We just returned from a week at the Vistana Villas. We stayed in Building 7 of the Springs section and I thought I would share my thoughts for others considering this resort. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend it if the two cons are acceptable to you. Some background. This was my families 4th trip to Orlando and the first trip we did not stay on property at Disney (previous Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club and Saratoga Springs). We went to Orlando for a volleyball tournament for Sunday thru Wednesday and then three full days of the parks Thursday through Saturday. The tourney was at the Orange County Convention Center. The non-volleyball player and I spent two days at the parks on Sunday and Tuesday while my wife and youngest joined us at the parks the last half of the week. Now for the pros and cons:
Pros:
-The resort was great. Clean, spacious and comfortable. We had a two bedroom Villa with an entrance right into the Springs pool area. A lovely screened in balcony overlooking the pool. The first bedroom had two full beds and the second room was a huge master with a king. There was also a pull out sleeper sofa that was a typical pull out. Room says it sleeps 8. In reality, I think it would be good for 4, maybe 5 if someone would brave the pullout
-The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cookware. The furniture was comfortable and well maintained. Very much equal to Beach and Saratoga.
-The price could not be beat. $139 a night booked through VRBO
-10 minutes to the parks and Disney Springs. Commuting to Disney was easy.
-The staff was incredible. Always friendly and helpful (even when they were kicking us out of the pool area at 10). There were two other pools open until 11
-Very well insulated rooms. We never heard anyone else or the noise from the pool.
Neutral:
The dining on site was fine, but a bit pricey. Several options close by (depending on traffic).
Cons:
Two major drawbacks.
-The traffic on the main road outside the complex was a nightmare in the afternoon. I mean 25 minutes to go 1 mile. You are forced to turn left outside the property and cross three lanes to make a U-Turn to get going the correct direction to I-4. This made it impossible to get anywhere between 4-6. With an accident one night, we were basically locked into the resort.
-The WiFi is awful except first thing in the morning or late at night. Impossible to stream anything. Verizon service was awful very bad. There was a router in the unit, but it was tied to a light switch. We did not realize this until the third day and kept turning it off when we turned off the lights. Even when it was on, the WiFi was very bad. I know some people just want to unplug (and I wish I could have done the same) but if you need access to WiFi or cellular data, you should look elsewhere. We could not even maintain a phone call on Verizon. This is a major drawback and was so bad, I would not return it was addressed. And that pains me to say because I liked virtually everything else about it. It baffles me that Sheraton has not addressed this in a better manor.
Happy to answer any questions.

We stayed for a week in March. I love this resort and this is the fourth time I've stayed here. We were OK with wifi out on the patio/balcony (found our best reception there for getting morning lightening lanes -- worked fine there, but not in other areas of the condo) . The constant going right and making a U turn got really old - I so concur with you on that. Next time we do a timeshare trade to Orlando as much as I absolutely love the Sheraton Vistana, I think we'll do Cypress Pointe or Cypress Point Grand Villas -- Can get a three bedroom instead of a two bedroom, and there we won't have the U turn issue. I've done three previous stays at Cypress Pointe and one at the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas and have always really enjoyed this resort and the location. I think the Vistana is nicer than these in terms of landscaping and amenities, but these are perfectly lovely, and I just won't to do that ugly U turn again -- got so burned out on doing that. I should note that I'm in my 60s now, work from home now instead of doing daily city traffic, etc., and I am more of a weenie on driving than I used to be. I also, and I was with a party of six, was the only person on the minivan rental contract which means I didn't get to share the driving with anyone else. That could be part of my burn out on this too.

Just to point out that the right then U-turn isn't really an issue. There is another on ramp to the I-4 on World Center drive. Turn right, turn right at the next light and the ramp is up a block (past Marriott World Centre). I would never make the U-turn, and rarely find the two rights to be a slowdown.

ETA: and if going to the Outlet, try going right then left at World Center and left again on I-Drive. A bit longer, but a lot quicker.

Also, not much that Vistana can do about Verizon's service. The provider owns the towers, and if they aren't servicing the area properly that's a Verizon problem.

Yep, I agree the lack of service is not Vistana's problem, but the WiFi problem is. I just wanted to let people know of the issue ahead of time so they can make an informed choice. For many it will not be a problem, but for others it might have them look elsewhere. I personally found it frustrating but others might have better luck (or better service from another carrier). But the Wifi issue is definitely something Sheraton can and should invest in fixing.

The only downfall of getting on I4 at World Center Drive is that the area of I4 is almost always congested with traffic as it drop down a lane at 535. If you can get on I4 east at 535 it is a little easier as you have all the way till Central Florida to merge over. I4 west is best to get on at World Center, but we still avoid I4 at all cost. I4 traffic through that section is horrible all times of the day. However, if we are going to the outlet mall or that area, we will will often go down to World Center Drive and make a left then a left on International as you say. Almost everything is easy sailing with that route.

I reported on the WiFi problem back at the end of April. I can't beleive it is still an issue now. I had heard they had resolved the issue, but I guess not. This is a huge problem and it doesn't look like we will be booking any stays at Vistana Resort any time in the near future because of this.

Good to know. Might get me to try the Vistana again, as we love the resort.

Disappointed to hear about the wi fi. That has been mentioned several times on another thread and someone else reported it had improved significantly. Maybe with it being peak holiday season now in the area - at least with Florida schools off - the wifi is getting overwhelmed. Difficult decision for us - we really need the space and quiet given some sensory issues with our daugther. It is the perfect resort in that regard. But we aren't getting a car for various reasons so will rely on Uber and Lyft. I suppose the morning is most important - that will be the only time when we will really need it in a time sensitive way - to get to the parks for rope drop and using Genie +. But what about 4G internet? Does that work?

Yup, I heard that the Wi-Fi issues had been resolved too. Just reviewed some trip advisor comments and some had no issues, some said it was terrible.

I wonder if it depends on the area of the resort.

They need to fix it for everybody.

DH really only wants to stay at SV anymore. I don’t remember the road numbers, but turn right, turn right again and go into WDW by the road less traveled seems quicker and is definitely less stressful. He/we love having a separate bedroom and living area so we can each have our down time—him at night, me in the morning.

We were there June 4-18 ln Fountains 1, building 12 third floor. I had no problems with Verizon and wifi worked fine up until June 16 or so, when it went down again. They sent out a notice saying it affected some villas. We loved the stay and know all the shortcuts to avoid the u turn. Can't wait to go back.

Looking at the map, this is the first choice I would have made. Especially if going to the Disney parks and Springs. I also hate left turns, unless I absolutely have to.

I'm staying at SVRV next June. What's your recommendation for making a right turn onto S Apopka Vineland Rd? Is it pretty easy to make the turn from Vistana Centre Drive or Vistana Drive? Or is it better to use Meadow Creek Drive where there's a traffic light?

No need to go to the light at Meadow Creek for right turn. At worst you are waiting for the traffic to stop at that same light to create a pause for the other two roads, but in general there are enough gaps in traffic in the near lane to make the right pretty quick. Where our villa is located has us exiting by Vistana Drive as our usual exit.

They have lights installed at Meadow Creek and the two entrances/exits for SVR. They weren't working the last time we were there, but I suspect they are to help aid people turning left into the resort and onto Meadow Creek. So those should also aid those turning right out of the resort.

I stayed between 11th-25th August at 2222 Cascades. I can report wi fi and cellular were rock solid throughout my visit. My kids were able to play Roblox and all their apps and videos without any problem. Uber was brilliant - they were able to come in without problem and pick me up from outside my apartment. The location was perfect - opposite the Cascades pool and the Market place. Short walk to Zimmies. 5 star from me.
