Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Today's Topic (Sat, 7/22) - 3 symbols/places/times of relaxation you are grateful for

Relaxing in a pool, just doing my exercises and chatting with friends.

Sitting and watching my pond, or the ocean or any water.

In Berkeley Spring SP WV a Roman Bath.

When we have a fire in the fire pit and just sit around it chatting

Relaxing into bed at the end of a long day

My "tranquil place" I picture in my head when I need to calm down quickly - a walking path from my college days - woodsy, super quiet, and if I close my eyes, I can still see my favorite spot along it

Plain and boring

1. My life! And I mean it in a good way. I used to have the rat race stressful career. Now I don't.

2. Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Good old daily standbys. Not much excitement, although some may argue otherwise.

3. My Odyssey. We skipped the bells and whistles for the first time and mostly don't miss a thing.

I find going out walking to be mind-numbingly boring, but it's the only way I am going to regain my strength and get back on my feet, so I guess I am grateful.

Roast chicken dinners. Just plain old roast chicken (or rotisserie from Sam's), mashed potatoes (or Stove Top), and a salad. Wholesome, filling, comforting.

Folding laundry. I am picky about wrinkled clothes: Not picky enough to iron, but I like to fold them when they first come out of the dryer and are still warm, to minimize wrinkles. I also align hems and seams when folding, and different things are folded into different sizes, depending on where they are stored. Wanting to fold my laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer forces me to stop, slow down, and spend 20 minutes alone with my thoughts (or Monk reruns... or Murder She Wrote...), while accomplishing something.

Good Sunday Morning!

#1 - I’m grateful for the very boring 2 1/2 hour drive to DD19’s college and back home - I love knowing that the boring drive brings us to her, and I love how she’s an hour ahead, so when we drive home we gain an hour (that hour ahead kinda sucks though for when we go there - LOL!)

#2 - I’m grateful for dusting with Swiffer Dusters - definitely a boring activity that is so much easier and faster with Swiffers - I have a route that I do no deviate from - my family makes fun of me - LOL!

#3 - I’m grateful for The Catholic Channel on Sirius XM - it can be boring, but that boringness has taught me a lot.

I am kind of struggling with this one - what others may think I do is boring but I don’t lf I viewed my life through their opinions I would be depressed and I feel it’s being very judgmental - people around here like to do this - I believe it’s to make themselves feel better for their choices - but that’s just my opinion which I’m keeping to myself verbally

I don’t do a lot I don’t go out I keep to myself, so I just consider that very boring. I consider it staying out of the drama. That was a good thing. I like being at home I like spending time with my dog I have a dog if you’re not gonna spend time with him.
Besides, he’s good company. He listens really well when I talk to him not when I tell him to do something no, he doesn’t listen then, but when I’m talking to him just chatting away with him he’s a very good listener.

Mindless task around the house you know your daily cleanings dishes, vacuuming those kind of things they’re boring, but just saying how would it be if you didn’t do them??? I don’t even wanna think about it

Paying bills is boring let’s face it nobody likes doing it again. How would it be if you didn’t???

So, like I said, I really did struggle with this - I don’t like to view things as being boring because then I would struggle very hard doing them and I don’t want to view. My life is boring because then it would make me very depressed. I like to think everything has a purpose purpose isn’t boring it may not be fireworks and big splashy rainbows all the time, but does that make it boring?

Well said WDWEPCOT! I completely agree with you! Pre pandemic, I did enjoy vanilla frozen yogurt from a local place by my church. It tasted more like soft serve than what I think of as yogurt. I did enjoy that very much. I am a quiet, simple, lady who has zero need for drama, negativity, or for sure crowds! Day by day is such an adventure and blessing indeed--nothing boring about it at all, only joy and humble thanks anew to Jesus, my Savior.

Other simple things I daily enjoy doing and pray to never take for granted:

Most of all the simple and beyond precious JOY of being able to talk with God at any time or in any place and know not only is He listening but that He is glad I am talking with Him even as He walks beside me right then and there. That I may be of tiny service anew to Him every day!

Dad and I being graced to spend everyday moments together such as our mutual enjoyment of lunchtime Campbell's Chicken Broth or doing a fun kid's Hidden Picture puzzle similar to this one. Reminder to me of the vitalness of being still, resting in Him, and truly being at peace.

Wishing all of you a beautiful Sunday of joy!

Plain & simple things:

My evening routine. It looks "boring" on the outside, but it's comforting and relaxing to me because I can be done constantly making decisions for the day.

I second a simple roast chicken dinner!

Old TV shows and movies. Slower-paced, "boring" to today's kids, but sometimes just the right thing.

(Sat, 7/22) - 3 symbols/places/times of relaxation you are grateful for
1. Weekends
2. My bedroom
3. Watching TV in the evenings as I eat my bedtime snack

(Sun, 7/23) - 3 plain or "boring" things you're grateful for
1. Sleep
2. Clean air
3. Water

Also... I might be "on" here more in the next few days, might be less.

We've got the children's musical camp at my church this week, Monday to Friday. I'm one of two assistant directors under the main director, though I do feel like that title gives me more credit than is due...

The kids got the music/books back in early May, and then they auditioned and got their parts in mid-May. They've been working on the music on their own since then, with a couple of check-in meetings/rehearsals for the main parts a solos.

Then, Monday to Friday we put it all together. It's a crazy, crazy intense week, and this is only the third year we've done a week-long format like this, and we've got a new director this year, so we're still "working out some kinks." Pray for us/wish us luck!

Performance is Friday night, 7 PM central time. We livestream it, but I'm not comfortable putting the link on a public forum. If you want the link to watch, PM me, or reply here and I'll send you think link via PM.

I third the old tv shows they were funny and everyone could watch them nothing to worry about - I had such a time finding appropriate programs when my kids were little - we watched a lot of PBS at night - lots of travel shows because the networks had shows that were not appropriate for a little ears !! Same thing for the radio. My kids did not know for years certain artists I enjoyed listening to because I would never listen to them when my kids were in the car because it wasn’t appropriate.
We used to listen to the oldies, and my kids would call them the Crusties 🤣🤣🤣

Boring things:

1. I am thankful for my "boring" life - I live a very comfortable life without a lot of bumps and bruises in it right now and I'm very grateful for that.

2. I'm grateful for the area I live and work in. I live and work in a small town and you sometime have to "find" things to do, but I love it and wouldn't change a thing about it.

3. I'm grateful for my Sunday afternoon nap. It seems boring to be able to take a nap in the afternoon, but I'm grateful when I'm home and get one!

I'm going with the cousin theme. I have a bunch, but will write about 3 for the moment:

I'm grateful for my cousin T~~~ because we grew up in the same town and have so many memories together.

I'm grateful for my cousin K~~~ because she lives the closest to me now and I get to be involved in her little ones' lives.

I'm grateful for my cousin L~~~ (who is technically my dad's cousin) because we connected as adults and have so much in common.

Dysfunctional family here can’t go to the cousins don’t know them
I hate road trips I won’t do them and I really don’t like driving and try to avoid that as much as possible

I guess I could say I’m grateful I’m still alive after my bad car accident, but it left me with lifelong pain, a spinal injury, so far two surgeries, and the threat of being eventually paralyzed - one of the reasons why I don’t like to drive
I am grateful for the memories of learning how to drive and teaching my kids how to drive
