Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Grateful even though I only had them for a short time:

A coworker at a temp job I had - She was a few years older than me, at a whole different life stage, but she was so nice and went out of her way to make me feel welcome and included.

Our first house - Even though we outgrew it in only five years, I loved that house and enjoyed the time we lived in it!

A college summer semester in England - It was only eight weeks, but I'm soooo glad I got to travel like that when I was young.

Good Sunday Morning

#1 - I’m grateful for the vacation we just got home from. We are so blessed that our DD19 was part of the college team that traveled this past week (not all girls travel), that every part of the trip was great (only complaint would be about the temps - it was chilly, but I watched the forecast before leaving and was prepared), we saw 2 launches and best of all is that we saw DD19 for 7 days and had great family time with her. The last 7 days were so awesome - so blessed!

#2 - I’m grateful for the store we had for only 5 years. I really hoped we’d have that business until I would retire, but it wasn’t part of God’s plan. It was a great 5 years and because of it I can say that I was a small business owner.

#3 - I’m grateful for the priest that was my DH’s childhood priest. When I started going to Mass with my DH at 20yrs old, he always treated me like he knew me since birth. He always made me feel welcome and he’s a huge reason why I left the Lutheran church and converted to Catholicism. He passed away a long time ago - he will always be my favorite priest and I’m so blessed to have known him.

Short Term:

1. A physical therapist I saw for a summer when I was having foot issues. I’m not sure I’ve ever known someone more suited to the job he was doing. A few years later my husband needed a lot of PT after knee surgery and I told him he needed to see the same guy. My DH is not easily impressed but he thought highly of him as well.
2. The labor and delivery nurses when I had my first baby. They were amazing.
3. An older couple who were neighbors. They lived here before us and have been gone a long time now, but she would call just to tell me that my husband sure was working hard in the yard or that she was sitting looking out her window watching my children play in the yard and how much she enjoyed seeing them run around. They ended up going to a nursing home together and within a few months died within hours of each other. Wonderful people.

Short term -

1. My childhood best friend's grandma - we spend a long weekend there as kids and had the best time! I think of her often
2. The first cruise we took with our kids - they were young and in awe of everything and I was in awe of them. It was one of my favorite vacations ever.
3. One of my college professors - I only had him for one semester, but he made a lasting impression on me.

The social worker/psychologist who helped me deal with being a mother. She happened to be a nun of the congregation Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart. I had always heard that we will raise our children the way we were raised, and I didn‘t want that to happen. We eventually sent one son to Grey Nun Academy. Their emphasis on Love of God has influenced my life.

We have always adopted adult dogs, and so having Midnight for 11 years has been unusual. We have had most dogs 5-7 years, which seems like a short time. Gus is with us 6 years this month.

I am especially thankful for my time as a Brownie/Girl Scout. Mrs. Lorraine Halaciewicz ( we are of Polish heritage) was my leader for less than two years, but I learned so much from her. I remember the overnight camping experiences, and nature talks and hikes. She has been a wonderful influence on me.

Welcome back! I missed your polls. And @LuvOrlando didn't even do any fillers! :teeth:

A lady I used to babysit for - she had a major impact in my life ❤️

The mother of the elderly neighbors I had growing up - she used to sit outside by herself - I went down one day and started chatting with her - we became friends for years until she passed ! Wonderful person full of great stories !

Another very special person in my life who sadly died early way to young - this person meant the world to me and I miss them daily ! I look forward to seeing them in the afterlife more than I can say !!

I really enjoyed reading about your recent vacation, on your other thread. It was fun to see everyone's ideas on restaurants and activities, and I'm glad your trip turned out so well!

Good Morning :)

Short Term:

1 Brenda, the kind assistant of my orthodontist when I was in later junior high and high school who befriended me and became a younger but older adult I could turn to. Brenda and her young daughter who I got to babysit for meant so much to me.

2 Co-Volunteers at the Amercian Cancer Society Discovery Shop.

3 A church camper named George who was a reminder to me that we all simply need to be loved and know we are loved.

Happy Monday

I’m a 100% Hufflepuff :goodvibes

#1 - I’m grateful for DD19 who is a total Hufflepuff too. I tell people all the time that if she’s treated right, she’ll be the most loyal person you’ll ever know ❤️

#2 - I’m grateful for more light at the end of the day now that it’s Springtime.

#3 - I’m grateful for less bone chilling days now that it’s Springtime.

Springtime

1. Easter - "It's not about the bunny, it's about the lamb."

2. Spring Break - we don't have a traditional one in our homeschool, but we take a few days off. She was off Wed - Fri last week to see her grandparents while I had my medical stuff. Grateful the are close enough to help out (3 hours).

3. Despite the pollen - flowers and trees blooming. Although it has been for a month already here.

Happy Spring!

Baby Animals ❤️❤️❤️
Warner Weather - no more nasty ❄️❄️❄️
Although I get allergies I’d rather deal with that than freeze
Flowers & Green grass ( well for others I have a dog ) I’ll gaze at my neighbors yard 👍 the deer are free roaming so the flowers have no chance especially roses a favorite of the deer ❤️
Hummingbirds !!!! I can’t wait for them to return - all the other birds are back won’t be long now !!! Love these little birds !!

Happy Hufflepuff Day ! Values I feel all of us on this Thread carry and show daily ❤️❤️

Happy Spring, Friends and Good Afternoon, too,

Lol, I read "Hufflepuff" as Heffalump! I pray to be a Hufflepuff, too and thank each you:grouphug: for being one, too.

1 Amen, Slo. Easter is all about and for the Lamb!

2 Easter Sunrise Service, Newski Mom, was always my very favorite regular worship service of the year. I pray God willing to be able to safely attend one in person in the future again.

3 New life in general including in my spirit along with 🌸and in🌲May each of you enjoy a bright and healthy Spring.

Spring:

:daisy: Longer, warmer days full of bright sunshine

🌷 And Easter - lots of great holiday memories from Easter when I was a kid

Hufflepuff:

❤️ My DH - I'm not sure he's ever actually taken a sorting hat quiz, but he is definitely one of the most loyal and hardworking people I know!

Flowers

Spring sports

Easter-I'm not religious at all, but it always brings back great memories(and food!) of my family getting together...I now get to have that same thing with my husband's side-it just makes me happy

I don't think I know any Hufflepuff folks personally(#Ravenclaw) and my kids are Slytherin and Gryffindor...my husband refuses to take the test 🤣
