Three Things...Gratitude Thread

(Wed, 7/26) - 3 Fun, Silly, or Unusual Things You're Grateful For
1. Toys
2. Video games
3. Kids being silly (usually. ;) )

(Thur, 7/27) - 3 plants or plant-related things you're grateful for
1. Garden fresh tomatoes
2. Trees
3. Flowers

Childern's musical at church is tomorrow. Cue panic mode. ;)

Before I get to today's posting, I want to clarify that the "maple helicopter" story from our Michigan house was planted by our daughter, not my husband- which is how the post originally read. I edited and changed "DH" to "DD" and I'm sorry for the confusion.

Also- when I told DD about this thread, the FIRST thing she said for yesterday's topic about plants was "Fresh basil- and all fresh herbs!" which I thought was a pretty good response. I'll be back later for today's topic... as I'm not a chocolate fan, I need to think about this a bit.

Today's Topic (Fri, 7/28) - 3 chocolate things you're grateful for

Chocolate milk…not that I drink it now, but I certainly had my share when I was growing up! Now my most frequent chocolate drink is a Chocolate ice cream soda with chocolate ice cream…not a black and white ice cream soda.

Toll House cookies with the semi-sweet chocolate ships.

Graeters ice cream based in Cincinnati has the most delicious semi sweet chocolate syrup for its semi sweet chocolate sundaes. That syrup with their coconut chip ice cream is my perfect sundae.

CHOCOLATE ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Omg is there anything better ? Well yes - steak and seafood they’re pretty close but they’re not the same category so dessert wise snack wise not like I’m going to snack on a steak I’m still saying CHOCOLATE!!!!!!

Choc & peanut butter - match made in heaven
Chocolate cake
Chocolate pudding
Chocolate pie
Chocolate coffee
Chocolate milk
Chocolate chip cookies
Hot fudge❤️❤️❤️
Hershey syrup
Mudslides
M&M
I can name you probably 50 different chocolate desserts
Always so very grateful for chocolate❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

:cool1: TGIF! :cool1:

Sorry I missed yesterday - I had to get outside and water my flowers before I went to the gym. It’s been hot here - I gotta keep those flowers hydrated :flower1:

Milk Chocolate - one of my favorite things :goodvibes

#1 - I’m grateful for original m&ms - it’s my favorite chocolate candy, especially when we go see a movie.

#2 - I’m grateful for a local candy company that makes chocolate covered items - I love their milk chocolate - so good! One of my favorites from this company is their chocolate covered graham crackers (they are small/bite size) and I keep them in the freezer - love it!

#3 - I’m grateful for Hershey’s Syrup on ice cream - I don’t buy this very often (almost never since we don’t keep this stuff in the house due to me & DD19 not wanting the calories and DH being diabetic), but when I do have it, it’s like heaven in a bowl. I especially like it on mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Now I’m going to crave chocolate all day - LOL!

What a delectable morning topic, yum!

Morning small 6oz mug of hot chocolate!

🍪

Jell-O Instant Chocolate Fudge Pudding

I no longer drink them but pre pandemic loved chocolate milkshakes! Same with eating chocolate chess pie from Golden Coral.

Grandma cookie and other baking good memories and of how much my beloved grandma loved all things chocolate and sweet! Grandpa loved chocolate brownie ice cream. Dad probably likes best chocolate chip cookies.

Totally O/T Early Favor for anyone in this kind thread to PM me if you would please help me with a very special milestone birthday surprise for my beloved dad. God willing next February he will be celebrating a very special birthday. I am hoping to get him a postcard or card from all 50 states and any countries, would be great, too! I will post a reminder in October as I would ask for any card or postcard contributions sent to me by mid-December to give me compiling time. PM me for more info and huge thank you!

:thanks:dear Leebee! I would want a message for him. I will share his name with you and anyone else wishing to contribute via PM. I'd rather not publicly post. I will definitely post a reminder in late October/early November. I was just asking very early now because I have learned especially these days, it's better to start planning bigger projects way ahead of time. One P.S. I just thought of so I don't forget. Please send anything for him concealed inside an envelope addressed to me so he won't know what it is :)

Behind once again!

Mornings:
1. I am not a morning person so grateful my DH is. He handles the dog in the morning and if any kids need to be moving early he gets them up.
2. My work schedule is flexible so I can generally get to work when I want.
3. The morning light is nice in my house. By late afternoon, even on a sunny day, my house is rather dark—especially dining room and my bedroom.

Relaxation:
1. Vacation—we have just returned and it was relaxing.
2. Reading—really does make me forget my worries.
3. Bath in my jetted tub—I don’t do it often, but very relaxing especially with lavender scented Epsom salts.

Boring Things:

1. An uneventful day with no surprises.
2. Weekends without any plans. This weekend is looking like a free one—first in months—love that.
3. Uneventful trip to doctor/dentist—always a relief.

Cousins:

1. My girls have 2 sets of cousins on my side and one set is significantly younger. My younger 2 girls have babysat them 3 days a week the last two summers. Both have other jobs and they split up days. I feel like this has made them super close.
2. My cousin Pat. She is actually my mother’s first cousin and I always used the honorific “aunt” when addressing her but she is actually my cousin too. She was more like a sibling to my mom and was hugely helpful and comforting when my mom was dying and since then. She is a great blessing in my life.
3. My cousin Dave. I’m not especially close to him and we have never lived close to each other, but he makes sure to come to town every couple of years and always makes a point to get to together with whomever is available.

Combos:

1. Chocolate and peanut butter.
2. Chocolate and pretzels.
3. Veggies and dip

Wacky things:

1. My youngest 2 daughters have weird senses on humor. They talk about the dog as though she were human, insist she “tells” them things and that she even “ texts” them on her Apple Watch. I call it nonsense, but I am secretly amused by them.
2. Our extended family is also a bit off in the humor department. They make up secret “bingo” cards for almost every event and these are sent by text. So when at the family reunion great uncle skip asks the 18 year old when she’s going to “ settle down” and start a family, someone is sure to yell “bingo”. Helps to get through trying times and deal with trying people. Great uncle Skip also likes to loudly discuss people’s weight gains and losses. The generation of my children and my nieces and nephews are the main drivers of bingo, but even my generation participates.
3. Silly times with friends. Early July we were away for my daughter’s sport with a bunch of families. One night we were trying to get somewhere during a downpour on foot, ended up calling Ubers, but not everyone was in a car yet and then roads flooded and it was crazy and somewhat hilarious. We ended up cancelling and once everyone wound up back at the hotel we were all wet and hungry and it ended up being a really fun night.

Plants:

I love plants. I have a big herb garden that I get something out of almost daily during the summer. Some of my favorites are:
1. Basil
2. Cilantro
3. Parsley

Chocolate:

We have a local place that does the best milk chocolate called Sarris. My favorites are:
1. Milk chocolate hard cap for ice cream.
2. Chocolate covered pretzels
3. Foil wrapped Chocolate balls/eggs for holidays. So so good.
