Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Happy Hump 🐪 Day!

Gotta love Gryffindors!

#1 - I’m incredibly grateful for the SROs at our local schools. Two of them are very special to our family. These men would give their life for the students over and over again - they are true Gryffindors - they are awesome men!

#2 - Since you can have traits of more than one house, like Harry, I will include being grateful for my DH again. He was a volunteer fireman (meaning, he has his career, and then he would respond to fire calls when he was home) for about 15 years - you need have some Gryffindor traits to be a brave first responder and he truly was - he took his duty to our town very seriously. He was and still is a certified EMT, officer, instructor, arson investigator and a few other things I don’t remember. At 52 he won’t do this again (he retired about 10 years ago to spend more time with us - we never saw him - I was like a single mom), but he does keep his certifications up to date.

#3 - I’m grateful for my neighbor who was a volunteer fireman with my DH. He retired at the same time as my DH for the same reason. Being a volunteer firefighter is a very brave job, but the sacrifice is being away from your family and we all know how quick our kids grow up and these men (and sometimes women) miss out on a lot of things that people don’t realize. My neighbor is a good man, and one that we do trust with our property when we’re away, We’ve been neighbors for 19 years.

I am especially grateful for all of the Coast Guard recruits we have hosted for Thanksgiving or Christmas since 1998. They are definitely part of the reason I am hopeful that our Country will always overcome the challenges ahead of us.

All involved in keeping our transportation safe.

EMT and hospital people, everyone, whatever they do!

1. All military, but especially the special force personnel who are doing the stealth work while we sleep peacefully at night.

2. Teachers. I mean, really. What they are faced with!!

3. All those who stand up for what is right, even if not politically correct- no matter which side of the aisle.

Good Morning :)

All wonderful replies, thank you all!

1 All delivery workers especially in our current LA stormy weather
2 Ministers and all other types teachers as Eksmama posted
3 All who provide safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly kind health care of any type.

Wow, Eksmama, this lovely thread has been super quiet today other than early on. Prayers that you and everyone else have had a good Wednesday.

:grouphug:Evening hug to all from me and sweet dreams to all wishes as well :)

My heroes are all ordinary people

My grandma, who took us in to save us, and she did, despite knowing she was inviting a monster into her home who would follow behind the people she was trying to save. As an adult I realize what she did, I just wish I knew then to be properly grateful but I was a kid in a storm, I like to think she understood.
The people at the domestic violence shelter I was at when I was little.
The person who married me was very brave, princes do still exist among us.

Missed yesterday -
My 3 brave
Our Service Men / Women & Animals - past Present & Future ❤️
Fireman / Firewomen - brave beyond any doubt
Any person who fights behind the scenes to help during times of War - these are unsung hero’s - no measure can be made for what they do / did to help put an end to the evil happenings and they did this if their own free will knowing what may happen if they got caught

Good Thursday Morning!

#1 - I’m grateful for my Grandpa (RIP) - he would have been a total Ravenclaw. When I was little he was always the person that seemed to know everything - he always enjoyed expanding his mind and learning. He also worked at the University of Chicago.

#2 - I’m grateful for the doctor I work for - another total Ravenclaw.

#3 - I’m grateful for my MIL - she‘s probably 80% Ravenclaw and 20% Slytherin

Ravenclaw Gratitude:

1) My Dad - He set a wonderful Ravenclaw example that learning is an end in itself, and something to never stop doing!

2) My high-school friend H~~, who had a lovely gift for pulling me out of my shell without cracking it in the slightest.

3) I'm grateful to be a Ravenclaw myself!

My old coworker friend - such a wonderful smart helpful soul - I miss her so much and her always happy sunny personality ❤️😎

A teacher I had in High School - I think of him often and hope he is doing well - he was an awesome teacher and helped me a lot

The lady I babysat for - I’ve mentioned her before - I didn’t understand then everything she had going on in her life but it never showed ( well maybe a little ) but she helped me so much - maybe I was also helping her by keeping her mind off her troubles - we did so many fun things together and she helped me - I also hope she has had a blessed life ❤️❤️

Good Morning :)

1 PollyannaMom! For your question creativity, inspiring both young and old to learn, and, of course, your wise and caring friendship.

2 My Dad still enjoys reading the daily print edition of the Times and learning new things through it and crossword puzzles, too. He's also a man of many talents.

3 Thinking this morning of librarians who are often unsung mentors and caring friends inspiring all ages to grow and in kindness and self esteem.

Prayers for safe and fun travels Bobbiwoz and Daisy Duck!

TGIF FRIENDS! :cool1:

I’m going to narrow out it down to my little Thursday second job…..

#1 - I’m grateful for seeing several friends that I wouldn’t see anymore if I didn’t have this Thursday job. These are all my softball friends that I’ve made throughout the years.

#2 - I’m grateful for meeting and getting to know several new people. I love meeting new people, which is why I’ve enjoyed working with the public for the last 35 years.

#3 - I’m grateful for the extra money I make, which is what funded and is still funding my upcoming WDW trip with DD19. When DD19 comes home from school she works and I don’t. I’ll return back there in August when she returns to school and I’ll have to think of something new for that job to fund ::yes:::idea:

@slo - I like your idea of narrowing it down, so I'm going to narrow it down to thinks I can see sitting here in my office.

1. I'm grateful for my decorated office. I've worked at the same place for 26 years and never really did any decorating for my office. About 5 years ago on boss' day, my girls decorated my office for me. It's nothing extravagant, but they hung some nice pictures and it just looks so much more inviting!

2. I'm grateful for my co-workers. We are fortunate that (for the most part) everyone gets along well. It hasn't always been that way for the entire time I've been here, but for most of my years that's been the case and it just makes the days so much more enjoyable.

3. I'm grateful for the water dispenser we got a couple of years ago. Prior to it, we had a water fountain, but its water was awful, so we had to use bottled water. I really enjoy the water and it makes we drink so much more throughout the day!
