Oh pepper, I totally missed your update. I am so sorry to hear that it is malignant. I did the same thing as you and checked all the lung cancer sites. Pretty much killed me to see all that. But in searching those sites, I also researched alternative treatments that are out there. And there are getting to be alot. Being as this is my mom's 3rd fight, we have learned to live by this saying....

WHAT CANCER CANNOT DO

"Cancer is so limited..."

It cannot cripple love,
It cannot shatter hope,
It connot corrode faith,
It cannot destroy peace,
It cannot kill friendship,
It cannot suppress memories,
It cannot silence courage,
It cannot steal eternal life,

It cannot conquer the spirit.

I have lived by that for a long time. Please feel free to email when you feel up to it. I'll always be there to help in any way that I can.

Racetrack- I'm sorry to hear that about your Mom. I hope she is doing well, and I will include her in my prayers tonight too. That makes you even more special than I thought because even in your own stressful times you were willing to reach out to me and offer support. That says a lot about a person ya know. ::yes::

I am starting to calm down and I slowly feel my normal positive self trying to break through (I really do get that from my Dad...go figure lol)

K, I am making it waayyy too depressing around here. :goodvibes I don't know about ya'll but I would rather talk about Kim's new job and how I am gonna show up and spill my drink or something. Much happier news. ::yes:: :rotfl:

You must have posted the same time as me!! :goodvibes I really like that saying you posted. It offers a lot of comfort. Our family has never been through anything like this. We all feel a little blind (again except my Dad who really thinks we are all over reacting...I hope he is able to keep that attitude, that could be what saves his life!)

pepper, you're gonna make me blush saying all those nice things. You dad has a wonderful outlook, and you are right, it will be a big difference.

Now, if you are going to visit Kim at work, we may all have to send a flat tker to you so we can all be there to spill drinks and give her a hard time. Of course, everyone else in the restuarant might think you are a little strange.

See you're on-line Pikester.

Hey guys,

So I decided to come in to my "support group" and tell you my not so good news. My Dad just called and he said they have indeed found malignant strands in his lung biopsy...Not sue what that means, but I don't think it is good. My Dad is positive about it and said that they told him it is not time to panic yet...it's not good, but it is not time to panic yet.

Tomorrow he has to go for a breathing test and if all goes well there they are going to remove the fluid they found around his lung with a needle (i know yuck). If that does not have any traces of cancer then our options are better.

Hopefully it will turn out as well as it did with my FIL back in December. My Dad is calmer than I am (although I did not break his positive attitude rule...that would have made him mad)

To be honest I am a wreck right now. shaky hands etc. My Mom is a mess too, but my Dad says he is not ready to go "sky diving" or ride a bull named "Foo man choo". He said with his luck he would probably break his leg...remember my Dad gets through everything with humor.

Okay, thanks for letting me get it out guys.

Racechickiiegirl- I'm probably going to wind up needing that email support lol. Right now though I don't even know what to say, ask etc...I'm just kinda numb. I made the mistake of going on a website for lung cancer....bad idea... it had a lot of peoples pictures that had not survived. I think I will refrain from those sites for now.

Oh pepper:hug: and prayers, but try to 'feel' your dad's attitude, I do believe that get people through alot.
Stay off of those web sites!!!! To scary, you are in VA in the area of Med schools etc. so there are some of the best hospitals around. That's if it turns out how we don't want it to. You also have some of the best heart and lung hospitals no more then 6/7 hours away. There is so much and I know lung and the word 'cancer' attached is scary as he dble hockey sticks, but don't go there yet, I know it's hard but just see and then know that now and where you guys live there are options for treatment. Prayer chain going:goodvibes.

Kim-that's good news about the job. I'm with MagiKitty on this one...mmmmm seafood.
eat.gif

MagiKitty-I check out the budget board all the time too. I love the freebie thread but I haven't checked it out for a while. Going to have to again since our trip is getting closer. I'll tell you though, there are some real interesting threads over there. Was reading one yesterday about people who get reduced/free lunch for their children but yet have money to buy DVC. :scared1: Don't mean to offend anyone but I just think that is wrong.

pepper-oh, I didn't mean I'm playing the waiting game right now. Sorry I wasn't clear. My mom was diagnosed last August for the 3rd time.

Sort of miss that and didn't want to bring it up, wasn't sure.

racer, that is so beautiful, I don't know where or who it came from but it is the first time I have seen that and let's all keep that montra going weather for a friend, relative, whoever it does not matter this just speaks words.

pepper, stop that's what we are here for good times, bad, funny, stupid, sad.
Okay you have our permission to show up and spill your drink:rotfl:, as long as it is Kim that comes to your rescue and makes herself look good with the boss:thumbsup2.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Hi racer chicky:rotfl2: see came on to be here w'yall.
Flat Tk'er:rotfl: sounds good.

I'm here. Just looking for some new smilies but can't seem to find one that I want to use. Oh well.

I was going to mulit quote but I don't have time. I really need to get to bed early tonight. I have lots to do tomorrow for my PTO fundraiser on Saturday. I can't believe we are suppose to have temps near 90 and humid! Atleast it's not suppose to be raining.

pepperw23 I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I will say a prayer for him. This is for you

kimluvswdw Woo Hoo on the job! :cool1:

Hi racetrack18kb! I found a cute smilie for you LOL!

Good Evening to everyone else!

Until tomorrow!

Pikester-that's real cute. :lmao: Don't make me spend my "mommy time" looking for some smilie just for you. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Okay night owls brb need to catch up with my secret :listen: yes I do watch the soaps!!!! Develop that habit when Beloved DDad was in the hospital for 41/2 months, yep never thought I would watched them years ago (young days) and got sucked in. Even admit been to Super Soap weekend two times at disney. Just blame my mother oh and DNiece, really I would go in and make fun of them. Day after day I would go there dad coded after selective surgery and never came back. He was as they told us brain dead, and I would sit hour after hour. I figured out what was going on and yes I admit it became addicted again.
I think there is a part of me that still likes to watch b/c it brings me back and never forgets that time. So as time goes on I know why and how I started watching and in a strange sense that is okay.
Okay, talk about being depressing, so going to catch some Tvo action on GH a few behind and be back checking.
I think at this point we need to go to a virtual bar and start singing a 'happy song' with the virtual piano player:goodvibes.
Just was interupted by DS telling me he couldn't sleep seem DS's friend and I use that term freely is being a jerk. It is dis boards kids. Well 4th grade stuff and he just came back down to tell me that it all started when Ds's friend and a girl b/c girlfriend and boyfriend:eek:. Well my DS and this girl have been friends for a long time and I just laughed and said oh I get it now.
He was like why? Because you and _____ have been 'friends' for a while now thats why.
Yeah this all sounds bizzare, we are talking about 4th grade, maybe this is why I gave up my late nite post here:lmao:

Watching soaps doesn't have to be a secret. I've watched them for as long as I can remember. Of course now I watch them late at night on Soapnet after everone else has gone to sleep. :rotfl: Do you only watch GH?

Oh man, that kind of trouble already. Right now, DD is in the boy denial stage. :rotfl: Nope, don't like him, he's only a friend. :lmao:

Started by getting addicted to GH, and DN was up much of the time with everything going on with dad, we have Direct TV and always had soapnet, and she would watch back then they repeated over and over. But soon would watch all the ABC soaps, I got so far behind, GH is the main one I try to catch up on first or at least stay ahead. I tvo all three and on a boring nothing going on night I'll play catch up with the others. Do have to admit Super Soap weekends were fun!
Oh yeah, well DS's 'friend' he's mister cool all that and a bag of chips, and my DS would always laugh just like tonight b//c the one girl he always was were friends but I think thats why it bothers DS's friend because DS and her are close friends. Wow this is so stupid for the life of me they are in 4th grade.
What was bothering DS was why his 'friend' was being a jerk, but this kid has that attitude in him and does this with all of the class and as long as they don't buy into his I'm all that he usually settles down.
Well play day tomorrow so I should go nite nite, glad I got to be up and 'on board' it's been a while.

Pepperw23:hug: hope all goes well with your dad.:pixiedust:

Disney54uswe went through that "boyfriend/girlfriend" mess here in March. It caused all sorts of MamaDrama:faint: when some of the moms found out how out of hand it got.
DD's best friend is a very nice boy and everyone told her that she should be his girlfriend. She freaked out and said no way-he is her friend and wanted to keep it that way! Well the drama ended many friendships but, they are still buddies.
We call our kid's friends that can sometimes be jerks or mean a "frenemy"
Man, I use to watch the soaps, it's been awhile.:) I liked Y&R:thumbsup2
:hippie:

I "watch" all the ABC soaps too. Ok, so I don't really watch them all that much. Do more reading about them than watching lately. I've always wanted to go to Super Soap Weekend. It sounds like so much fun. Don't tell, but I used to watch them so much that DH knew who all the main people were. Still does. :rotfl2:

Oh so DS's friend is being a jerk because DS and the girl are friends. Oh geez! At least your DS has a good outlook on all this. Maybe if the friend can't deal with the girl have a friend who is a boy, he shouldn't be worrying about "dating" or whatever you want to call it in 4th grade.

Now go get some sleep. I got to start looking for hotels in S. Carolina or Georgia. Dad "decided" we are going to drive. Even though I told him we should about 2 months ago. :rolleyes1

Night!!!!

Hey Bopsmom, you decide what you are packing yet? "Frenemy" is a good word for what seems to go on nowadays. I am so glad we haven't had to deal with much yet but I'm sure it's heading our way soon enough.

I hope you don't have to deal with it any time soon.pixiedust: I wish I had posted about it in March-I could have used help. Our situation almost cancelled DD's birthday party. Someone(an adult) spread a rumor that DD's party was going to be a boy girl sleepover:faint: I had the school principal(who I have known and worked for for years) and vice-principal, along with a few other worried Mom's calling about it-they were sure it wasn't true but still had to check on the report.
I was:furious: a being a :teacher: I know you can lose your certification for that sort of stuff!

We sent 2 boxes down with all the household stuff and they arrived at the Boardwalk yesterday. I am going to let DD pack for herself. This should be interesting:rotfl2:

I guess my problem is I haven't decided what I will wear yet. I have been fighting a new thyroid issue for 2 months and among other things, my weight has spiked. I have the metabolism of a speed bump add PMS and you can see why I 1)can't make decisions 2)feel like a marshmallow and 3)haven't wanted to go clothes shopping.
Since it's about the same temperature as we have here, it will be shorts, capris and tops. I actually am a dress kinda girl. I wear them all the time because they are cooler. I hate being hot but they are not practical for disney. I've got a pretty good tan going-evened up the farmer's tan from doing the landscaping so I won't be too chunk white to be seen in shorts.

It will work out somehow. I will tell myself, to chill and I don't want my "issues" to ruin a trip.

We are off this morning for DD's band interview and selection-pray for piccolo and not percussion!:rotfl:

I haven't gone back to read everything yet.
I will.
Just wanted to check in and let everyone know that my nephew is fine.
He didn't do anything stupid, Thank God.
Long story short,
He found out his girlfriend of many years was cheating on him.
He got angry. :furious:
He is all OK now.
He has some very good friends and a fantastic set of parents.
He is back to my big ol lovable nephew.
I'll check in and catch up a little later.

Miss you guys. :grouphug:

I was glad to hear that your Nephew was ok, atleast physically. A broken heart really stinks!

Morning everyone! I'm missing for a few days and the thread gains FIVE PAGES?!?! Whew, lots to catch up on....

Good news is we found a wedding dress! Lucking my GF is a sample size 10 (I love her despite this) and we were able to find a dress off the rack! There's minimal alterations to be done, but nothing major....still looking for a veil. Killled my feet walking around the city. Was even blatantly laughed at when visiting bridal shops when they heard the wedding is in 2 1/2 weeks. But ha! We found it and things are really rolling. I'm basically on wedding duty for the next few weeks.

Strangely, while thoroughly enjoying all the wedding hoopla, it has not inspired my own nuptial bliss. BF (not David) really doesn't beleive me, considering I'm such a girly-girl and will ordinarily embrace any chance to wear a fluffy dress and tiara (which I will be wearing for next weekend's bachelorette party!). I don't know....I didn't expect this myself. I'll have to think about it.

Now, to go back and play catch-up! Have a good day all, hope everyone is safe, healthy, and blissfully happy. Talk to you later!

I remember planning my wedding in 9 months. Now it's years in advance and tons of money. Well, for some people anyway. Glad your friend was able to find what she wanted. That always gives you the best feelings!

Hi and welcome back!!! Sounds like a fun time in the city:goodvibes. Have fun catching up, remember 5 is better then the 30+ I had to do:scared1:.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Well off to pay the tax man!!!!!:scared1: :furious: :faint:

We just got our taxes the other day! BOO! HISS! HISS!

I am such a doody-head. I completely misled all of you. The wicked bachelorette party is next Saturday. I seem to have lost track of days. This weekend we are making music playlists for the reception and making goody bags and centerpieces. Not nearly as much fun, but fun nonetheless! I think I may wear my tiara anyway!

What goodies awaiting in the mailbox! Free undies, free deodorant, free picture book, and my husband David Cook! I frequent the freebie board and today is the mother lode! I'm going to start using the deodorant in prep for the wedding. The picture book was a promo from Shutterfly, and David and the undies....well you can figure that out! Seriously, it was my ticket to the concert! I put in a wonderfully safe place....with the undies.

Hee, hee! Nah, I put the undies away for the trip in September (after I see my husband David Cook). I just found out why he's not in the news as of late, he has a week off before prepping for the tour that starts this month. I hope he's being faithful to me...

You are too funny! The one and only bachelorette party I have ever been to had a male stripper. Now, I'm not sure what they usually do at a party but I couldn't believe the stuff that this guy did. He let the Bride-to-be's elderly, oxygenated Aunt look at the family jewels; after she asked of course! :rotfl: He took my glasses and stuffed them in his g-string, gave them back and told me I was a little rooster eyed now! (Do you get what I'm saying? Use a "C" word in place of the rooster.) The big kicker or "biter" was when he stuck his head up my shirt and bit my mammory gland! :scared1:

Well, that's it for this multi quote. On to the next!

Just skimmed thru and wanted to say "hi" in case i don't make it back, but I plan on visiting and commenting at lunch.

But, most importantly - Pepper and Racetrack - prayers for you and your families. The big ugly "C" word can take its toll, but I agree that prayers and positive attitudes all around are the best way to go. My family has gone through some battles as well, and I am a FIRM believer in the power of positive thought.
