Thread Killers Untied! (no Tker left behind...)

Pikester-It takes all kinds to keep the Dis going. There are only a few posters that I have a problem with. I just try to avoid them. I have learned you need to have a very thick skin for this. But I could never imagine ridiculing anybody for asking for help. My opinion may be different than what they want to hear but I just couldn't be rude about it.

I have a long history on here...sort of. :rolleyes1 I've learned alot of things here, good and bad. If there is something I don't want people to disagree with me about, I won't post it. I learned that in the type of thread you mentioned. I asked a question and wanted a little support from those who had been in my situation before and the only people who answered were the ones who disagreed with me. I was wrong about everything and they were right.

Now if I need support or answers, I just come here. But I do wish others could be nice. And if they don't like what is being discussed, just skip the thread. Too bad everyone couldn't find a great group of friends like we have found here.

I know...it was time. I haven't killed anything for a long while and I might as well start with a thread about Tony. :lmao: :lmao:

Hey, that smilie kinda looks like Tony when he gets mad.

I was thinking more along the lines of Kyle when he's behind someone and can't get past! ;)

I guess it was raining in Chicagoland this afternoon.

And who starts on the pole? Could it be...maybe....Kyle Busch!!! :woohoo:

But I will admit he will have some competition from Jr. Jr might not be winning alot of races but he running up front pretty consistantly. I would even say he's Kyle best competitor right now.

I was reading WallE reviews. Can't people just enjoy something without having to read hidden agendas in them? Really---don't movies have a message the producers were trying to get across? I'm not going to see one to sit and figure out what they were trying to say. I guess I don't make a good reading teacher but then I tried to show the joy of reading. CoolBeans said this:I don't want my movies teaching me how they think I should live. Even if I happen to agree with it, I don't pony up the dough for a lecture.
I wonder what movies this leaves free to watch?

Just because of points. Jr was fast in practice..as was Jeffie and Jimmie. We are just going to have to give Mark Martin a J nickname so he fits in. :rotfl:

I didn't read the thread about WallE only because we haven't seen it yet. But every movie should make you think a little. No, it might not make me change the way I live my life but I think it's all part of the plot. You showed your students a love of reading and as they developed that love, they will seek out books that make them think about things. You layed the foundation and they will build on it.

Last week there was a thread complaining about the movie Flushed Away. The OP was complaining about how a rat in the movie slapped her butt to tell another rat to kiss her behind. She went on and on about how morally wrong all that was and how parents who let their kids watch that kind of stuff are morally wrong. She wondered "What Would Walt DO". And How he would never make those types of movies. But if you think about it, Walt's classics weren't much better. They were kind of violent and stereotypical. Even the ones made by Disney long after Walt died.

Good question. What can we call Mark?

There's a country song out now that says when you see a deer, you think Bambi...I think antlers on the wall.

Could call Mark the Joker or just Joke.

Cause he thinks he'll have a chance for the championship.

Got my dictionary out (still a librarian) and junker is a slang for a wornout automobile ready for conversion into scrap.

"I'm Still A Guy" by Brad Paisley. Love that song and it makes me laugh so much because it sounds just like DH and I. He is one of those type of guys in that song.

Joker would work since he never could decide if he wanted to retire or not. Jr, Jeffie, Jimmie and the Joker....works for me.

Should we start a thread and ask other DISer what they think? No--better not. Some may think we are attacking him because he's so short. Then the over 50 crowd will say we are making fun of his age. And then of course you'll have those who don't care because NASCAR drivers are not athletes anyway and should not be wasting the gas.

You have been on here too long. :lmao: And those are all good reasons to not start a thread on this without people jumping down our throats for what would be a "tongue in cheek" thread. Just can't win no matter what....kinda like Jr. :rotfl2:

I did notice in the Tony thread, nobody really posted but a couple of us. I've noticed there are plenty of people who have references to Nascar in their siggies and yet nobody really replied. Heck, there is even a "competition" to pick the winners each week. It makes me wonder if things are really more "cliquey" than I thought.

I looked at that thread and was looking for your name. I was going to post and ask why noone picked some of the newer frivers. I heard that that's a good track for 1st time drivers but I figured it was just a clique.

I was going to bed early but didn't make it. Mom can't understand how I'm sleepy at 10 when I go to her house...doesn't know how late I'm up during the week. I'll probably peek in later today (Fri.) I have to go to Mom's early to get her to the glass place for her new glasses. They aren't open Sat in the summer. We'll probably go to Friendly's to eat. Have a good weekend. I hate Sat night races.

I wan in on that thread way in the beginning of the season. And then, well...I lost interest. Actually, they are pretty nice there but I haven't gotten back over.

Friendly's....appetizer and some yummy dessert. Did that the last time we went there. Made me feel better about the dessert by skipping the actual entree. :rotfl:

See ya tomorrow!!! Night!!

Good Morning.
I may be doing some random posts.
I'm going back this morning and try to catch up on what all I missed.
May take a while.:scared1:

OK, I finally found where I had to start skimming. I had to start reading on page 98 :scared1:
Up to page 102 but I need to take a break for breakfast.
Be back in a little while but first here are some replies.(although they may be out of date now.)

I must be in the minority here, coz I don't mind shopping for bras. I get fitted every year and look at it as an opportunity to get new cute stuff! I'm a 38D/40C and I seem to have a lot of luck at TJMaxx/Marshalls. Also, this week both Lane Bryant and Victoria's Secret have sales. I just got the VS wireless IPEX bra for $20 and free shipping! This is a great bra, I highly recommend it. Comfy, washes well, and keeps the girls looking fabulous. The website as more range of sizes...

My friends are supposedly coming up for the weekend. Its just so complicated--my gay guys are just so dramatic! Two of them are a couple, and the third is a common friend. Well, one of them really is a drama queen, so the friend has opted to take the bus rather than drive 4 hours with the couple. I don't care how they get here, as long as they do. We have plans to shop, see fireworks, hit the casino and go to the drive-in. Its shaping up to be lots of fun! But I still have to prep for the visitors, which I hate to do....

Shmu, I'm sorry the situation wasn't truly resolved. I hope one day the pastor willl see the error of his ways and use this time as a learning experience. Its so nice that your children are so involved, and that DS is looking out for his sister. They sound so wonderful, I can't wait to meet them.

Oh! I may have booked BF and I on a Wishes cruise on the 17th. I really wasn't planning on doing it, but its the one thing that BF tells everyone about so I looked into it and found a couple who were looking to fill their boat. They seem really nice and have been good in maintaining contact. Since we have free dining, I told BF he's taking care of tips and I'm taking care of secret surprise stuff.
Thanks for the info on the bras. Think DD and I need to go Bra shopping before our Disney trip.:thumbsup2
I love it when friends come to visit.
We can't wait to meet you either.
  Happy about your Wishes cruise.

Doesn't sound much like an apology to me. I would let Sr Pastor know exactly what he said and ask if he feels like that is all that needed to be said. You sure don't. How can you possibly think children are going to listen to what he says if he treats them that way? And is not willing to admit to a mistake? I sure would not like being in the company of someone who treated me or my friend that way.
I'm pretty sure the Sr. Pastor backs us up. That gives me peace. I don't think this will happen again.
Shmu - Your kids are awsome! You must be so proud of them.

Thanks.

Ipod arrived to day! Now I just have to figure out how to use it!:rotfl: My DH installed iTunes the other day so we would be ready to go when it got here. He's been getting the ipod charged and playing around with playlists. I hope I get a chance to try it out soon! :lmao:
   When you figure it out you will love it.

OK, up to page 112.

I have DB and his kids coming. I don't think I've told you that DB has 3 children: all with autism. It makes it difficult for him, he always comes to my house for holidays-Easter, Birthdays, Christmas, etc, their mother doesn't want to be around them so all holidays are at my house because she would rather work than spend any time around her children.
She is a neo-natal nurse and loves the acolades she gets from the "parents of the babies" in the hospital, but doesn't want to work with her own children. :sad2:
She told me "'this is not what I wanted...so don't blame me if I want to get away from 'them'',
"If you care so much, you take care of them yourself."
So it has been for 10 years
I am not happy about the situation, but I have to help my DB
She doesn't know what she is missing-for a woman that wanted a dozen kids, and tormented me for using "western medicine" with my child.

I dont' know what to do.
I guess that is why I''m telling ya'll.
I hate her, and I know that we shoudln't "hate" people but I can't help it.
This just about made me cry. I'm SOOO glad you are helping out your DB.

Thank you. I try not to hate anyone-it's a waste of energy and karma.
I guess it galls me because DH and I wanted more children but that wasn't possible. We are great Aunts/Uncle though. I dont' understand why my SIL feels this way, overwhelmed perhaps but she spends so much time "preaching" to others about the care of children.
BTW-Child Proctective Services has been called on her four times by the neighbors because she lets the kids run amock in a neighborhood with 4 child molesters on the block, and in 100 degree heat-while she(you're gonna laugh) spends her days on the internet on her for "subscribtion only" website that teaches people how to raise their children in an "christian, pure" enviroment, how to home-school, not use doctors, etc.....
Sounds very dangerous to me on the stuff she is diving into and remember I am a home school mom myself. I am familiar with a lot of the information out there and some of it is VERY extreme. A lot of the information is good......but then you have that Extreme part as with every other thing in life. I feel sorry for her. She is wasting a lot of years with her children that she will never get back.

Shmu, he sounds like the youth pastor when I was growing up. He came up with this idea to pass around notebooks and everyone write what they think of the person who's book it was. (remember Slam Books, anyone??) Anyway, some things were nice, some not so nice. Unfortunately for him, I have a photographic memory, and was able to figure out who wrote what, based on knowing which page was my sister's (I knew her writing, of course). So, what did the youth pastor say? "I don't really know you too well. I can't get close because I don't like fat people. It seems they have no regard for one another".:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Yes, that IS what he wrote!!! I still remember it 32 years later! I was so horrified, I never told my mother. When I finally did a few years ago, she said if she'd known then, she'd have gone to the pastor and complained big time. (Like I know I would if someone said something awful about MY kid!)

Some people just are NOT cut out for the clergy. Clearly we've each met one of them! Hugs to your kids. Glad DS will be watching out for DD, and that they'll keep in touch!
   That is HORRIBLE what he did. I hope you know that you are BEAUTIFUL and Fearfully and Wonderfully made.

Looks like I missed everyone. Was busy outside helping the kids catch lightning bugs. Actually, they were catching them and I was only the "official jar holder".
Ohhhh, now I want to go catch lightning bugs. Might do that tonight.:thumbsup2

I'm down another 4 pounds. I'm now officially the "skinny sister"!! hope that doesn't change over vacation...
   SOOOO proud of you.

I finally downloaded the 2 pics we bought from Hershey. They do the ride photo at the end of the tour of the Chocolate Factory.
Love the pic.:thumbsup2

Oh, that's because after you go through the whole nice ride with catchy music, they warn you ahead of time that they are going to take your picture. You think it's at that moment but it's not! You know it's coming but not when you think it is. Nope, not the part with the cute little catchy song that everyone is singing along with and looking happy. It's the part when you know you have to get off the moving ride and step onto the non-moving part and hope you don't lose your balance and fall on you butt. And yet, I buy that ride photo everytime we are there.
So that explains it.:lmao: :lmao: My FIL and BIL went together several years ago and they have the same expressions in their picture.

DH was funny last night, after the call and my post to ya'll he went to start the grill for dinner-figured since we had to canel the Sunday party we should at least get a good meal-that's when he discovered that he was out of propane.
He walked in, said, "I'm putting the steaks in the garage fridge and we'll have microwave hotdogs" He came back in from the garage with a bottle of champange that had been out in the fridge since his birthday. I asked what he was planning-he said, "it's been a s...Tsandwich weekend, I'm toasting not having to have any more "family holidays" for the rest of the year." He poured 2 flutes and handed me one. DD came down and said, "what are we celebrating?..DH told her and she said, "thank god...give me a sip!"
Alls well that ends well I guess.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Love it.

Hello friends! Have to go back and catch up, but I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday weekend. I sure did! I finally got the guys at the train station on Friday and we met Mom at the outlets for a full day of shopping!

I'm fairly close to the outlets, and I've never seen it so busy!

Anyway, I have some pics too!
LOVE outlet stores. Sounds like you had a great time.
LOVE the pics. Thanks for sharing.

Just thought I would repost this as a reminder to get your pictures to Shmu pronto! I want to be able to go on vacation with all of you!

Thanks for the update on Flat TKers. Get them to Shmu...I know I'll look a lot better flat!

I think someone needs to check on Magsnden. She hasn't been around.
2.gif
Maybe MagiKitty should pm her?
Thanks for reminding everyone.
I have PM Magsnden too and sadly, no answer.
