I'm a VET! I would not be where I am today without my chatty Killer friends! :grouphug: Thank you very much!
Can't wait to hit submit reply...

Yahoo! Congrats on your 500 M&N!

Shmu...what a beautiful moment. Thank you for sharing.

Afternoon all...I have an exciting evening of laundry planned. I had my "old maid" cart at the grocers today: 60 lbs of kitty litter, 30 cans of cat food, pot roast, and sorbet. oh my. I'm even sad for myself.

Hey everyone!

Just got done finally cleaning up after watching the race. I was surprised that Ryan Newman won. I figured Tony Stewart would win since he raced good all weekend. I was rooting for Kyle Busch to win only because of the way he was treated by his former team. Oh well, there's always next year.

disney54us-I forgot to tell you, that valentine's party sounded like such a wonderful idea. I know at our elementary school, they take all the children over to the retirement home to visit on Halloween. It's always a big hit with everyone involved. We didn't do anything for Valentine's day since that was the day everyone got sick. But when DH came home from work, he did bring me candy....dark chocolate, my favorite  I can't remember the last time we went out that day, I usually just cook his favorite meal and just spend time relaxing.

Dark Chocolatem health food you know, low sugar and good for the heart!!

oh yeah, disney54us, you are exactly right about step brother. He is a complete sweetheart. I don't care what he looks like, he's great with my kids. He always says he's gonna take DD4 for her first piercing. :lmao:
:thumbsup2

Okay, how is this? Does this look bigger?

DSC00317-2.jpg

So much better, wow we can see you!!!

Morning dear friends! How is everyone this President's Day? Its gotten freakishly warm today--approaching 60! I feel like I should take advantage of the weather and do something productive.

D&D...I see you! And your lovely family. Much better. Yeah! You figured it out!

I caught a bit of the end of the race. There's still the M&M car. Its my favorite. I don't know who won, but congrats to him. Quite an accomplishment.

First piercing! So funny. She'd probably let him do it too. Just aim for the ears.

Scary scenario last night. School here is out for mid-winter break (something we never had in MY day btw). Nephew called late last night asking if he could stay over. Of course! Where was he? He was at a friend's house, he was SUPPOSED to stay over, but something happened....and now he was seeking shelter. Totally cool, he's always welcome, but I wondered what exactly he did to get un-invited to stay over. I asked if I should be worried, is the police involved at all. He said no, just that plans changed. Hmm...I'll let my brother handle it. But I'm glad that he thought to come to me.

On the upside, we got to talk. He may have a date for the prom. :scared1: He likes the girl. I can't beleive we're talking about prom. But I'm glad he feels he can share it with me. He said he would go to ComiCon in NYC in April. He's not embarrassed to hang out with me. I feel so loved.

ok, seriously need to get SOMETHING done. Talk to you later!

who cares about the rain open the windows yeah:banana: we have warm weather if only for a day:sad2:.
So nice you nephew can come to you:goodvibes. Maybe it was something he wasn't comfortable with and needed a out. One good thing about texting I always tell my DD and even DS you don't have to look like your calling home just text and I can be the evil mom that calls and makes you come home.

D&DDisney-great picture and it's the perfect size now. You guys look so great.

disney54us-don't even mention tattoos....I'm sure that will be next. :rotfl2:
Oops, so sorry, funny though, right???
morning everyone!

d&ddisney - sooooooooo much better!! it's perfect now! how funny you said, really is it small??! right, so who is everyone again. i'm guess you, your DH, mom and sons. what are their ages (the boys! not the adults. ha ha!)

oh man, is it only raining here on the island?? that's nice for all of you, but yuuuuuucky here. it is warm, but soaked.

ok enjoy the nice weather all!

Nah, rain, but the warm temps I'll take it!!!!

Good morning TKr's :flower3:

So glad that most of ya'll are getting some warm weather
Magsnden sorry that it comes along with a rain-yuck.
Our little weather situation over the weekend didn't form up for us the way the weathermen said, thank goodness.
It's been beautiful here and I sure hope some heads your way soon.

DreaminLove the piercing story. Too cute.
Your FSBro looks just like my DB Doug who passed away 6 years ago. He was my DD's favorite person too. She would meet him at the door and take him straight to the kitchen for chips and salsa. Funny huh. He got her her 1st roller skates-he skated everywhere. When he passed the only picture he carried was one of DD.
I got my last piercing 12 years ago and am about 10,000 sit-up away from getting it redone.:upsidedow

I've got the gardens being turned Tuesday so I have to go to the growers with DM today.:cloud9: :yay: I love buying plants!
Some girls like shoes and clothes, not me.

I have herbs popping up everywhere:yay: so I'd better get some plants in before they take all the space. I can't bear to pull out volunteer plants
I've got Basil, Cilantro popping up all over.
(Cilantro seeds are the spice Coriander or Cilantro is the steams and leaves of the Coriander plant [chicken/egg])

PM me an address and I'll send ya'll some seeds(Basil/Cilantro) I harvested last fall. I'm getting ready to trim out my Bay Tree if anyone wants bay leaves too.
(I grow organic-no pesticides:hippie: )

Check back later.

Let me know.
Glad you made it through, what was predicted to be bad for you guys. Such a sweet story about your DB:lovestruc, and sorry about his passing:hug:. How cute about the skates, you have to love those 'skater boys':goodvibes.
If your talking about sit ups GF you had your belly pierced, good for you if you can wear it go for it!!! How exciting about your garden, wish it was that time here. I love gardening, flowers evergreens, my Hydranga's just love the blooming season!! Usually grow herbs in pot's and tomato plants. I would like to expand this year w/ a few more veggies. I love Cilantro and always grow basil. I have to find this recipe I have for Cilantro salsa it really isn't a salsa as we would think. It is more of a dipping oil w/spanish onions season's and lots of fresh cilantro. Served w/hot loaf of bread very good!

hey!

we were quiet last night, huh?
it's a little too early still for me to be chatty, so i'll stop in in a little while. need a tiny bit more coffee!:surfweb:

Thank goodness or I would never catch up!!!

Good morning.:hippie:
Love all the new pics posted.
Great stories about kids.
Nothing special going on here.
Just trying to catch up on work.
My tulips are starting to break through the ground.
Spring is around the corner.

Hi shmu, Tulips, breaking through your killing me!!! Snowflakes tonight.

Evening TKers!!! Been a busy day here....DD12's (I guess I can say that now) birthday is tomorrow. We had to celebrate tonight because DH has to work 3 hours away tomorrow and we are not sure what time he will get home. We got her a digital camera in pink of course. Now she can finally stop borrowing mine. :lmao:

magsnden-nope, never liked watermelon. I know it's odd but what can I say, I'm an odd person. And I'm the only one if my family who doesn't like it either.

M&N-:woohoo: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Boy, I better get on the ball here or I might end up a mousketeer forever. :rotfl2:

Bopsmom-Congrats to DD. You must be really proud. I'll pm you my address too. The girls are always asking to try and grow something but I always put them off because I am so bad at it. Are they fairly easy to grow? I hope we can do it. :goodvibes

WOOOO HOOOO!!! You go girl! I'll get there....someday!

Afternoon all...I have an exciting evening of laundry planned. I had my "old maid" cart at the grocers today: 60 lbs of kitty litter, 30 cans of cat food, pot roast, and sorbet. oh my. I'm even sad for myself.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: What a scenario! "Old Maid cart"--I LOVE it!:lmao: Don't be sad. At least you don't have to deal with the hassles of a DH and kids! Not that there aren't major benefits to both, but doing the solo thing definitely has its merits!

I just have a minute... used up my time allotment catching up. I still haven't read everything, but I skimmed enough to know what's happening.

Anyone going to the world in March thru May? Visa just posted deals. They are also listed in the announcement section of the boards up top.

Sorry to make anyone nervous!!! My face is fine. A little scratched and sore, but recovering nicely. For whomever asked, its not that my job is dangerous, persay, but whenever you work w/ equipment and lifting and ladders, you have to be careful. Sometimes someone doesn't pay attention and somebody else pays the price. But, its an easy mistake, and I'm sure we've all given each other some bumps and bruises here or there.

DS is on my lap and just noticed the smilies. He's going to put a few in.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:  :happytv: :surfweb:

Well, good morning from me AND DS.

Have a good day TK'ers.

Glad to hear your okay and hears a few for your DS:).

OH. Bopsmom... I'll PM you as soon as I get a chance. DS and DH started gardening last summer (I've always enjoyed it, but I try to leave the herbs to them, it was a great father/son activity), and they really enjoy it. I'd love some seeds. Thank you!

And, good for you w/ the all organic. I try to do the same. I refuse to use any chemical pesticides or herbicides. And, I'm in love w/ vinegar as a weedkiller on my walk. Gets the little ones between the bricks, and makes my walk smell like a salad! :rotfl:

Vinegar, got buy it by the gallon!! It does work as a weed killer, it also is recommended as a floor cleaner on tile and wood floors!!! I don't do the chemical lawn thing. Even b/f kids we had a dog and I didn't want him to be out on all those chemicals. There's a great Co. I get there catalog I can't think of the name right now, but when I do I'll post it. works great you can have beautiful grass without worrying about your kids or pets playing on it.

I caught up last night but too tired to post. Lots always happens over the weekend. It's great we're getting Dis vets here. I looked at post counts and several of us are getting closer to that 500th post. I'm making my speech already to make sure I thank all the TK's. Actually, I looked and I've only killed 4 threads this month so far! :woohoo:

Lighttech--glad you're ok. Please thank DS for all those smilies. Tell him it made my day.

I know we've talked about being positive in the past so I want to share some things from my WW meeting last night. It was called Do you have ANT problems? It was about Automatic Negative Thoughts. We always have thoughts about our behavior and what we think leads to what we do. We think, feel and then do. So we need to stop our negative thoughts. We only got 5 of the 10 steps but I'll share what I have. 1). We need to acknowledge and appreciate the positive past. 2). We should use positive self talk...I can messages. 3). We should acknowledge and build on strengths. 4). We should clarify our vision and purpose. 5). We should set measurable goals and objectives. They should be small and about behavior. I know it may not seem like much but the discussion really helped me with my thoughts about my weight but other things too. Just wanted to add that you all are so positive toward all of us and our situations. I know MaggiKitty started us off with a cute title and theme but it's developed into a very positive, caring group.

I'll get off my soapbox...pixiedust: pixiedust:

Did someone say tulips coming up? They're still using the s word here.

No soapbox, good for you!!!!:goodvibes and glad you shared!!:thumbsup2

oh, Bopsmom, I've sent you a PM. As I said, I've not much luck in the gardening department, but I always try! The only reason I have perennials is because I enlisted the help of a dirt-loving nephew who dug up my yard in order to plant. I would love to try so plant fresh herbs. They always say on the cooking shows to use fresh stuff. I could use all the cooking help I can get!

M&N...thank you so much for sharing those words with us! Its all so true! Especially for those of us that are women (where is Blamemysister lately???), we just go into that self-deprecating mode and don't think about how lucky/blessed/wonderful we are every day. I've tried to be positive for Lent...its been difficult but also wildly satisfying. And with spring coming (:rotfl2: :rotfl2: ) its just makes is so much better to face each day with a positive smiling soul.

glad to hear you're ok Lighttech! And hello to you too, little Lighttech!

I got that Disney Visa offer too! I just got my card a few months ago, and I'm waiting (hoping) for offers for this fall. Even without free dining (but we're still hoping), I think BF and I would like to try to attend F&W at EPCOT this year. Sounds something right up our alley, although not friendly to the waistline. Thing is, I love to torture BF with new ethnic foods that he wouldn't otherwise try. I don't get how he can love a pizza so much.

Still stepping along. Just been trying to get on it as often as possible in small increments, just trying to increase the number to steps every time. The novelty has run out for my kitties. They don't even pay attention to me anymore when I do it.

Happy day and hopefully approaching spring-like weather to everyone!

F&W we always wanted to go, even thought of it quick long week end w/o kids. You should see there faces when we mentioned it. Have been there when it was going on but DM, DN DD and I were at Super Soap weekend and DH and DD did there thing.

Oh my gosh!!! All I can say is  they are beautiful!!!!

That's the best way to eat watermelon...bite it and spit the seeds!
I'm ready for some. I almost got blown over during walk...and that takes a strong gust. :rotfl:

:scared1: be careful, walking is supposed to be good for your health:confused3 !

Bopsmom, I'll PM you too! Of course, I'll probably kill the plants (black thumbs, you know...) but I'm determined to grow tomatoes this summer, even if it kills me, which it might!:rotfl: So some fresh herbs would go very nicely with that.

lighttech, does the vinegar between the bricks really work?!? I've never heard that before. I'd MUCH rather use vinegar than Roundup! Ecofriendlier and MUCH cheaper too!

I hear you M&N--I was nearly blown away this morning walking into the grocery store! And that takes a real GALE!!!:lmao:

Later killers...

Actually, it does work. Buy a spray bottle and mix vinegar and water and spray away, those weed will be brown by sundown:thumbsup2.

Ooooh...I so envy those of you who are experiencing spring weather. Can't wait for that here. The winter from h*** continues. The pattern seems to be snow...thaw/rain...frigid temps...more snow.
It is Wisconsin's turn at the voting booth today. Oh the agony!

I knew there was a reason I like everyone here. So much in common. I am also into gardening. Love to grow tomatoes, cukes, beans, and peas. Also love flowers. I am also one of those women who would rather spend money on plants than on jewelry. I go crazy in April and May during planting season. Never tried herbs before. Might be interested in cilantro to make homemade salsa.
lighttech - I Would also like to hear more about vinager for weeds.

Magsnden - Love the watermelon pics. Forgive me if I missed it, but did you grow those?

M&N - Thanks for sharing the positive booster. I've been reading a lot of books about appreciating life (90 Min in Heaven) and finding out your purpose (Eat, Pray, Love). Maybe I need to go to WW meetings too.

I think we should all plan to get together some day and meet in person. Maybe a girls vacation to WDW??? Girls retreat of self inlightenment????
Think about it?

Don't worry we only got one day w/warm weather but I'm sure at this point you would take it! One day who knows? There are threads on here that they have gotten together after talking so long and done a trip or a meet.

D&D...I just read Eat, Pray, Love too!
We should get together! And wear matching shirts with "thread killer" on them...that'll definitely get us attention.

Sounds, like a interesting book, need to check it out next time I'm at B&N.
What cool T-shirts they would be:cool1:.

Lighttech.... Did I miss the show??? when are they doing cool garden stuff???

Evening TKers!!! Been a busy day here....DD12's (I guess I can say that now) birthday is tomorrow. Happy Birthday to DD:dance3:, cool a pink digital, I want one!!!

disney54us-there you are. :wave2: Did you get all your packages mailed out?

I am finally here and yes all the packages are shipped and in the hands of good old UPS. Wew, it's been alot of running and emailing back and forth to DN's GF who is throwing her the shower. My DN is very lucky to have such a good GF. If I new how:confused3 I would post the picture of the 'diaper cake she made for her, and the real cake that DN's, GF's mom is making. For that matter I took a picture of the basket w/all the candles wrapped in tulle and ribbon and I would post that too but heck we know I can't do that:sad2: .
So glad I'm caught up, will check back DN just called need to call her back. So not too chatty, or I'll be post and post behind:scared1:.

If your talking about sit ups GF you had your belly pierced, good for you if you can wear it go for it!!!
Thanks: we got through the bad weather but still are wet. I think I ran us out of hot water tonight getting warm. It's not that warm yet!.

Yes, I got my navel pierced age 33 I had a good run;) (had DD at 34) hmmmmm, I guess DH like it :rotfl:

I love Hydrangeas, they are beautiful! We can't grow them here-there is only one species that grows here but it is not a pretty as the kinds ya'll get.
Yummm, I want that recipe!!! Sounds Great.
I will send along my Gazapacho to you for the summer! I make a great salsa with peaches and cilantro- yummm. We grow peppers too.

]M&N[/B]-:woohoo: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
good for you. I might be a vet too someday.
Bopsmom-Congrats to DD. You must be really proud. I'll pm you my address too. The girls are always asking to try and grow something but I always put them off because I am so bad at it. Are they fairly easy to grow? I hope we can do it. :goodvibes
Thank you-you know I'm proud of her. She is a great kid!:thumbsup2

Yahoo! Afternoon all...I have an exciting evening of laundry planned. I had my "old maid" cart at the grocers today: 60 lbs of kitty litter, 30 cans of cat food, pot roast, and sorbet. oh my. I'm even sad for myself.

I am doing :laundy: too. Most of mine is muddy!:rolleyes1
BTW-it's not an "old Maid cart" It' a "living life and lovin' it" cart!:thumbsup2

I hope I have quoted eveyone-I tried!

lighttech= I hope you are feeling better.

:rotfl2: I guess he did like it!!! Mmm recipe sounds good. I am going to pm you to I'm not sure I'm good w/seeds:confused3, plants, trees all that stuff but seeds (I hope they grow). I've always stayed away from them since, if you start them inside I would read keep in a dark cool place etc Well I have a basement now so I'll figure it out. Just love having fresh herbs to cook with and make salads. Basil which grows like crazy, I love it drives me nuts to have to buy wilted looking basil and pay almost 4.00 for a little bunch at the store. I'm thinking peppers, cucumbers and a few varieties of tomatoes to start. We bought a plum tree last year, hoping it will bare us some fruit this year:banana:.
We were able to see the Lunear Eclispe last night!!! Didn't think we would be able to see it, but my neighbor knocked on the door last night to tell us you could see it from the side. DS was in bed he was thrilled to be able to see it.

hi! i really missed out on a LOT!
so i'll try to cover what i can.

magikitty - pot roast sounds delicious! yummy! also, about the old maid cart - this will make you laugh - DH's roommate (a guy) after college used to use one! we used to laugh at him because in the city, the only people who used them were elderly women. i would say to him, "oh that's the same model that my grandma uses. how do you like it?" so, really, do NOT feel bad about it!

bopsmom - so happy for your DD!! party:

how proud you all must be of her! a nice little bonus that her crush wants to work together next year. love is in the air!!

disney54us - what a great idea about having your kids text you! their friends won't know they're texting you, so then they won't be embarassed to say they want to come home or whatever. perfect! how old are they?

shmu - my tulips are poking through too. but they probably won't last. we had some pretty warm weather before Christmas and they started coming up, but now it is freeeeeeezing! too cold.

ok i can't catch up on everything, but great to find out about the vinegar! great tip! and also would love to hear about the grass stuff that's safe for the kids.

i'm pm-ing you now bopsmom! and how sweet of you, and you DD to want to do something for the kids! you really have a great kid over there!

 Magsden wow, 5 more post to go:dance3: !!!
okay need to go back and reread, bopsmom, must have missed what your DD accomplished I assume it has to do with the Science Fair. Congrat's to her and I will check back about it.

M&N party:

Bopsmom Congrats to your DD :dance3:

dreamin in pa :bday: to your DD

magsnden you're almost to 500! :cheer2:

Magsnden: :surfweb: I've been lurking...waiting to do my 501 to say YEAH! to you. Welcome to the Vets club.
:rockband: party: :jumping1: :dance3:
You'll have to show DS all your smilies.

Drumroll please...Check my post number...it was just 499 so this should be it!

I'm a VET! I would not be where I am today without my chatty Killer friends! :grouphug: Thank you very much!
Can't wait to hit submit reply...

WOO HOO!!! :cool1:

Afternoon all...I have an exciting evening of laundry planned. I had my "old maid" cart at the grocers today: 60 lbs of kitty litter, 30 cans of cat food, pot roast, and sorbet. oh my. I'm even sad for myself.

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl:
Actually, doesn't sound so bad. Better than the huge cart piled high w/ my enormous bottles of giant mayo, ketchup and ridiculously large boxes of diapers I wind up w/ at Sams club. No one really needs groceries that large.

Hey TK'rs

Don't worry ya'll I think I have enough Basil and Cilantro for everyone. Send me all your addresses, and I will also work up a surprise for you.:) DD wants to make a present for the kiddie gardeners in your families. (offer ends on 2/22/08)
FYI, we will be in our second growing season in May when ya'll are starting to plant for summer and I will have even more seeds for you guys.

I am so happy to share:yay: It's nice to know that seeds from plants I grow down here will have a home with my friends.

I have donated many plants to the New Orleans Audubon Park and Botanic Gardens when they lost almost everything in Katrina. I even went to visit some of them :)
I grow experimental for the county and for a friend that is a grower for the area.

Newsflash, DD got 2nd place in Science Fair:woohoo: go girls-(her crush got first but he said he was "gunning for her" and did a really good project comparing detergents). She still represents our school in county and that is great!-go girls!!!:yay: :yay:
The boy that won first asked if maybe next year, since they both like enviromental studies, they should work together. :rolleyes1 score on all sides! I told her boys like smart girls!!!!
More later,
Gotta get a bath!:)

Thanks for the seed offer!
Wow! Thanks for doing all that great stuff for the people and the earth too!
And, Congrats to DD and Happy Birthday. Yup! Boys DO like smart girls. Hooray for a little encouragement coming her way in that dept.

Lighttech.... Did I miss the show??? when are they doing cool garden stuff???
.

Only some of it. Its on right now. Then, there's more gardening stuff from 5pm to 10pm EST. I must admit I bought a few things myself.

ok here it is!!!!

Ta Da!!

i did it!!!!! Yay!

:woohoo: :cool1: :cool1: :dance3: :cool1: :cool1: :woohoo:

HOORAY FOR YOU!!! :woohoo:

Wanted to do this in a separate post so it wouldn't get lost.

Here's some info on the gardening stuff that everyone's been asking about. I won't get on my soapbox, but its something I'm very passionate about, so I'm glad you all are asking!!! I'm very concerned about the impact all these pesticides and such are having on our planet. Also, DM is a breast cancer survivor and my Aunt passed away from ovarian cancer (several years ago) and both were told that exposure to pesticides and herbicides were quite possibly a contributing factor to their cancers. (Not trying to be a downer, but its why I take it so seriously, and I want you all to stay healthy!!!)

OK, so first, check out the website.
http://www.saferbrand.com/

They sell several varieties of all natural and pesticide free gardening aids. Also bug sprays, lawn stuff, etc. They are great about replying to questions via email, and most of their stuff is not harmful to kids or pets or the environment. (Although, as w/ any weed/pest control natural or otherwise, you still don't want the kiddies playing with it.) But, some of their pest stuff is menthol based, so they say, even if your pets catch or eat a bug that was sprayed w/ it, the worst that will happen is that they will have minty fresh breath.

I have ordered some stuff, but haven't tried it yet. It was recommended to me by one of our vendors here at work that grows and sells plants.

And, in this link, someone tried the vinegar and posted their before and afters. Pretty cool.

http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/organic/msg0613592720186.html

I've had great luck w/ the regular store brand vinegar too. Just make sure you spray it on a dry day so that the vinegar has time to do its job before it rains. I found that after the morning dew has dried works best so the vinegar doesn't get watered down.

Good luck and happy gardening!
