Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Today's Topic (Wed, 7/26) - 3 Fun, Silly, or Unusual Things You're Grateful For

Bubbles- the kind you blow, soap suds
Ability to ride my adult three wheeler. I get lots of smiles and waves from strangers
Playing, interacting with dogs, babies, young children

I'm grateful for trees 🌳 🌳

I'm grateful for the little "garden" (pots on the back deck) I have this year. The tomatoes are still green, but I've already picked a zucchini, and the cucumber plant looks good so far.

I'm grateful for the little fake plant DS got me (in a tiny Hogwarts cauldron :wizard: ) so I can have something green in my view even though my cats chew real ones.

Farmers ❤️❤️❤️

My 3 plants in my kitchen that I’ve had for decades - in spite of the cat trying to eat them 🐱

Fall mums - ❤️❤️

Rosebushes - hard to keep because a pesky deer eat them

Bonus - whatever to plants/Tiny trees I may have in the two pots my front door - so far been lucky the current batch has lasted three years👍

The two orchids DSis gave me after she decided they would not thrive in her care. DSis has cared for them sometimes when we are away, and they have done just fine! One is in bloom now

The schefflera my friends gave me when I was pregnant with Matt, and he is 49. Through the years it had sent out off shoots and I would cultivate them when the “mother plant” became too tall. So, the one I have is a descendant of the original, and it has an honored place in our loft, thriving under the skylight.

My clivia which I began from a seed 30 years ago, and fails to send up blooms. The stalks do not grow high, the flowers bloom inside the thick stem. I don’t know what I am doing wrong.

I have to mention all my other plants, just because they are all special to me!

  • I'm thankful for peonies, especially one ones I grew in my nana's garden. (All flowers really - I'm planting irises this fall!!)
  • I'm thankful for small family farms and my easy access to them in the Midwest
  • I am thankful for medicinal plants, like the aloe I slather DH in when he's been out in the sun too long

:thanks:PollyannaMom for sharing about the book, "Wacky Wednesday." I added it to my Library saved list as an E Book and will read it, of course, next Wednesday :D I had never heard of it.

Hooray for God's green!

🌲Being blessed to tend to many years later God's Christmas tree Evergreen! From when I first got this special tree in a small planter in December 2014 to today, God sure has grown His tree healthy and green! Dad and I have been so blessed to help tend to it!

🎄 in general because Christmas is my very favorite time of year because for me it means a quieter, humbler, walk with and to Jesus to the Manger anew in awe and thanks.

💐are such joy to get to see and watch grow.

I am grateful that my plants are still alive, that I have not managed to kill them off. My green thumb is a peculiar shade of grey, but 2 Christmas cacti and a spider plant have managed to survive despite my lack of plant skills!

I have a tiny orchid plant that a student gave me a year or so ago. She guaranteed that i couldn't kill it, to just keep it watered- and warned me that it'd go dormant but not to give up, it'd rebloom. Sure enough, it's in the middle of its 3rd reblooming. I think of Remi and smile every time I see this mini orchid plant!

WHen DD was almost 6 we moved from our first home in Michigan to a new place in PA. This was hard on her, and she brought a maple seed "helicopter" from the tree in the front yard. She loved that tree; we used to have picnics there, or sit and read together. We planted that helicopter in a bucket of soil and it grew! Once we were sure we were staying at this house in Maine, we planted it in the backyard. We now have a tall, sturdy oak tree growing from that little seed she planted 24 years ago.

And that reminds me I have 2 aloes sharing a pot and they need separating!

Love this! Sounds like it's become a member of the family. :grouphug:

Love this, too! :grouphug:

Plant-related

At first glance, I thought it said, Take Your Plant to Work Day! Although, I suppose that's no more or less daft than taking it for a walk! 🤣

1. I, recently, bought a small new ivy for the bathroom. Apparently, it's good for purifying the air. I don't know about that, but, along with a couple of candles, it's changed the whole feel of the room. Small things - big difference. 🪴

2. Trees. 🌲🌴🌳

3. Aromatics - honeysuckle, lavender, mint, lemon balm, orange blossom... 🌸

4. Peas straight from the pod straight from the plant. 😋

And you know, I totally agree about appreciating and supporting farmers. 🧑‍🌾
