Behind once again!
Mornings:
1. I am not a morning person so grateful my DH is. He handles the dog in the morning and if any kids need to be moving early he gets them up.
2. My work schedule is flexible so I can generally get to work when I want.
3. The morning light is nice in my house. By late afternoon, even on a sunny day, my house is rather dark—especially dining room and my bedroom.
Relaxation:
1. Vacation—we have just returned and it was relaxing.
2. Reading—really does make me forget my worries.
3. Bath in my jetted tub—I don’t do it often, but very relaxing especially with lavender scented Epsom salts.
Boring Things:
1. An uneventful day with no surprises.
2. Weekends without any plans. This weekend is looking like a free one—first in months—love that.
3. Uneventful trip to doctor/dentist—always a relief.
Cousins:
1. My girls have 2 sets of cousins on my side and one set is significantly younger. My younger 2 girls have babysat them 3 days a week the last two summers. Both have other jobs and they split up days. I feel like this has made them super close.
2. My cousin Pat. She is actually my mother’s first cousin and I always used the honorific “aunt” when addressing her but she is actually my cousin too. She was more like a sibling to my mom and was hugely helpful and comforting when my mom was dying and since then. She is a great blessing in my life.
3. My cousin Dave. I’m not especially close to him and we have never lived close to each other, but he makes sure to come to town every couple of years and always makes a point to get to together with whomever is available.
Combos:
1. Chocolate and peanut butter.
2. Chocolate and pretzels.
3. Veggies and dip
Wacky things:
1. My youngest 2 daughters have weird senses on humor. They talk about the dog as though she were human, insist she “tells” them things and that she even “ texts” them on her Apple Watch. I call it nonsense, but I am secretly amused by them.
2. Our extended family is also a bit off in the humor department. They make up secret “bingo” cards for almost every event and these are sent by text. So when at the family reunion great uncle skip asks the 18 year old when she’s going to “ settle down” and start a family, someone is sure to yell “bingo”. Helps to get through trying times and deal with trying people. Great uncle Skip also likes to loudly discuss people’s weight gains and losses. The generation of my children and my nieces and nephews are the main drivers of bingo, but even my generation participates.
3. Silly times with friends. Early July we were away for my daughter’s sport with a bunch of families. One night we were trying to get somewhere during a downpour on foot, ended up calling Ubers, but not everyone was in a car yet and then roads flooded and it was crazy and somewhat hilarious. We ended up cancelling and once everyone wound up back at the hotel we were all wet and hungry and it ended up being a really fun night.
Plants:
I love plants. I have a big herb garden that I get something out of almost daily during the summer. Some of my favorites are:
1. Basil
2. Cilantro
3. Parsley
Chocolate:
We have a local place that does the best milk chocolate called Sarris. My favorites are:
1. Milk chocolate hard cap for ice cream.
2. Chocolate covered pretzels
3. Foil wrapped Chocolate balls/eggs for holidays. So so good.
