lighttech...sounds like you're making great progress on the daycare issues! I knew something would come up that would work for you all around.

Thanks for the PM, I tried to do as instructed, only now I see TWO boxes in my siggie. Its making me giggle.

Hi, everyone and thanks for all the well wishes for DN. They canceled on her:eek:. She had to call in at 5:30 and they told her to call back at 7:30 since they were busy. She called at 7:30 and they told her the charge nurse was busy and would call her back, when she did she told her they were 'understaffed' and couldn't do it till Monday. I think that means it's Easter we have people off and we don't want more work so please wait:laughing:. So now we have to wait and see if nature takes it's course b/f Monday. The problem is that Her DH was due to come home for R&R but got Mono, so they told him he couldn't leave Iraq till the April. So she won't have her DH there and her BFF now lives 2 1/2 hours away. She and her Husband came up to bring her her rocker and she took the week off of work. She is due to go home this weekend. She will do her best to get back, but her husband has work, she has 2 kids under 2 and she works p/t. Her mom is their but I know DN wanted her BFF their with her too.

Good rainy morning from NY! We're on a flood watch today. I live on a hill, so flooding isn't so much an issue for me, but its looking to be a dull day and the rain just adds to the mood.

I love those cupcakes! How adorable! Although the skin-colored frosting is kinda freaky...people are so clever!

I've decided to keep the weird photobucket sign. My original TK banner will return. (This is being said after I had tried to futz with it to no avail.) I don't know what happened--I don't remember doing anything different. I feel strongly that my banner will return to its normal state. I will be an undeclared TKer.

disney54us...any news on the arrival of the little one? How's the DN handling things? Special prayers her way on this important occasion.

Finally finished laundry late last evening. I did a total of 11 loads! I got my exercise going up and down the stairs. I also place the laundry basket across the room from my folding area so I have to walk back and forth, back and forth. I also do it in heels--better calf workout that way. Hey, every little insane bit counts!

Good day everyone! Talk to you later....

:laundy: 11 loads and heels!!! You go:cheer2:

Stealing a moment... sorry all, my head hasn't really been in the right place. Can't stay, but wanted to end the suspense.

End of August! (Its gonna be a looooong, hot summer! :rotfl: )
:dance3: August:beach: Thank God for A/C and Ice Tea!!!

In the spirit of forwarding our technical knowledge. Has anyone else tried the "Buddy List" yet? I put you all on it, and now I can open it up and see which of you is online w/o checking for the little green dots in the thread. Its kind of fun.

If anyone wants a more full explanation, let me know and I'll post later.

Please do explain more, of course I probably won't get it:confused3.

Hey everyone. Rainy and dreary here too. At least it's kinda warm but still missing the sun.

DH lost his wallet either last night or this morning. Been tearing the house apart for the last hour trying to find it. So now he's off the the DMV and the bank. Thankfully he doesn't carry the regular cc. And no strange charges have turned up on our bank account so far. Hopefully we'll get lucky with that.

MagiKitty-11 loads of :laundy: I can sympathize.

disney54us-any word yet?

Sorry if I missed anyone in the replies...been a little hectic around here. :goodvibes

Uggh did he find it yet???? Check the car in between the seats.

Bleck - (I think that's how to phonetically spell that grossed out sound.) I can't imagine morning sickness improves w/ heat. So glad I'm mostly done w/ that phase. Although, this time around, the fatigue was much more my enemy than the sickness (although that was worse than last time, and no fun either). But, I was just constantly beat, and keeping up w/ a 3 yr old became quite a challenge. I was SO happy when my energy started coming back.

Yes, I understand about the needs and wants. I know there are places we'll be able to cut back. I keep thinking there's very little we spend on now, but I'm sure there are places to skim the fat still. (Although, aside from just hitting the maternity dept, I can't remember the last time I actually bought clothes! Thank goodness I have simple tastes. Jeans and t-shirts don't ever really go out of style. The fact that I'm wearing things from 10 or so yrs ago could really be a problem if I had tried to be "stylish" in the 90s! )

On the upside, I just called the local YMCA. Their rates are much more promising. Too bad they don't offer part-time... it could be actually affordable. Of course, now DH is complaining that he'd have to drive farther on the 1 day he picks up and the 1 day he drops off. (1.7 miles and 3 minutes farther than our current situation... I just google mapped it so I'd have the facts straight for later.) I'm trying not to pick on him b/c he really is very supportive, and I know he's just stressed too, but, seriously... I called him all excited that I had some potential good news, and he just kind of bummed me out instead by complaining. Men. :sad2:

I'll still need to go visit and check it out, but the toddler program sounds great. They even have a cooking day which DS would go nuts for. I'm very particular about the infant care though, so I'll need to see that w/ my own eyes.

The other interesting thing I'll be keeping an eye on is that a lot of YMCA jobs seem to be at off hours. Might be some potential there too... Probably more interesting than a grocery store job. (I did that for years. I'll do anything I have to, but I'd rather not cashier again... I was so excited when I got moved to the bakery at the last grocery store I worked at.)

Well, our few stolen moments are over TK'ers. Have a good day! :cutie:

Sounds like a good program:thumbsup2 Check it out and see, like the cooking class, baby steps little by little you will figure it out and it will all come together:hug:.

:3dglasses: Yeah!!!! We have confirmation. End of August:3dglasses
We'll plan your virtual baby shower for early Aug.
Yes lighttech...please share the "How to" of the Buddy List. I just went there to try it. Put you on it, but can't figure out how you can tell who is on or not:confused3 . Must be doing something wrong.

Magikitty - You should publish the "Guide to Turning Everyday Chores into Exercise" :lmao: Could you tell me how many calories are burned with each load? :lmao:

Dreamin- Hope DH finds wallet soon.

Sorry it didn't work!! I don't know why the same link would show it for me, but not for you! I'll see if I can figure out something else. I'm no computer whiz, but sometimes if I futz I can figure something out.

What a bummer. Oh, we're all thinking of her! I hope her BFF can stay, but its certainly understandable that she would need to get home. But, sometimes, I do think its better to have one dedicated person. I don't know if I would have wanted any extra people in the delivery room. Well, whatever happens, I just hope it results in some very happy, healthy people... big and small!

I will try and post about the "buddy list" tomorrow. I want to do step by step instructions, and that takes me a while.

'Night all!

Oh D&DDisney, 11 loads of laundry in cute heels doesn't burn nearly enough calories that I need it to. But I get to break in a new pair of shoes and pretend that it does more than it really does.

Hi Killers

Finally getting a chance to relax. I am totally exhausted in every possible way. It has been quite a couple of days.

Yesterday, after leaving my phone in the car while I was at the gym (no phones allowed--I will NEVER obey that rule again!), I returned to a call from DS's school (they'd called twice while I was in the gym). They needed me to come into school and meet with the counselor and the case manager from the child study team. OKayyyy. LOOOOOONG story short, walking to class in the AM, DS and 2 friends (who are wonderful boys who I adore) were talking about whether John Lennon and George Harrison were in heaven. DS replied something about that he would commit suicide and find out. One friend got scared and told the teacher what DS had said, and the 3 boys were called in to talk to the counselor. DS got scared, thought he was in trouble, and clammed up, which is when they called me. I had to go in (to the PRINCIPAL's OFFICE!!:scared1: ) and then had to take DS home with me. They said I could take him to the crisis center at the hospital or to the his psych, but he couldn't come back until he was cleared. So we saw the psych, no problem, it was an offhand remark, didn't mean anything, he certainly is not suicidal in any way, etc. But it scared the wits out of both of us (and also pointed out how blessed DS is to have such good friends, who did exactly the right thing, even though it was much ado about nothing)

Today I had to call the cruise line (we are going on a Mississippi riverboat cruise this summer with my parents and brother), because they had left a message while my parents were away, asking if they were still going on the cruise. Huh? So I call and the guy tells me that my parents' reservation was cancelled for lack of payment. WHAT?!? The entire thing was paid in full in December! We booked a year in advance so Mom could have the handicapped cabin she needs, and now they've cancelled???:scared1: Turns out, when my sister cancelled HER family's cabin, they also had to cancel her DD, who was staying with my parents. In order to do that, they had to cancel and rebook my parents, which I knew, and this was done a few weeks ago. Well, apparently when they rebooked, the payment didn't transfer to the new booking. So now we have a cancelled reservation--what do we do? The guy fixed everything, they still have their cabin, the payment was transferred, but it was quite a scare for a while there!

Just when I thought I was in the clear, I get a call from DD's school. The counselor. OMG, NOW what?!?!:scared1: OK, so apparently, on Monday, DD and friends were talking about video games, DSs, PSPs, etc. A boy said he wished he had a PSP, and DD said "I'll sell you mine for $100". Only problem is, she doesn't HAVE a PSP--it's her brother's!! She told me Monday that a boy at school wanted to buy the PSP for $100, and I explained that it isn't hers to sell, it's Danny's. End of story...I thought. Well, apparently, said boy showed up at school yesterday with a crisp $100 bill and gave it to DD!!! And today she was to bring him the PSP. Somehow, other kids found out she was walking around with $100 (since yesterday!!:scared1: ), and they told the counselor. She called in DD and the boy, got the details, and called me, and also the boy's mother (who has to come to school to collect the money). Well, when I hung up the phone, I just burst out laughing. I was completely hysterical! I told DS what was happening, and he couldn't believe it--ran to check and make sure the PSP was still here (it was). So I told him, go get the 2 lifesize Zac Efron standups in DDs room and put them in my closet. When she got home, she tells me she needs to talk to me. She starts telling her story and I burst out laughing! I couldn't help myself! She tells the story, as if she is all innocent, and says SHE went to the counselor because she didnt' know what to do about the money. I prodded a bit, and asked if she was sure it was her idea, or was it maybe because someone else found out about the money and told the counselor and DD got called down to talk to her? She looked absolutely stricken, like HOW could I know?!?! She said "you got the phone call?" Yes I did my dear!!! I couldn't stop laughing! I told her to go look at her room. She came out asking where her cutouts were (she LOVES those things). DS told her he sold them to pay for a new PSP since she sold his for $100. At that point, I thought I was going to bust a gut laughing. (I am SUCH a bad Mommy!!) She ran in her room, threw herself on her bed, and sobbed. DS and I went and got the Zacs, and stood there laughing our heads off telling her to open her door. I said, "have you learned a lesson?" Yup, she sure did! And there will be no selling of her brother's possessions (or anything else!) at school. When she went to bed tonite, I said "please don't sell my laptop!":lmao:

To top it all off, I had ordered 3 pieces of wrought iron furniture for my family room/kitchen. The first one came last week, and when I opened it, the wood top was badly scratched, and 1/2 the hardware for assembly was missing. I called the company, and I'd already gotten the new wood top, but still no hardware. Today I decided to put the other 2 pieces together. guess what. BOTH pieces are missing 1/2 the hardware! I called the company, apologized in advance for the fact that I was mad as a hornet, and told my sad tale. The woman was very kind and helpful, agreed that this was totally unacceptable, and is shipping out new hardware immediately. In the meantime, I have the makings of 3 peices of furniture strewn across my family room!

THIS IS SOOOO NOT THE LIFE I SIGNED UP FOR!!!

I need a nap...

Hi Killers

I need a nap...

I didn't realize we signed up...just thought we were assigned. If I said what I was thinking, I would get sent to the principals office and you would be getting another call. :rotfl:
As a friend of mine likes to tell me---Take deep breaths.

Have a good nap. You deserve one.

Sorry still impressed, aside from that they are shoes I can't get on my 'recovering' broken feet. I do wonder will they every see the light of heels:confused3 .

OMG, and the Oscar goes too????????? That's enough drama, let alone in one day:eek: You are so right that his friends were 'good friends' even though it caused all this upset at least they cared enough to be concerned:thumbsup2.
Okay:rotfl2: about DD story, she's gooood, what in the world:confused3 , but hey it was her DB's not hers, guess she was just talking out loud when she made that offer. I think that was perfect 'punishment' you were not being mean, you took something that she 'cherisished' and did give it back. She had a little temporary lose to make her realize what she did. Believe me others would have suffered greater consequences without learning the lesson. You could have yelled and screamed given her 2 weeks grounding, and the screaming would have become blah, blah, blah, so it was quick and she got the point:thumbsup2. Enjoy your nap, you need one and maybe more.

Okay, so DS is on Easter break, but going to visit new school tomorrow, so have everything washed, ironed and need to go to sleep. Just as nervous for him, hope he likes it!!! Window guy coming again, to measure gave deposit today:banana:, One day I won't be cold:banana: !!!
Nite all, going try to get sleep, tell me why I had him go on the first day of Easter break????? What was I thinking?????

whgrn - I'm SOOOO sorry. Sometimes I feel like we need to go thru life muttering "No whammy, no whammy, no whammy..." under our breath.

At least everything turned out ok, and you were able to laugh about it.

I hope you enjoyed your nap and it was a good, long one too!

OK, here goes. How to create and use a Buddy List...

1) Click on anyone's name to the left of your screen while in the ThreadKillers thread. You will see a drop down menu.
2) Pick the Add to Buddy List option.
3) A screen will open up that says this:
"To remove a user from either the Buddy or Ignore Lists, un-tick the box next to their name and click the 'Save List' button.

To add a user to either list, enter their name in the empty boxes for that list and click 'Save List'. "
4) At the bottom of the screen, there will be an empty box. The persons user name that you originally clicked on should be in that box.
5) Click the "Save List" button.
6) Click in that open box again, and type in anyone else's user name that you would like to add to your buddy list.
7) Click the "Save List" button.
8) Repeat steps 6 and 7 until all the Killers (or whomever you would like) have been added to your buddy list.

You now have a buddy list.

To Use Your Buddy List:
Look uptop on the screen under where you log-in.
There is a menu called "Quick Links"
Click on Quick Links
You will get a dropdown menu
Click on "Open Buddy List"
A small window will pop up w/ the list of all your buddies.
There will be a list for "Online" where all of your buddies who are currently logged in will be listed w/ little green dots next to their name.
There will be a list for "Offline" where all of your buddies who are not logged in will be listed w/ little gray dots next to their name.

I used to scroll thru a few pages of the thread to see if anyone had those little green dots in their user name box to see if y'all were here. Now, I can just pop open my little window to see who is around.

Please post or PM me w/ any questions. I hope this is clear!

Oh goodness...whgrn...what an exciting and harrowing few days you've had. As in all things..this will be funny one day. I tell myself that all that time. But you should be proud of the friends your son has chosen, who erred on the side of safety and did the absolute right thing, howevermuch trouble that soon followed. And the DD! How funny is that--its just proof how quickly things can get out of control! I approve of your creative parenting--how better to learn the dos and don'ts of life than to get a dose of it yourself?

disney54us...good luck to your and your son re: schools. I hope you have good weather and an even better time. Its a really exciting time, but it also it the beginning of a huge stage in a young person's life. My niece and nephew are also heading off to school in the fall, but they're already chosen their school (they decided to go to the same school). I went there years and years ago, and while I'm so excited for them, I also am so scared for them to be college freshmen! I still have a few months with them still, and am looking forward to being with them.

Mom is returning from the Phils tonight, so brother and I am heading down to JFK after dinner. Dad is staying another month, so I won't have to drive down for a while. Looks like the rainy weather has truly passed, so I'm not too worried about the weather. Still a bit cold though!

Good day all...talk to you later.

Safe travels to your Mom (and to you and brother on the road.)

Also, I PM'd you with another shot at the banner. Let me know how it goes...

oh yeah! Third time's the charm! Thank you so so much, lighttech, for bringing about the return of my beloved TK banner! Again, I have no idea what happened with the other two, but I can see this one--can you?

Yes I can!!! Your banner is back!!!:cheer2:

Lighttech -Thanks for posting the buddy information. I'll try again. :thumbsup2

whgrn - Bad, Sad, Had...Whgrn is sad. Very very sad. She had a bad day. What a day Whgrn had. :sad2: (Just felt the need to quote Dr Seuss' Hop on Pop)

Magikitty - your banner is back! Yeah!:cheer2:

Today is the last day of school for us before spring break. We're not doing anything special for that or Easter. Just quiet family time.
But, to top it off, we're supposed to get more SNOWtonight. (4-8 inches:scared1:) Looks like its going to be a white Easter here. :headache: I want spring!!!!!

lighttech thanks for the buddy list info.:thumbsup2
whgrn:scared1: :faint: So glad everything turned out okay, nothing too serious. And no you are not a mean mommy. :thumbsup2

Oh, I'm so sorry. More snow! I'm so ready for spring myself. Although, I do feel bad for the kiddies around here. We didn't have one decent snow to play in. Anytime we had any accumulation, it was immediately followed by freezing rain that left it icy or gushy. DS kept asking all winter when he would get to play in the snow! But, at this point, I must say I personally am ok w/ waiting until next year. Thinking spring...:flower1:

Hi lighttech.....I was actually just folowing your directions to make the buddy list. I'm a little slow sometimes :lmao:

No worries... if I was trying to follow those directions, I'd probably have to print them out first... I had enough trouble writing them! :rotfl:
