Three Things...Gratitude Thread

(Sat, 7/22) - 3 symbols/places/times of relaxation you are grateful for
  • My Standalone bathtub - I didn't think I'd get one when we were house hunting and it is my oasis.
  • When I have the house to myself - DH works from home so I cherish the times the house is empty and I have real time to myself.
  • Spending time in the sun reading a book - True bliss, 10/10 recommend

(Sun, 7/23) - 3 plain or "boring" things you're grateful for
  • I get to eat a variety of different things everyday
  • I have job security
  • I am in good health

(Mon, 7/24) - 3 things you're grateful for about cars/road trips
  • Gas Station Snacks - There is something about stopping at a random gas station and getting a local brand of chips or a candy you've never tried!
  • Cruise Control - Driving down to Disney is so much easier with it! Our old car didn't have it/I didn't like how it worked so I never used it - and now I don't know how I ever lived without it.
  • Heated Seats - sometimes even in the Summer I use these when my back hurts, haha

Today's Topic (Tues, 7/25) - 3 combinations you're grateful for
  • Peaches, Prosciutto and Parmesan - have I mentioned it's peach season?
  • My DH and I - we make a pretty great team
  • Cream and Sugar - black coffee just isn't for me
Phew, I'll keep up better this week - work has gotten a little nuts so not as much time at the computer!

Thank you, Allison Joy, for the sweet 🍨memory. Years ago during visits with family in Houston, I so loved Marble Slab Creamery's Chocolate Mint Ice Cream. It was a rich, sweet, chocolate ice cream with just a little sweet mint flavor, so good! When also, I enjoyed ice cream when I was younger, Thrifty's Brand Mint n Chip and Chocolate Malted Krunch sure made a fantastic combination! Yummy indeed :)

Blueberries and Vanilla yogurt….we were introduced to this combination when we stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn in Maine. It’s been a must have every summer, especially in NJ blueberry season, which is now!!

Cheese and crackers…one snack I do enjoy when watching watching TV. My favorite cheeses are blue cheese and white sharp cheddar.

Bacon and NJ tomatoes, BLT’s were our lunch today. Tom skips the “L.”

Happy Wacky Wednesday Everyone!

Quickie answers again - I gotta water my flowers before work - gonna be hot today,

#1 - Fidget spinners - yes, I still use mine, it’s always in my purse (I’m a recovering nail biter, so when I’m bored or anxious I mess with the fidget spinner instead of my nails)

#2 - My PotC Pez Dispensers on my desk at work

#3 - My BitMojis - I use them all the time

3 Fun, Silly, or Unusual Things. Going to echo @eksmama01 a bit (and yay you're at WDW!!)

1. My kids, DS11 and DD9 and their sense of humor. We drove into Philly yesterday and the laughter and jokes from the backseat was definitely silly and fun! That kids sense of humor. Love it!

2. Sidekicks and the comic relief in movies, but especially Disney animated films and shorts. So many great ones. Off the top of my head thinking Mushu from Mulan, Heihei from Moana, and Olaf from Frozen. They make me laugh a little just thinking about them.

3. My husband's love of the American Bison. He's slightly obsessed, and a pipe dream is to have a bison ranch. Brought to my mind this morning by my coffee cup that has a bison on it, which is actually his cup but we mixed up this morning.

Going to add an extra bit of gratitude for the DISers in another thread that suggested using the Firefox browser with an AdBlocker. I can now easily participate! All of the ads were making my browser crash, and I'd often lose replies. It was frustrating and limiting! I've been reading along on my phone, and can make short replies on there, but prefer a keyboard for longer responses. Anyway, grateful for that this week, and glad to be able to participate!

3 Fun, Silly, or Unusual Things:

The resident 7 year old. He is challenging on his best day but can be so silly/tweaky. I looked in his room yesterday morning to make sure he'd shut off the light before going to camp to discover that he'd emptied his piggy bank and lined up all the coins on his windowsill- standing upright on their edges. He is the KING of the Short Attention Span Theater but he has the focus and patience to do this?????

Shooting the breeze with my TAs. I am old enough to be their grandmother (they are mid-20s, I'm 67 today) but we all sit around, laughing and complaining about the same things. They pick on me for being old, I pick on them for being young and inexperienced, and for missing out on the best music ever (60s-70s).

I like going to art museums. Not that liking art is unusual or strange, but I have always been a math/science girl, organized and analytical. I find it very unusual/out of character that I like art and art museums so much.

@eksmama01 I hope you are having a wonderful trip! We had to cancel this year's trip so I am really missing Disney right now (and living vicariously through the Trip Reports Board)!

3 Fun, Silly, or Unusual Things:

1. Sitcoms of the past - Golden Girls, Everyone loves Raymond, etc. Those shows still make me laugh!
2. Riding in a speed boat - so much fun! I don't get to do it too often, but love it when I do!
3. I'm going to echo a couple others - DS21 - he has a dry sense of humor and cracks me up with the comments he comes up with. He's not a big talker and I think that's what makes it funnier because you're just not expecting it!
