I was a long time lurker until a few months ago...in the time since, I've worked my way up to Mouseketeer (yeah!). I've answered some questions, offered suggestions, yet whenever I seem to have a question or start a new thread, I go unanswered! This has happened at least a dozen times...have I been blacklisted or something? Am I the unofficial thread killer?

Yes. Everyone got a PM stating that we are to ignore any and all of your posts. :lmao: Just kidding!

I know what you mean. I've started posts before & sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who can see it. If you really want to get some attention, post something controversial on the community board & see what happens! :scared1:

(Just kidding - there are, sadly, some really mean people on the DIS - so I probably wouldn't do this.)

Thank you thank you for answering me! At least now I know I'm not invisible!

Yes, I've seen some of the nastiness that goes on some of the threads. It can get really hairy.

I feel so much better now. Silly, I know. I shouldn't take it so personally...I just think that maybe my questions are sooo stupid that it doesn't deserve an answer or that maybe there is no answer to be had. Oh well.

Thank you again. :yay:

You're fine. I've been there myself, wondering why some silly threads have tons of replys and others a few. Perhaps you should start what you would consider a pointless thread and I bet you get a ton of responses. :rotfl2:

 Hey.... let's make it this one. Retitle it the Pointless Thread and we could all post catch phrases that might attract the attention of the Tag Fairy. How's that for an attention getter????

Been there! I too have wondered how some threads actually have so many posts when others got left unanswered.

At least we know we all are not alone.

I totally know what you mean! I lurked for a long time and so far i only have like 12 posts.

so now you've been answered a bunch of times!!

i agree - "pointless thread" would get a thousand replies!

Oh yeah! I feel like the Prom Queen....three replies in a short period! Thanks for making my day (I know, so sad). Its so nice to know I'm not the only one who's felt this way...

Ok, what's the Tag Fairy? I've seen it before, I thought it was one of those "Insider jokes". There really is such a thing?!

If I knew how to retitle this thread, I would...just to further this little experiment. I know how to post, that's about it. Not really a newbie, but definitely tech-phobic.

It all seems to be in the title. Although, I've had the same experience.

A few times I've been tempted to "bump" myself. :lmao: Just to see if it gets noticed a second time around... (And to make that little "0" under replies go away... Darn you little zero. :rotfl2: )

Whaddya' wanna bet this is the thread that takes off? 5 months from now it'll pop back up to the top w/ its 300th page. :rotfl:

C'mon everybody! Keep it going. We will break the thread killer stigma!

Hey, I've been around here almost eight years, & I still hesitate to post a thread for fear no one will respond!

Yeah, what IS a Tag Fairy??? Oh, and don't worry if your threads are "ignored" - sometimes that can be a GOOD thing (as Martha would say, and its a GOOD thing she hasn't seen the inside of my house lately!! :scared1: ) - because then threads such as this can generate pages worth of merry mayhem!!:dance3:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Well prom queen... the tag fairy is this invisiable fairy that goes around and puts sayings under your avatar picture...

Does the tag really exist?!??! How really knows!!! :lmao:

I'm assuming the Tag Fairy puts NICE THINGS under your avatar? I have to look into this...its fascinating.

Last count: I posted four new threads today (sorry, but I'm leaving at the end of the week and have gotten thoroughly flustered and confused). Three have gone unnoticed/ignored and one very successful one!

I agree....THREAD KILLERS UNITE!

While we're at it, let's Boo, Pixie Dust, Gobble, Frost, or whatever else is going on each other! I have no idea what the benefits of it are, aside from it being some sort of popularity gesture....I saw some people who were Boo'ed to bits!

PS--if you're too embarassed to bump yourself, I'll be glad to do the dirty work for ya!

I'm a tag killer too. Sometimes I feel like everyone talks around me.
Today when I saw a thread with no response, I opened it. It was about Disneyland. I know nothing that could help that person but I knew there was a DL forum so sent her there. I didn't like seeing the 0 responses.
I think we need to make a pledge. We should make a point to respond to all the low count threads---even if just to say I don't know.
I got my post count up by saying welcome or hi to newbies. It got me started.
And I have seen people bumping themselves. :dance3:

:rotfl:
I have another question - what does "bumping" mean? I see that a LOT.

Thread killer no more!!! :lmao:
bumping just puts the thread on the top of the page... people bump their own thread when no ones answers hoping for someone to answer...

I also love the idea of making a point to answer anyone that says we dont know if we dont.. this way nobody feels lonely! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think on a Forum this large it's really easy for things to get buried. People get their favorite threads, then don't take the time to respond in the others. It's hard to respond to every thread. I already spend waaay too much time on here just responding to the couple I've taken interest in...

I think the reason I opened this one was because of the title. "Thread Killer"... catchy... you should go on Broadway...

As Edith Bunker would say: Ooooooohhhhhh....

and how 'bout a group hug smilie???:grouphug:

I feel like a fairy godmother....I'm taking this idea of just responding to the other ZEROS. Such a nice gesture. Although, I do suppose that someone may get angry that my reply isn't really one at all...

I just replied to a fellow zero on the Budget Board about DVD recorders...I don't know squat about them, but offered some places to start looking for other people's opinions on them. I suppose I do risk looking stupid, but at least I tried!

I feel so warm and fuzzy now. :grouphug: But now I can't tear myself away from the computer! I'm not used to getting responses! :rotfl:
