Hello dear friends both old and new! Suffered through the snow storm on Thrusday--we got about nine inches of the white stuff. Managed to get out on the road about 8:30am and it was already near white-out! Nice and slow, taking my time and we made it no problem. Got to the mall, and it was deserted! All the mall workers were hoping that they would be sent home early, but they weren't....searched all over for a dress and thought I had found one at JcPenney's, right color, wrong style.

Thanks you everyone for the dress support and ideas. I have looked at Chadwick's, and I have ordered from them before, but the thing is, as part of the wedding party, its colored themed. Most of the dresses I've found have been black or red, and I'm looking for maroon or plum. If we don't get hit too hard this weekedn (another foot of snow???), perhaps I can sneak back to the mall sometime this week coming.

I had to giggle about the children and Christmas...I remember those days of being threatened with a black Christmas all too well! One year, we woke up and there really weren't presents under the tree! There was only one present to be found--and it was for the dog! The presents came out later, after much pouting and promising to be good, but I'll never forget that feeling! And just because we opened our presents didn't mean they were ours--they could be taken back if we acted up!

Oooh...chocolate. I love me some Ferrero Rocher. Crunchy, creamy and chocolate. Or a Cadbury bar. Salivating just thinking about it.

I have a question about ADR's--say you're travelling to the World for a week--I know you can make ressies 180 days out, so does one call everyday at 180 mark? Or do you wait and make reservations all at once at say 170 days out?

:welcome: Dunbarfamily. Glad to have you aboard. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Stay warm, dry, and safe everyone. Try to remember the reason for the season.

MagiKitty- if I understand correctly about the ADRs, you can call on the 180 day mark of the first day of your reservation. And then they will let you make ADRs for up to 10 consecutive days after that. There may certain restaurants excluded (I think I read that somewhere on here...maybe CRT?). So if your vacation starts on a Monday, you call 180 days from then and you can make your ADRs for the rest of the week.

party:party:I called and got all the ADR's I needed even a Princess Lunch at Akerhouse for DN. party: party:
We did a breakfast there for DD years ago and she loved it. Since we are going at a very crowded time I didn't want to waste a morning (when it's cooler and less crowded in the parks) sitting at a table.
While we are accustomed to the heat and humidity, the BIL and family are from OH and are not. My DSIL will freckle while you're watching her:rotfl:
I have midday breaks scheduled for us everyday(mad dogs and Englishmen....ya know) and this fits in perfectly.

Congrats, what a great Aunt, question?? Akerhouse, where is it?

Tomorrow night I have our annual Girls' Christmas Party--gotta make my crab dip and remember my tacky gift (a tradition!). We're all sure to laugh our butts off--too bad that isn't physically true!

My kids gave me such a hard time tonite I really screamed at them. So they have decided to leave home. But not until Saturday. I didn't tell them we are getting another storm on Saturday, but I did offer to let them live in the shed.:lmao: Little ingrates! If I was REALLY mean, I'd hold back all their Christmas presents. I've got half a mind to do just that, and give them to them later in the day, when my parents are here. Or would that be just too mean??? I honestly don't know what to do with them these days.

Well off to get a few things done so I can turn in early. I'm BEAT!!

Good for you and a girls night out, sounds like you need it!:goodvibes hang in there:grouphug:.

I feel your pain. I have 4 of my own and at this point, I am ready to cancel Christmas all together for them. When people ask me why my hair is grey, I point to each of the kids. It's mostly the oldest who gives us the most problems. We are past the point of normal punishments and onto the innovative type now. Hopefully one day, he wil learn. And since there was no school today, it's twice as bad.

I haven't been on for a couple of days and boy do I have alot of reading to catch up on. But quickly from what I have been able to read so far:

Bopsmom-Congrats on getting the ressie. I keep debating if I should try to one on our next trip in November. Hope they love it.

DL55-We are making all our cookies this weekend. With three girls who love nothing more than baking cookies, it's easier to do it all in one day. Maybe this year the kitchen won't end up a disaster area.

MagiKitty-Love the pictures of the Gingerbread House. That is definately on our to-do list for next year. DD11 eyes just popped when I told her that they give out samples. Did you happen to notice how much it was to have one sent to your house? I just know she's going to want one.

Hope everyone who got hit with this latest storm is safe and sound. Get ready for the next one.

Sounds like you need a :grouphug:, wow 4 kids you do have your hands full, thanks for the good wishes about DS, at least it's this week instead of last year the last day of school, came home went right to bed. Good thing, the Ped's have Sat. morning hrs for sick calls, though I new it was a Sinus infection, (he's prone to them) and was burning up. it was after Friday hrs. and they wanted to see him in AM. At least we still had a couple of days till Christmas.

Good Morning TK. I am sitting here this morning waiting for the contractors to come back. We are having the rest of the sheet rock put up in our basement. They worked all day yesterday. If you want to see pictures of before just click below in my signature and read my latest post. I'll have a lot of painting to do when they are finished. A big job but a fun one for me.

I have lost 2 more pounds.
Hope everybody is doing great today.
@ more pds that's great!!, the basement is this all before Christmas?

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a naked tree at home.

:rotfl:

I've found my home!! I never knew what a thread killer was, but after reading several pages of this thread, I am a thread killer!

Can I join? Pretty, pretty please? I promise I'm not mean, I play well with others, I mind my manners, and I'm funny. (Well, funny looking, but since you can't see me, just assume I mean funny!)

:welcome: You found a great place!

Hi Everyone, Just dropping by to let you know I did NOT fall off the planet. Having to work now to make up for all the fun planning and having that last trip. I'm stealing 20 minutes to try and catch up a bit here while the DH takes the kids to see a musical.

We're hunkering down for snow today - supposed to get at least a foot in the next 24 hours, maybe more. I like snow for Christmas, but this is a bit uncalled for.

Talked with the DH this morning about when we should book that first Disney cruise. He's thinking just over a year from now - not sure if I can wait that long. Are any of you veterans? Where should I look on the Dis Boards for tips?

We have taken 2, by know means am I a expert, but feel free to ask away:goodvibes . I knew more the 2nd time, then the first time we went. Which was our first cruise ever. So I would be happy to give you hints, or try to answer any other questions.

Magikitty, 9 inches of snow:eek:. Glad your safe and sound, actually if you can get to malls, it's the best time to shop:laughing:. Try Deb shops every color someone could want! How's was that important meeting? that kept you away from the TK's:rotfl: Hope all went well.

Okay, I think I caught up, and i am pleased to say no more naked tree:dance3:. Well sort of, lights all 1000 + are on only had to make 2 trips, since I ran out of lights. I think the tree is thicker this year:confused3. Beads ( use beads instead of garland) are on:thumbsup2. Now, just need to get the ornaments on!! Did bring DM her tree, and finish setting up her Snow Villlage. We could or could not get snow so I wanted to make sure her tree was there and up (well I mean in the stand). I need DH for that, and I can always go over Mon. and do her lights, beads, and high branches of ornaments. I really am hoping no snow or if it's snow let it be snow! Once again we're where is suppose to turn over to sleet then rain. But if it doesn't turn, then I have sleet:scared1:. So just in case Mother Nature is checking on what I would like:rotfl:. I prefer, right now w/so much to do nothing! If we do have to get something, give me rain or snow, just no ice/sleet Please:wizard:. Okay, TK'ers need to check about 40 emails, of course checking in here in my first priority:goodvibes, try to check back later. Been going to sleep early:confused3, strange but true.

Rochmom- did you check for a cruising forum here on the DIS? There seems to be a forum for everything there should be one for cruisers. :goodvibes
Since some have admitted to not having perfect angels for children I guess I'll admit to having a daughter. I also had to pick her up at the police station once :scared1: so you're not alone whgrn :flower3:
My Christmas tree now has lights but still no ornaments. The baking is done. Now I just have to wrap gifts.

Don't worry still no ornaments, plus no wrapping done and more shopping to do!! Then my DM's tree, and forget about baking so :cheer2: to you on the baking. Every year I say I will be done early and it never happens. I could make up ton's of reasons, but I am beginning to think that it is just how I do things. I will say, I would like to see if I could do it another way. You know, no money, time, sick kids, etc issues. Oh that's right, that's in the movies:rotfl:
PS DS just went to bed, but asked when the ornaments were going on?

Baking? You've gotta be kidding! That is one road I do NOT go down. I mean, hey, my thighs are thunderous enough. And if I bake, I will eat. And no one else here will eat, and I have no one to gift them to, and nowhere to bring them to, so I will eat them ALL:scared1: Therefore, I DO NOT BAKE!

That said, I DO have to make one batch of cookies for my Bible study group party on Thursday. I figure the kids and I can make my Mom's Coconut Snowballs--easy and yummy, and different.

We did minimal decorating this year. The tree went up last weekend, just a small one, and all my Christmas pictures of the kids through the years, and all my Longaberger Christmas baskets. Other than that, there's a wreath on the front door and a big red bow on the lamppost. Oh yeah, and I finally found a blowup Nativity thing for the front yard, so that's up too. Not much, especially around here where people really go all out for every holiday. Heck, until I put up the Nativity, anyone going by would have thought we were Jewish! (altho even some of our Jewish neighbors have blue and white lights up, and I saw the cutest "Hanukkah Bear" blowup, holding a driedel!) I'm serious though, these people deck out for Halloween and Easter like it's Christmas! I never saw anything like it. I can't begin to compete, so I don't even bother to try.

Hey, if DS is asking about ornaments, he must be doing OK, right?!?

Congrats, what a great Aunt, question?? Akerhouse, where is it?

Thanks:) , it's in Epcot, Norway.
It really is a great breakfast (ranked#2 behind Cinderella'sCastle at #1). Lunch is highly recommended too.
There are a ton of princesses. Cinderella is not there but we saw her several times anyway. Really good food too.
DH liked it too-or was that because of Jasmine's costume hmmmmmmm.

Yeah, I like their truffles. But I'm a HERSHEY'S kinda girl. Pure, sweet and creamy. Yup, that's the way I like my chocolate!

WAY TO GO
with the "pure, sweet and creamy" comment :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Now I not only WANTChocolate....I MUST HAVE IT NOW!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I wonder why my little weight ticker won't move???? :confused3

Yea! Hershey's!!! :cool1:
I'm a Hershey's girl myself. (Grew up going to the park in the summer... still try to go at least once a year.) A plain old Hershey bar will do it for me any day. A Krackle if I need to spice it up a little, and, of course, a Symphony bar if I'm really feeling indulgent.

Gosh I need chocolate... they need better vending machines at work...

AHHHHHHH!! Must have chocolate!! haha

Thanks:) , it's in Epcot, Norway.

My best friends husband (just as big of Disney freaks as we are) LOVES Princess meals. :lmao:

We have been to Akershus twice already (breakfast and dinner) and it's a pretty good meal. If you can't get CRT, it's a great alternative.

DD11 never got to make our cookies today. I forgot to buy butter. Now tomorrow when the wind and ice storm comes through, they can spend the day baking. :goodvibes DH can supervise while I download and edit pictures from the DB wedding. They got married in June and still nobody has any pictures from the wedding except from what we took ourselves.

Love Hershey's candy too. We always try to take one trip per year out to Hershey park and, mostly for me, to go in Chocolate World. Love dark chocolate and that is the only place I can dark chocolate syrup.

disney54us-you sound like me every other year. I swear every year something happens at Christmas and I always end up behind in everything I want to get done. But we always make sure it gets done, don't we? That's just what we do. And thanks for the hug. But next year, they will all be in school, youngest DD will finally start kindergarten .

whgrn- we got a break this weekend with DS. He went to visit with his mom and the stress level is down a little. Still leaves us with 3 girls and boy can they fight and argue. We have tried the point system with DS before with no such luck. Hope you have better luck than us. This is the first year we have decorated early. We usually put the tree up the Sunday before Christmas and take it down a few days later. This year we actually put lights on the windows and of course, thanks to MagiKitty, we have our Mickey wreath. And I don't bake anymore. I've been teaching DD11 for a while now so she only needs supervision at this point. And they all love cookies so I lucked out there. I'm only required to eat the ones left out for Santa now.:rotfl2:

Have a good night every one.

Lots of snow and sleet here. All four events on today's calendar were cancelled, so I have several found hours to catch up on stuff.

DD13 and I are making a French yule log cake. DD's French teacher sent home a complicated recipe and promised extra credit to any kid who brings one in. DD already has a A+ in the class, but we all know moms are suckers for this kind of thing. So that's in the second of three stages, cooling in the very cold garage at this point. Have orange-coconut cookie dough chilling in the fridge, and laundry rolling in the other room. Finally got the photo cards back from the processor last night - their computer system crashed the day I placed my order, so the order was lost in limbo for seven days. Thank goodness I use labels and wasn't planning to write notes!

Found a whole DIS forum for cruising, will have to spend some time over there in a few days.

House is mostly decorated, wrapping is done but bows need to go on. Having eight friends over for dinner Tuesday night. Am I insane, or what? At least I limited the menu to soup and salad, right?

I too am welcoming an icy sleeting mess today. Brutally cold, I've given up on shovelling anything for a while.

Have lovely piles of magazines to dive into.

Welcome back blamemysister! Six inches of snow to come home too, just turn around and run back to Disney!

Mmm..cookies. I should bake too. But I too have no one to share my goodies with (except for the dog) AND I ordered from Cheesecake Factory for delivery later this week. I should save my calories (yeah, right!) Rochmom, let us know how the Yule turns out!

House is decorated, shopping done and wrapped, just awaiting some packages to be delivered this week, delayed by the storms in the Midwest. Have got lots of returning of rejected dresses, and am hoping that David's Bridal will be dress nirvana. Now I just have to wait until there's a lull in the weather to get out and battle fellow shoppers!

Stay warm and safe inside, everyone.

welcome back blame my sister
We have cold (in the 20s) mornings but no precipitation since Monday. :santa:
This is the only time I bake. I don't bake because we don't need the calories either but this is Christmas! I'll cut back again after the holidays.
My DH loves chocolate. One of these days we're going to have to go to Hersey. I'll have to make him walk home to work it off. :rotfl2:

Finally stopped snowing here too. About 5'' of the "lovely white stuff". (Getting a little tired of shoveling that white stuff) Now it's just :cold:

It's my DH and my B-day!!!:cake: Yeah! party:
We're off to have our birthday meal and enjoy some delicious Candy Cane pie for dessert - 520 calories per slice of pure heaven. It's the kind of food that makes you want a cigarette afterwards (and I don't even smoke) :smokin:

Have a great day everyone!!!:joker:

Ooops, sorry to tempt you!

I've had very good luck with David's. They have a wide variety in their selection, and if you can find something off the rack there, you're good to go!

It's my DH and my B-day!!!:cake: Yeah! party: We're off to have our birthday meal and enjoy some delicious Candy Cane pie for dessert - 520 calories per slice of pure heaven. It's the kind of food that makes you want a cigarette afterwards (and I don't even smoke) :smokin:

:bday: D&DDisney!!! How cool that you and DH have the same b-day!

dreamininPA So far, so good. DD has 35 points, DS has 30. It's been much better around here the past few days. Today I had a killer sinus migraine, and I asked them to please play quietly so I could rest. They did so for over 2 hours, and then DD made dinner, set the table, got herself and DS fed, and they both took showers! I'm really impressed! Guess the threat of no Christmas got them moving!:lmao:

VERY windy and cold here--it's really howling out there. I had to have DS unplug our blow-up Nativity so it doesn't blow away. I'm almost afraid to let DDog go out to tinkle--at 11 pounds, HE might blow away!!:scared1:

Hope ya'll had a great birthday, party:

:pixiedust: Happy Birthday D&DDisney and Husband! Neither one of you can claim that you "forgot" the other's birthday...let us know how that candy cane pie--I've never heard of it and it sounds yummy!

whgrn...sorry about the migraine, but good for you re: DD and DS! Sounds like they're really "gotten" the points system. In truth, you're teaching them far better skills and lessons than just being good for Christmas. They'll thank you someday! And watch out for the DDog, he just may blow away! I have a huge Rottie mix who just was like "I don't think so" when it was time to go out yesterday.

Stay safe everyone! The sun's found its way out, just may have to shovel again. Grrr....
