Pepper - So sorry to hear about your dad. Stay positive and keep him positve. Even if it ever looks hopeless. Faith and positive thinking can do wonders. There are so many ways to fight cancer now so it is beatable.
My dad used to be such a fighter. He got through many surgeries with that attitude even when they told him it would be tough. Unfortunately, he got ALS last year and it was one disease he couldn't beat. But God knows he tried hard.

Pikester - Wow...that's some bacheolorette party. Yikes! A little to personal for me. I'd rather look and leave some things for the imagination.

I used to watch Days of Our Lives for years. But lately, with working etc, I've fallen behind. However, when I do get to see it, I realize I haven't missed much. It has really been bad lately.

Disney54uswe went through that "boyfriend/girlfriend" mess here in March. It caused all sorts of MamaDrama when some of the moms found out how out of hand it got.
DD's best friend is a very nice boy and everyone told her that she should be his girlfriend. She freaked out and said no way-he is her friend and wanted to keep it that way! Well the drama ended many friendships but, they are still buddies.
We call our kid's friends that can sometimes be jerks or mean a "frenemy"
Man, I use to watch the soaps, it's been awhile. I liked Y&R

I like it!!!Frenmy, I think that fits this kid perfect. Actually he called to tell me he was sorry, seems he called me a retard today when I was at school. Thats what he told my DS, DS stood up for his mothers honor and told him he better say he was sorry or he would be in big trouble. He claimed he was 'too shy' to come up to me. He's only slept at my house and been here to play numerous times. When we got home he called and asked to speak to me and he said he was sorry for calling me a bad word. I accepted told him it takes a man to admit he did something wrong and that I know that he is a nice kid under his 'tough guy' act.
Y&R I watched that when it first started I was in middle school, was into it in college then got out of it. Picked it up again in my mid 20's then stopped. Picked it up for a while when they put it on Soapnet. Then got so behind things had to be deleted from tivo.

I "watch" all the ABC soaps too. Ok, so I don't really watch them all that much. Do more reading about them than watching lately. I've always wanted to go to Super Soap Weekend. It sounds like so much fun. Don't tell, but I used to watch them so much that DH knew who all the main people were. Still does.

Oh so DS's friend is being a jerk because DS and the girl are friends. Oh geez! At least your DS has a good outlook on all this. Maybe if the friend can't deal with the girl have a friend who is a boy, he shouldn't be worrying about "dating" or whatever you want to call it in 4th grade.

Now go get some sleep. I got to start looking for hotels in S. Carolina or Georgia. Dad "decided" we are going to drive. Even though I told him we should about 2 months ago.

My DH years ago worked shift work so he knew the characters too!!!
Then he'll walk in and go OMG they're still around.
I have some great pic's of many of the ABC stars from soap weekend. There is a great on of DD with the hottie that played Alcazar, a funny story to go with that pic I'll tell later.

I hope you don't have to deal with it any time soon. I wish I had posted about it in March-I could have used help. Our situation almost cancelled DD's birthday party. Someone(an adult) spread a rumor that DD's party was going to be a boy girl sleepover I had the school principal(who I have known and worked for for years) and vice-principal, along with a few other worried Mom's calling about it-they were sure it wasn't true but still had to check on the report.
I was a being a I know you can lose your certification for that sort of stuff!

We sent 2 boxes down with all the household stuff and they arrived at the Boardwalk yesterday. I am going to let DD pack for herself. This should be interesting

I guess my problem is I haven't decided what I will wear yet. I have been fighting a new thyroid issue for 2 months and among other things, my weight has spiked. I have the metabolism of a speed bump add PMS and you can see why I 1)can't make decisions 2)feel like a marshmallow and 3)haven't wanted to go clothes shopping.
Since it's about the same temperature as we have here, it will be shorts, capris and tops. I actually am a dress kinda girl. I wear them all the time because they are cooler. I hate being hot but they are not practical for disney. I've got a pretty good tan going-evened up the farmer's tan from doing the landscaping so I won't be too chunk white to be seen in shorts.

It will work out somehow. I will tell myself, to chill and I don't want my "issues" to ruin a trip.

We are off this morning for DD's band interview and selection-pray for piccolo and not percussion!

Oh bopsmom I can't believe that!!!! I remember when you were planning the Murder Mystery party. That's awful!!!!!!

You are too funny! The one and only bachelorette party I have ever been to had a male stripper. Now, I'm not sure what they usually do at a party but I couldn't believe the stuff that this guy did. He let the Bride-to-be's elderly,oxygenated Aunt look at the family jewels; after she asked of course! He took my glasses and stuffed them in his g-string, gave them back and told me I was a little rooster eyed now! (Do you get what I'm saying? Use a "C" word in place of the rooster.) The big kicker or "biter" was when he stuck his head up my shirt and bit my mammory gland!

I love my soapies! Mostly GH but OLTL has been really good lately. My DS10 even gets into them when all the explosions and hostage taking is going on!

I haven't caught up w/OLTL sort of got lost in sept. Oct. Then had Feb. which I caught most working on April.

Just skimmed thru and wanted to say "hi" in case i don't make it back, but I plan on visiting and commenting at lunch.

But, most importantly - Pepper and Racetrack - prayers for you and your families. The big ugly "C" word can take its toll, but I agree that prayers and positive attitudes all around are the best way to go. My family has gone through some battles as well, and I am a FIRM believer in the power of positive thought.

The talk of going to Disney is making me very jealous. We are booked at Fort Wilderness for early December (the best time to go). I am not sure that trip is going to happen yet, I will keep the reservation just in case and I will keep my fingers crossed. I need to do alot moe Ebaying to get some cash.


My mom is a soap junkie. Her favorite is Y&R. I don't watch any soaps. I don't need to watch about other peoples problems, I have enough of my own (LOL).

Pepper- I hope you hear some good news about your dad soon, I know how stressful it can be. You have to love your dads attitude about it all.

I am off to change the laundry. I am trying to get the house in some sense of order before I start my job. I have no idea what the start date is yet.

I am now the parent of a Beginning Band flute player!
The band director said she was very natural at flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone. She really liked the flute best.
DH is/was a trombone player-in his glory days he even played a gig with Earth,Wind & Fire when they were missing a trombone player.
Thank you Jesus she was not very good at saxophone or percussion. I really hate the sound of a beginning sax player-sounds like an injured goose. And drums-well 'nuf said. I played percussion and we had to buy a van to carry the instruments around.

Well, It looks like I have found a job.


I went to at a seafood restaurant at the oceanfront called Fish Bones. I went to fill out an app yesterday and the owner talked to me when I was done. He said everything looked good and he would call me over the weekend to tell me what day next week they would be doing the training. He said he was hiring a total of 3 servers and he wants all of us to train at the same time.

I do not want to do this long term. I am still holding out hope for a job in an office with better hours so I can see my family sometimes.

Hey guys,

So I decided to come in to my "support group" and tell you my not so good news. My Dad just called and he said they have indeed found malignant strands in his lung biopsy...Not sue what that means, but I don't think it is good. My Dad is positive about it and said that they told him it is not time to panic yet...it's not good, but it is not time to panic yet.

Tomorrow he has to go for a breathing test and if all goes well there they are going to remove the fluid they found around his lung with a needle (i know yuck). If that does not have any traces of cancer then our options are better.

Hopefully it will turn out as well as it did with my FIL back in December. My Dad is calmer than I am (although I did not break his positive attitude rule...that would have made him mad)

To be honest I am a wreck right now. shaky hands etc. My Mom is a mess too, but my Dad says he is not ready to go "sky diving" or ride a bull named "Foo man choo". He said with his luck he would probably break his leg...remember my Dad gets through everything with humor.

Oh honey I 'm so sorry! I will be praying for your dad and all of your family. Stay away from those websites!!!

Had my first visit with my trainer today--no workout just questions and assessment. I like her though. Monday we will start the workouts--she's gonna talk to the PT guy about my shoulder first, so she knows what I need to work on.

It's gonna be a scorcher here the next few days. I may actually have to put on SHORTS!! I never wear them except at the shore, but at 96 I may have to make an exception or 2. At least I'm good on sleeveless shirts.

Well, time to drag the kids out of the pool...

Great choice!!!! Just b/c when I was in school and was accepted to the music class in 5th and 6th and chose Flute, like my DS who had before me. Really that's not why I think it's a great choice.
Funny just turned in DS's trumpet today, so yes when they pick a instrument you do wonder how it may effect your life.

Bopsmom-congrats on being a "beginner flute player mom"!!! DD started playing the violin 2 years ago and thankfully we have progressed the point where she sounds good. But those first few months, well, she won't be changing instruments any time soon. Hey, shouldn't you be packing?
