WOO HOO!!! :cool1:

Only some of it. Its on right now. Then, there's more gardening stuff from 5pm to 10pm EST. I must admit I bought a few things myself.

HOORAY FOR YOU!!! :woohoo:

Shoot I probably missed it:scared1:, I'm going to check it out. Have to figure what channel on Direct TV. Saferbrand, some good stuff!!! have to find that catalog. Vingear, so many uses and if you buy the store brand by the gallon cheap, cheap, cheap!!!!

Hey everyone! So chatty today, so glad to see everyone.

Such good news all around! 500 posts, fantastic showing the science fair, good texting kids, happy birthdays (BTW, I just got a pink digital camera too!). So good to hear that girls rock! You all are doing such wonderful jobs raising amazing kids. :thumbsup2

Thanks in advance for the seeds and lovely gifts from daughter. What sweethearts I've met here.

Thanks for the pot roast support. It went rather well, my first try. I am presently going crazy looking for my SD card for my camera, its here somewhere.

Lazy bug bit me last night and I didn't finish the laundry. We have a date to meet again later.

Brr! So cold, no signs of spring here. Forecast is scaring me! :scared1: :scared1: Calling for snow again. I just watch the NYC news and add about 4 inches to their snow predictions, and subtract about 10 degrees from their temperatures. I live in the tundra zone. Imagining warmth through navel oranges.

Parents are making the great escape and heading over to the Phils next weekend. Busily trying to get everything prepared for them. Cousin had a baby girl a few days ago--2 months premature. She's got a long road ahead of her, but she's breathing on her own already--she's a fighter! So proud of her already.

Me again...how is this for serendipidity? Was at Borders today trying to choose between getting the complete works of Jane Austen versus Becoming Jane Austen (her biography). Couldn't justify spending $40 on books for myself...was wishing I had a coupon or something when DING! My text goes off and its BORDERS sending me a text coupon for 30% any book of my choice! Needless to say, I got both books (further adding to the old maid theory of multiple cats with pot roast leftovers). Life is so mysterious and wonderful!

It's keeping the thread running, usually keeping it up near the top of the list. It just takes a reply of at least a letter, but more commonly "bump".

Wanted to do this in a separate post so it wouldn't get lost.

Here's some info on the gardening stuff that everyone's been asking about. I won't get on my soapbox, but its something I'm very passionate about, so I'm glad you all are asking!!! I'm very concerned about the impact all these pesticides and such are having on our planet. Also, DM is a breast cancer survivor and my Aunt passed away from ovarian cancer (several years ago) and both were told that exposure to pesticides and herbicides were quite possibly a contributing factor to their cancers. (Not trying to be a downer, but its why I take it so seriously, and I want you all to stay healthy!!!)

OK, so first, check out the website.
http://www.saferbrand.com/

They sell several varieties of all natural and pesticide free gardening aids. Also bug sprays, lawn stuff, etc. They are great about replying to questions via email, and most of their stuff is not harmful to kids or pets or the environment. (Although, as w/ any weed/pest control natural or otherwise, you still don't want the kiddies playing with it.) But, some of their pest stuff is menthol based, so they say, even if your pets catch or eat a bug that was sprayed w/ it, the worst that will happen is that they will have minty fresh breath.

I have ordered some stuff, but haven't tried it yet. It was recommended to me by one of our vendors here at work that grows and sells plants.

And, in this link, someone tried the vinegar and posted their before and afters. Pretty cool.

http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/organic/msg0613592720186.html

I've had great luck w/ the regular store brand vinegar too. Just make sure you spray it on a dry day so that the vinegar has time to do its job before it rains. I found that after the morning dew has dried works best so the vinegar doesn't get watered down.

Good luck and happy gardening!

Well I guess I'll be buying vinegar by the gallon this summer!!! Thanks for the tips!

Cousin had a baby girl a few days ago--2 months premature. She's got a long road ahead of her, but she's breathing on her own already--she's a fighter! So proud of her already.

Both my kids were 2 months early. They are both SOOOOOOO healthy it isn't funny! Never sick--DS had perfect attendance for 5 years in a row! Yes, he's tiny (11 yo, 53 pounds, 53 inches), and he has some serious ADHD, but I also attribute that to early deprivation/orphanage issues. Same goes for DD and her neuro issues. I know too many kids with their backgrounds who were NOT preemies who have the same problems, to think that the prematurity is the cause.

I am so impressed with all of you and your 500+ posts! Guess I'd better get on the stick and post more often! I have to keep up with the Killers!!:lmao:

...Needless to say, I got both books (further adding to the old maid theory of multiple cats with pot roast leftovers). Life is so mysterious and wonderful!

Can't let you get by with old maid attitude...I'm an old maid librarian so I can say this. Remember--positive attitudes...you are giving your cats more TLC than lots of parents give their kids. (Killers not included in this generalization ;) ) You are into great literature---growing minds---and sharing your knowledge with others. Plus, what's not to love about pot roast leftovers?

Well I guess I'll be buying vinegar by the gallon this summer!!! Thanks for the tips!

Do you think anyone will wonder why the run on gallons of vinegar? :rotfl:
Do little posts instead of long ones! Actually, you have a lot looking at your starting date.

Terrible weather tomorrow...snow then sleet/freezing rain and then maybe snow again. :cold: I got my walk in today by sweeping the coating of snow we got off my walk and the neighbors walk. It would have melted by itself but I got the arms involved too.
Night...

Hey TKers! Getting ready for the "snowstorm" here. And of course they are prdicting more ice. As much as I dislike snow, it would be nice to have at least one real snowstorm for the kids to play in. So far, we've had more ice storms than anything. pixiedust: Here's hoping there's no school tomorrow. Had to make the costomary run to the grocery store. And I didn't even buy milk, bread and eggs. :rotfl: Decided at the last minute tonight to make some stuffed peppers tomorrow. Something nice and warm while the weather is suppose to be horrible.

MagiKitty-saying a prayer for you cousin's baby. She sure does sound like a fighter already. A text message coupon while you are in the store. I would love something like that with all the reading i do. And I would have bought both books and maybe gone back for a couple more. :rotfl:

Gotta run....SIL is on the phone with some hairbrained idea about being a model now. :sad2: :rolleyes2 I'll fill you all in later.

Good Morning Killers!!! Snow Day:dance3: :yay: , well sort of! DD's school is closed as is all the catholic schools in the area, most of the public too. DS's school didn't call it:confused3. Usually how it works is we are closed if the public schools in the town are closed but they can call it independently. They didn't and it is still coming down. It's more about later when it's suppose to turn to freezing rain. The town I live in didn't call a snow day either:confused3. I feel bad b/c we have tons of kids that walk quite a bit to the HS. The plow has been down my block twice and the road is still white. Of course snow days are meant to sleep in and here I am up since 6:00, today was 'Donuts with Dad' at DS's school and I was suppose to help the mom running it, so I was up making calls to see what was going on. We chose to call our own snow day. Glad to report that DD's schools new Honeywell message alert was put to use for the first time today and as my house ph rang so did cell with the message that school was closed.
Magikitty, I'm sure your cousin's baby will be fine, how nice your parents are going out there to help.

Well guess I'll be putting that coco/latte machine to work today:thumbsup2
later!!!!

Happy snow day---I can say happy because I don't have to go out in it. It sounded like they are not calling for as much ice as they had yesterday. I hope not. It looked like all our schools were closed. I think they try and keep some preschoolsw open for working parents but saw some listed. I'm trying to decide when to shovel---before or after sleet? It'll be heavier if I wait but it'll be hard to get the sleet/freezing rain up if it freezes??? :confused3 The people across the street always get it off early. I'll give it a little bit yet...now that sounds a little bit PA Dutchish. Later Killers.

Just saying hi.:hippie:
Wet and rainy here.
No ice or snow.
Just cold and wet.
We do need the rain though. Remember, GA is still in a drought.
Dreaming of WDW today. Wish I was there.
Well, life is calling once again. Must get back to work.

morning killers!

well we FINALLY got some serious snow! at least 6 inches and it's still coming down hard. YAY! DD is out there now for a few minutes (poor DS is very sad he's not) since they said it's going to be rain later. boo hoo!

hope you're all well. can't really stay on as DH is working from home today.

magikitty, i just saw you'll be getting 6-10 so stay warm and inside!!

prayers going out to your cousin and her family, 2 months early is a big deal. let us know how she's doing.

sorry, i didn't read everything - i will later!

Thanks slruud for bumping this thread.
MagiKitty Hoping your cousin's baby gets stronger faster.

I hope everyone enjoys their snow days. Sunny and dry here (again) :cool2:

Big great snowy hugs everyone! This storm is turning out to be a bit nastier than earlier thought. I've been watching to the morning predictions and it went from 4-6 inches to 10-12 (as of now anyway). Still snowing steadily and heavily, and supposed to turn to ice later on. Oh goodness!

M&N...you're so right! I'll switch from "old maid" to "woman of leisure". I am so blessed to have so much in my life at this time, even if its rather unorthodox amongst certain persons. And yes, I do love great literature, books in general actually. Borders truly is a paradise and a trap for me. So many books out there! I'm trying to figure out which Austen book to read first. Shovel later!

whgrn...thanks for the notes on your own children. So good to hear that they are super healthy despite their shaky beginnings. Keep posting and soon you'll be at 500!

Thank you all for ther reassurance about the new baby. She's now named Danielle. I appreciate all the well wishes and prayers.

dreamin...yum. Stuffed peppers. Perfect for this kind of weather. Keep us updated on the SIL. She's fascinating.

disney54us...strange the way some schools close and other do not! Keep warm and get your DS home safely. Enjoy that cocoa for all of us!

:flower3: Hi Shmu! Hope you get some precipitation soon to help with that drought. Would send the excess stuff we had here, but I'd never wish that on anyone.

magsnden...so you're got the good white stuff? Sorry to hear your little guy can't go out with his sister. Remember to take pictures! Even with the freezing temperatures, they look so happy playing out there. Oh, hubby's home today? Full house! Enjoy it!

slrudd...welcome and thank you for finding us! I appreciate the sentiment and advice. Perhaps you can join in with us some more.

Everyone keep safe and warm today! TTYL!

So much to comment on, and so little time left on my lunch break!!!

Magikitty - You tell Danielle to keep on being a little scrapper. Prayers her way, and I'm glad to hear she's doing well so far.

As for the weather, we got a few inches overnight, but now its turning into sleet and freezing rain. I'm bummed for DS, if we were going to get the darned white stuff, I was hoping it would stick around w/o ice long enough for him to play in it. He's been asking all year.

Glad for all who are enjoying the snow day!! Wish I was, but retail tv never takes a day off. (well, except Christmas. :santa: )

Oh, and for those who wanted me to update, I think there is a Disney Jewelry show on sometime monday morning. 9-ish? :tinker:

For the gardeners - Glad you all found the info beneficial. Do I need to stock up on vinegar now so you don't all buy it out from under me? :rotfl:

Hello Snowy TKs,

Glad to hear you are happy about getting snow. I can honestly say better there than here. It's actually around freezing for the first time in weeks.

I love the vinegar idea. I will keep that in mind for this summer's planing.

We've started planning a possible summer driving vacation to Denver with my BIL and his family. We hope to camp in the state parks there. Anyone ever been to Denver? Any suggestions of things to check out?

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I have been having extended family problems lately. Ever since my dad died, my sister has become . She's become super competative, gets mad at my brother and I if we do something w/ my mom that she doesn't get to, got my mom to make her power of attorney w/o consenting my brother and I, has cussed us out in front of our children, and then brags about how much moreshe does for mom than anyone else. It's so :sad1: to see your family fall apart after a tragedy. And, right now, there is noooooo talking to her w/o an all out war.:sad2: Believe it or not, I have not been my sarcastic self and instead have tried to take the high road. I need some positive affirmations or prayers on this one.

Hello Snowy TKs,

SOOO sorry to hear about this D&D. It's really sad when something like this happens. And you are NOT a "Debbie Downer"!!

Now, what to do.. First of all, is your sister a good choice for the POA for Mom? Will she be fair? Is it in your mom's best interests? If not, you and your brother need to sit down with mom and talk to her. Explain that you don't care who has POA, as long as it is someone with her best interests as priority one. It is not that hard to change a POA--my sister just did it. If, on the other hand, your wacky sister will be a safe choice, even if you don't like it, then leave it be--for now. Meanwhile, keep doing what you're doing, and we can hope and pray things get better for you!!!

We have a snow day here too. The kids have been out 3 times already. Now it's starting to rain, and hopefully all that nasty white stuff will go away while it's still pretty and white. I HATE when it gets all grey and brown along the side of the road. YUCK!!!! I'm just glad I don't have to go anywhere. I cancelled my 11:00am PT because it was still snowing, and I was NOT driving in that with one hand!:scared1:

D&DDisney---We all know the d's are not for Debbie Downer. ;) I'm proud of you for taking the high road. We certainly know that's not easy for any of us. ;) Not to play Dr. Phil, but it sounds like your sister has major problems. You are not going to solve them. I agree about you and your brother talking to Mom...maybe suggest that your brother should be POA with your sister if it would cause more problems with sis to be replaced. I think this is allowable??? Maybe use the old male superiority where business is concerned theme---no flames please, just trying to think of what an older woman would listen too. It worked for a friend of mine. Her parents listened to her husband over her but he had a business degree. Or say it's just a good idea to have 2 looking out for her. Do you have any aunts or uncles who could talk to mom about it? It's hard when we have to start looking after our parents.
I'm an only child so I've told Mom that she won't have anyone fighting over her as she gets older.
We are here to listen...:grouphug:
