Three Things...Gratitude Thread

TGIF! :cool1:

Tough to narrow this down to three.
I’m going to narrow it down to this summer….

#1 - I’m grateful for our Girls Only WDW trip this year - the memories my DD19 and I made are to numerous to count - that was an epic trip - one I will never forget.

#2 - I’m grateful for last night - my DD19 and I drove about 1 1/2 hours to watch her BF and his minor league baseball team - the weather was perfect and we had a lot of great laughs - so much fun!

#3 - I’m grateful for pool days with my DH - he doesn’t like staying in the pool as long as me, but when he’s there we have a lot of good laughs and conversation.

Summer Memories:

1. As a child, I spent summers at my Pa-Paw’s lake house in Hot Springs, AR. After we moved to Florida, we’d go back to Arkansas for a month every summer and visit friends and family, and that was wonderful. We are hoping to do that next summer and have a family reunion.

2. Summers trips to Maine and New Hampshire in the White Mountain area. Exploring and being outdoors with my DH and kids. The fresh air!!! Heavenly! Headed there tomorrow to join DH and kids who went up last weekend.

3. Summer memories of beach vacations with my Mom and Dad when the kids were little. The last time we spent happy times with Dad was at the beach. Grateful for that trip. 🙏 He passed away almost two years ago, and So very grateful my kids got that time with him. 🫶

Summer Memories -

1. Summer vacations - we always take a trip somewhere in the summer. I don't know if that will change over the years now that the kids are older and we don't have to work around school schedules as much, but so far, we've always still taken a family trip in the summer!

2. Church camps - I went as a kid and I took my kids to them when they were younger. Such good memories!

3. Summer concerts - we've never been a huge concert family, but we used to go to summer concerts at an outdoor venue near us. They had lawn "seats" and we'd usually get those because they were cheaper and a lot of fun to sit out there on blankets or lawn chairs. In a couple of weeks, we're going to our state fair to see REO Speedwagon. We actually saw them years ago at the outdoor venue I was talking about. I haven't been to the state fair in years, so looking forward to that!

Summer memories :sunny:

Grandpa enjoying relaxing in an inflatable boat in the pool of our one house (we lived in for a few years when I was in my later teens).

Dad and I enjoying trips to OR and WA.

Grandma and I enjoying 🍨either at home or at Marble Slab Creamery on my trips to visit her in Houston or when we both lived in a small town in Northern, CA.

Some happy memories of working and volunteering at summer church camps pre pandemic and years ago at another summer camp out here.

Specific Summer Memories I'm Grateful For:

The first time my DS saw fireflies while visiting my hometown. (We don't really see them here, and I loved them as a kid.)

A massive family water fight (one of the memories sparked when I saw the "holiday" pop up) at my nephew's birthday party one summer.

Running through the sprinkler as a kid, and thinking it was the best thing ever! I'm grateful I had a simple childhood to grow from.

Summer Memories You're Grateful For
I grew up in Newark, NJ, Vailsburg section. The Vailsburg park had summer programs for kids, free! We did wood cuttings, had sewing stuffed animals, games and lanyards, as well as many nature crafts. I rode my bike there, and all around the park and all around the neighborhoods. We found creeks with tadpoles, snails…It really was a different time. I remember riding once all the way to Branch Brook Park…never told my parents about that.

My dad holding me and my sister up in the waves at Point Pleasant NJ.

We moved to Bayonne when I was 13, and enjoyed activities like archery at the 16th street park, and the public pool In that area. In Bayonne, we had our cousins as playmates, and our paternal grandmother nearby. Dad grew up in Bayonne, Mom grew up in Newark. In Newark we were near our maternal grandparents.

Good Saturday Morning!

#1 - I’m grateful for my yellow kitchen - it’s bright and happy, especially when the sun comes through the sky light.

#2 - I’m grateful for the sun - a bright sunny day makes the gloomiest mood feel better and the coldest day feel warmer.

#3 - I’m grateful for yellow mums - I’ll be buying those more sooner than later - crazy to think how fast the summer flew by.

#4 (bonus) - I’m grateful for the Rapunzel lantern at the MK - this was our last and final MK picture this year. It looks so loving - mother & daughter gazing into each other’s eyes, and little does anyone know the silly things we were saying to each other through those smiles trying to get the other to laugh - the outcome was perfect, but I laugh every time I see it.

Yellow things I’m grateful for:

1. Key Lime Pie. When I make it, the yolks give it a yellow color.

2. My Claire Austin rose blooms. The picture online is a creamy off-white, but in my garden, the flowers are a pale yellow.

3. Butter, my favorite condiment.

Bonus, emoji smiley faces! :daisy::):goodvibes

:cheer2:for yellow indeed! I completely agree that it is a happy color of joy.

Spring 🐣Reminder of rebirth of us all and for me the Miracle of Easter!
:sunny:and yellow 🌼There are also trees out here that bloom yellow--so pretty.
I have a stuffed animal yellow canary🐦that a late friend gave me that is special.
