Good Sunday everyone! I see that everyone is also suffering in this heat. After all the complaining of the chilly weather, it hits like a bang! Its been truly miserable and muggy and I'm just trying not to sweat too much.

Lots to catch up on....I missed Bopsmom leaving! I can't wait to hear about her trip...

I've always wanted to go to Soap Weekends and Star Wars weekends...I not too thrilled with crowds though. I've gotten spoiled attending during the low seasons, and not sure how I'd handle the craziness. I'm a GH fan too, although I haven't watched it in ages. It used to be on after I came home from school and I'd watch it with Mom.

My nephew was with me last night and he shared his own "after Prom" stories. While I appreciate that he feels he can share his personal stuff with me, I couldn't just let him get away without throwing some advice in there. Frankly, I'm shocked at what they get away with now. I had to ask, "how do you get all the alcohol? Kegs?". He said that the PARENTS buy it for them. I couldn't imagine that!

I will say, my parents had an open door policy growing up. Everyone was allowed to visit and stay over (boys and girls) as long as they weren't too loud, they were respectful, and no questionable behavior. And we were good! We were the geeks of th town--watched movies, made food, talked into the night. It seems so long ago now.

I know there's more I wanted to comment on...I'll have to go back.

Pikester, have you eaten at any of those places you plan to make your ADRs? I have ressies at some of the same ones and wondering what your take is. I know due to free dining a lot of ressies aren't available, but I think with only two people, its a little easier to change. I've changed several ressies now and I"m questioning my choices. I'd love any input.

Back to read the past pages!

Sorry, all the restaurants I hope to get ressies for are new to me. The last time we went we ate at Hollywood & Vine, Coral Reef, Crystal Palace, Hoop Dee Doo, 1900 Park Fare and Garden Grill. If you have plans to eat at any of those places I would be happy to give you any input that I can.

Oooh thanks! We have lunch at Coral Reef and dinner at Crystal Palace. I've been reading that the menus posted online aren't really reliable. I'm not too worried about food, we're not that picky, but just about good experiences. We have several buffets planned and I'm trying to imagine whether they're crazy due to the characters and kids running around. I guess, though, that school is open, so the kid factor should be low.

There's also been several posts about being poisoned by the chicken nuggets at Crystal Palace so I'm definitely stayng away from those!

Crystal Palace: We had a ressie there for lunch at 1:05p. We got there a little late due to being on Tom Sawyer's Island. We had to have a pager but I can't remember how long it took to be seated. There were 6 of us and we all thought the food was good. My kids enjoyed this buffet because they were able to eat from the adult food which they prefer. I don't remember thinking that it was crowded. I remember it took a little while for the wait staff to get to us (more due to confusion then being crowded) but we were there for the character parade (my oldest DS was 9 at the time participated). The characters came around to our tables in a timely manner and didn't rush. The kids had their pictures taken with them. We were all satisfied (My husband said it was OK). I didn't think it was to loud but then again it's Disney with thousands of people so I expected it to be noisy. I don't remember any screaming brats though! :rotfl:

Corel Reef: We had a ressie for lunch at 1:10p for 6. We did wait a little while to be seated but was not given a pager. It wasn't that long. If you can get a table closer to the tank go for it. Those tables closest seat 4. From the fish tank there is tiered seating. Not sure now but when we went the food was displayed fancy. I thought the food was good. Atmosphere is a little dark. When I went it was Christmas time so decorations every where; same goes for the Crystal Palace. Not sure what it looks like normally. I just asked my husband what he remembered. He had some fish dish that he wasn't impressed with. My food was good and the kids like their stuff.

I never heard that about the chicken nuggets. My nephew who was with us ate the nuggets the most. Our ressie for CP was on a Tuesday and Wed he was ill. I remember my kids being ill one night (it may have even been Tues night) but our schudules were all messed up so who knows if it was because of the nuggets.

I hope this info helps. I can try to remember more if you need it.

Where is everyone? Melting I presume. I usually love this kind of weather but when it just sneaks up one day and turns dreadfully hot, then it bothers me a little. I really worry about my DH though. He works outside and will have to work through all this.

Pikester-I don't rely on the dining reviews on here too much. I've learned that for every person that says the food in so great somewhere, there will be another who says it's terrible. I've taken to just asking tker's if they have eaten at any of the places I'm interested in. Out of the places you have listed for ADR's, we have eated at Liberty Tree Tavern. We liked it and the food was good for us because we have a picky eater. But the charactre interaction was great. We are trying Sci-Fi for lunch this time too. Read good and bad about that one too but it looks like fun.

MagiKitty-We also have eaten at Crystal Palace and Corel Reef. We had no problems with things being crazy at Crystal Palace. They seemed to keep everything under control and do tell everyone to wait in their seats for the characters to come to your table. In fact, it was any more hectic than our hometown buffet. I don't think the school thing will affect the number of kids though. Free dining is getting to be very popular and many parents will take their kids out of school for that opportunity.

I'm melting, I'm melting!!! (insert wicked witch voice here...)

Oh my goodness it's HOT! The church picnic was not too bad--early in the day, a bit cooler, low humidity, nice breeze, and shade. By about 12:45 it was getting toasty, and we left about 1:15. It was a really nice picnic though.

Bob came and put together my new grill. It's nice, and I can't wait to use it. Probably Tuesday night, since tomorrow we'll get home after 6 and I want something FAST for dinner!

I was so inspired by his grill assembly that I decided to finally get off my duff and assemble the 2 things that have been sitting in my family room for months. One is a butcher block top bakers rack--3 shelves, wrought iron, very nice. I put all my grill parephenalia on the bottom shelf--liners, thermometer, drumstick rack, etc. The other one is a cool "family message center"--it has a shelf, a bulliten board and a chalk board. I figure I can write the dinner menu on there and maybe DD will stop asking me every 10 minutes "what's for dinner tonight?":rotfl: That one we had to hang on the wall, and it took all 3 of us to get it in place after I drilled the holes for the molly bolts. But we did it--who needs a man around the house?!?!:lmao: (well, once the grill is assembled anyway, although I could have bought it pre-assembled for just $20 more.) So I am feeling quite pleased with myself!

It may be an "off' day for exercise, but I certainly didn't spend it sitting on my behind all day!

Weird--I didn't eat alot at the picnic--a chicken burger, some chips, and some fruit salad--but I am still full. I tried to eat some dinner but I really am just NOT hungry! Oh well...must be the heat.

Hi all. Oh my gosh was it HOT today. Tomorrow is supposed to be even worse. I hope everyone had a good Sunday despite the horrible heat. We went out to lunch to our favorite mexican place and then just hung around the house.

I start my job training this week. I have to learn how this restaurant opens, closes, and runs. I am hoping to make some $$$ in tips after I get the hang of everything.

Take care and don't melt in the heat.

Kim

Oh just lost my intro and what I was going to post and then multi:badpc:.
So even though I thought I could play little catch up I am losing my zap now.
So Hi and bye catch you oh it is the AM oops:rotfl:.
They called a half day tomorrow at DS's school due to heat several puplic and private have called it. One has already called it for Tuesday already.

Supposed to be awful here today too. I'm getting everything done in the AM so I can spend the hottest part of the day INSIDE! Our schools all have AC, so no half days here, but BFFs kids have 1/2 days today and tomorrow becuase of the heat. With DD, I'm SO glad fo the AC--if she gets overheated or dehydrated (which can happen quite suddenly), she will have a seizure, so we have to avoid that! I'm SO glad this isn't the week of golf camp--I'd have to keep her home today and tomorrow! Hopefully 2 weeks from now it will be much cooler.

I have my first personal training session today. Looking forward to it!

Hey, question for y'all. When we're on vacation, I have to have someone water my plants or they'll all be dead when we get back after 2 weeks. I was talking to BFF about it last night. She asked who was bringing in my mail. Well, I usually just ask the old guy next door to put it in my garage. Anyway, she suggested I hire the girl accross the street (DD's classmate) to bring in the mail AND water the plants. I thought that was a great idea! She says give her $20 a week, which would be $40 for each vacation. What do y'all think? Does that sound right? Too high? Too low? Just wanted some other opinions. Seems like alot of $$$ for a 12 year old, but maybe it's just me.

I think it sounds fair, so long as she does it. :) Have fun at your very first personal training session! Let me know how it went. I need to get myself back under control that's for sure. Still want to get my own elliptical machine, but I think I might be using that as an excuse lol.

Hot again today, but I like the heat. I do worry about DS and DH working out in it though.

Kim- Enjoy your training!!!! You will do great. :)

Happy sweltering Monday everyone! Everyone keep hydrated and shaded--including your pets! I know mine have parked themselves in front of the AC, the poor fluffy one is suffering the most. And don't forget a hat and sunscreeen!

I got up extra early to get a walk in. Its only supposed to be hot this next couple of days so hoping to make this more of a habit. I'm terrible at the morning thing though--I just kind schelpped into my sneakers and walked for a while. I'm with you Pepper--I would love an elliptical, I just don't have the space. The outdoors is fine to walk around in, but this heat is crazy! Good luck on the personal session whgrn!

whgrn...I think that sounds fair to pay the girl across the street. We went away once and I had asked the neighbour boy up the street to mow the lawn while we were away. Well, we got home and our lawn looked like a jungle! He hadn't done anything! I'm sure he saw it, he had to go by it everyday. Let's just say he didn't get paid.

Good luck on the training Kim!\

Thanks everyone for the info about the restaurants. As I said, we're not foodies, just looking forward to being able to try all these new places. Thinking back to our last vacations, I kept asking BF--where did we eat? The only place we could remember was CS at Morocco and in Japan--my fave places. BF likes Cosmic Rays. But aside from that, I don't think we ate at all in the parks. Not cheap, just too excited to eat!

Talk to you later everyone!

PS--quick reminder, Nashville Star starts tonight! Yeah!

93 degrees at noon. And climbing!

My first session with the trainer was GREAT! I worked hard, but not to the point of pain or exhaustion. It was a good workout, I think. I really like her. But, lets see how I feel in the morning...:scared1:

Holy thunderstorms Batman!!!
raincloud.gif

Does anyone have an ark I can borrow? :rotfl2:
It's been storming here nonstop since Friday. We got about 6 inches of rain and it just keeps coming. (Because you know that 100 inches of snow this winter was just not enough moisture) We've had tornado warnings, basement floodings, closed highways, rivers cresting...etc. So far my house is fine but my mom had a flooded basement. Nothing like mopping up water and sewage on a Sunday afternoon. The stores for miles are out of mops, bleech, fans, sump pumps, and dehumidifiers. ENOUGH RAIN NOW!!!!

To top this all off, I had to go to the dentist this morning to get my first filling in 8 years.
gangsta.gif
It's a good thing I am typing because my mouth is so numb you can burly undastand me. (I think I am drooling too.)

Hope everyone else is having a better Monday.

:lmao: :rotfl2: You are so funny! Wow, flooded basement. Sounds yucky to me! You could send some of that rain here to NJ--we could use it to cool off a little bit!

Thawy yaw dwoowig fwom da detitht. :rotfl:

Uugghhh! This weather is terrible. I love to have a cup of coffee in the morning but it's even too hot for that. At least my DH's boss said if the other guys start complaining too much, they can leave early today.

Got a little news on the vacation front. SIL called me this morning to tell me that they are not going to go with us now. She decided that she just couldn't spend a week around stepmom and her kids. That's fine with me. I rather have her cancel than be down there and be a total witch about everything. But I think she wanted me to tell my dad that they weren't going. No way! That's her responsibility since he was going to rent a big enough van for them to ride along too. Now she says they want to go with us next year. Just us and nobody else. Yeah, we'll see. :rotfl2:

Stay cool everyone!!!!

Here it is.....:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

YEAH! 1000 Congrats!

I've been reading this for 1 hr 20 min! Page 42-50! I'm so hot. I got home and it was 82. I didn't want to turn on ac because I was going to be away for 5 days and if something was wrong with it, there would be trouble in the house with no one here. The one unit is in the attic and it did overflow several years ago and run down my bedroom wall. It was 82 in the living room and hasn't gone down much in the lasat hour but there is water running out of the unit where it's supposed to so I guess it's working.
Lighttech: Were you at HP in the heat? I told my friend in OPrlando, I might as well be there because it's so hot here. Thanks for the info about Randy...I have to remember to flip over. I'm excited to see Nashville Stars on tonight.
Kim: I agree, this job is better than no job...like others said, better will come along. Are you practicing what to say to customers? Someone says-How's the ____ tonight? or What fish is good tonight? You are not to say, I don't know, I cannot stand seafood. :rotfl2: One good response someone gave a friend was I've never had a complaint about that dish before, it's a good seller.
Whgrn: You are being too kind to ex for fathers day...remember he gave you chocolate---which you can't eat. Maybe gift cer to Bath and Body Works or something like that. :lmao:
reactrack: Loved the cancer saying...keeping it to pass along. Thanks.
Pikester: I agree---make up own mind about eating. A friend told me about wonderful dinner they had and the very next day I read a review that knocked all the things she loved about it. The point is---You're eating at DW!
I need to get cooled off...later.

I agree. I went to 3, and 2 were a total mess. My Jr. Prom I went w/ a sort of friend... we really didn't know each other well at all, but neither of us had dates, and we agreed to go together as "friends." It was very awkward. He was sweet, but we had nothing in common.

My Sr. Prom I went w/ a guy that I was ready to break up with. He knew it too, and I think we both hung in there mostly for Prom. Then afterwards I found out he expected me to sleep w/ him! :scared1:  We had been fighting for weeks, didn't have anything to say to each other, and (too much personal information, I know) but had NEVER been anywhere CLOSE to that far... and he knew (I thought) that I had no intention of it. I wound up breaking up w/ him that night and then being stuck at the afterparty w/ all of "our" friends basically not speaking to my date.

The 3rd was better. That was actually my first date w/ DH. He was a year ahead of me in school, and I went to his Sr. Prom w/ him. We had just started getting to know each other, and it was a really fun night. Lots to talk about and ask each other, and nothing expected but a goodnight kiss. Old fashioned guys will still get me everytime.

Oh, BTW for anyone interested, Randy Travis will be on air this Monday night. (11pm-ish, I think). I, unfortunately won't be in the studio... I'd love to see him in person.

Sounds like third time was the charm for you.

Oh how exciting and can't wait to see the pic's!!!!
No not unreasonable, if the school is not having a after party then you don't need her going to any that the kids are having on their own. DD usually comes back and I'll order them wings or pizza and her BF hangs out and even though he drives the first year you have a license it is provision and you have to be off the road by 12:01AM so his mom picks him up.
Keep up the faith and you DD might just do this trip with you all after all:goodvibes.

Ahhhhh, I can always count on other parents to agree with me. hee hee. Heck, my first thought when I asked them what time Prom ended was "Prom ends at midnight??!! are they crazy??!!" but I let that thought go ha ha.

She is at the beach right now, but when she gets back I will have her upload the pics for me (she has to do all that stuff for me ha ha) She should be home soon because she is not allowed at the beach after dark (it becomes a totally different place after dark...very creepy place at night lol)

12:45a is not too early! Although, I was able to stay out as late as I wanted, which turned out to not be that late. I was a good girl too!

Prom, Prom, Prom. When I was asked to go to the prom it was "just as friends". By the time we ended up going he had a girlfriend from the next town over and she snuck in and they spent most of the night in the corner. I did not have the greatest time. I so wished I would have gone with someone else.

I can't wait to see pictures! I hope she has a good time. Some guys can be so sweet!

She had a blast!! This guy is so sweet he emailed her the next day thanking her for making his Sr. Prom special. How sweet was that??? Her boyfriend is the same way though. I think it is totally cute that her friend asked her boyfriends permission before he asked her. Too cute ha ha.

pepper-thought you would be up tonight waiting for DD to get home. From what I read, it sounds like "the friend" has a little crush on DD. Can't wait to see the pics.

Ha ha. Don't let DD hear you say that about the crush. She has already worked through one crush with this kid. She loves him to death as her friend, but she just is not "in to him" as she puts it ha ha. Oh, and I was up all night but DH was being a computer hog!!!

ok, since I am up all by myself, I thought I would take a moment to vent. Hope you all don't mind. :goodvibes You all know the trouble we have with DS. It was only, maybe 2 weeks ago, that we have to pay one of his friends some money because he stole some stuff from his house. Ok, alot of money, $150 to be exact. When you have 4 kids and one income, 150 is alot when you are saving to better your life. Guess where he is right now? He is off camping with "his mom". Yep, he gets to go fishing (which he loves) and hang out with any other kids that are around. DS's mom's reply to everything that happens now is we have custody, and it's our responsibilty. We don't know what to do anymore. It just seems to be a losing battle. My heart breaks for him because he doesn't seem to realize that he is pushing the people who care the most about him away.

Stick with him. I will send prayers your way. Kids tend to turn themselves around with lots of love and support. Of course, it sounds like you are not getting much help on the "mom" front. She needs to step aside and let you handle it. Heck, for that matter if you have custody I say the answer will just have to be "no" to any other fishing trips until he can behave. I'll be thinking about ya. Let me know if you need to vent. I went through it with my nephew.

1000 YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are official now. :yay: :yay:

okay, let's see if this lets me post without "You are only allowed 25 images an you have 56" :rotfl2: oops, there's another one....

I'm a jinx to air conditioners...on way home Sunday, we stopped at Friendly's to eat. The refrigeration man was in the back and so we asked if ac was working. He said he just got it going and wasn't too bad. I came to my house today and turned on ac and it's not getting cooler---81! Went to Hoss's for dinner and quess what---no ac! It wasn't too hot though. So went to grocery store and took my time---it's really cold there. I felt like asking for a job!
My trip to the shore was wonderful though. Didn't get too hot until Sunday when we got up. My mom had a great time. I'm not sure if she'll let me go without her anymore. ;) She loved Cape May too---we took a trolley tour of the cottages. There was deli called Kabutz Down the Shore in OC. I also saw a reality company called Down the Shore. I was not as busy as when I've been before but maybe it was still early with kids in school.

It is just too darn hot! We finally had the boil order lifted for my town so the kids played with the sprinkler for like 5 seconds. :rotfl: My neighbors have a pool so my kids are often invited over to swim with their kids. DS7 was over there after school with his BF6. DS10 wasn't invited but normally asks if he can swim anyways. He has suddenly become shy and won't ask. He claims it's not the right thing to do! Go figure!

Oh, and I had to work today as a sub at my son's no ACed school! 300 kids hot and not able to drink the water. :scared1: (For atleast part of the day then they lifted the no boil) We also had a fire drill. I was suppose to sub for a para but when I got there I ended up subbing half the day as a different para and the other half as a teacher. I will be subbing for the same teacher all day Thursday and praise the Lord the temps/humidity is suppose to go down. Amen!

Well, I'm going to go sit and sweat in front of the TV. The only thing good about this weather is I don't feel like eating much. Maybe I can sweat away a few pounds.:p
