Very handy. Quite literally!

Here are my U words:

Unicycles- we had one when I was a kid. We had so many hours of fun with that thing. We were like a circus family with our unicycle and bicycle built for 2 riding down the street.

“The Usual”- I love that we have a restaurant that we go to so much the waitress knows our “usual”.

Ugly Cry- Nothing more soul-soothing than a good ugly cry.

AustinTink, thank you for good memories from different times in my lifevof going regularly to a particular restaurant with either my grandma or dad and not needing to order since the server knew our order becayse more meaningfully she cared about us as we did her.

Universal health care- still a dream, but my relatives in Canada, England, and France think we are crazy here in the USA.

The movie Up (except we usually skip the sad part)

Under the Sea: The Little Mermaid was the 1st movie I took my 3 year-old DD to see and the song and the animation just blew me away.
