Thoughts on first stay at SSR

is the main pool with the slide going to be closed for refurbishments? i was tinking of going down in april and that would be a drag cause I was really looking forward to enjoying the pool

The main pool is back open in April. Only closed the whole month of March. Rumour has it DVC is pretty booked though so might want to get on that soon!

We decided to go down to Disney for spring break in april sort of spur of the moment earlier this month. I got waitlisted for *any* studio at *any* DVC :goodvibes and SSR just came through for us this week.

Our home is VWL and this will be our first stay at SSR, and we're excited. We love DTD and are looking forward to not having to park our car there (always a total drag), especially with the monster spring crowds.

Can anyone tell me where the best place to request is for close proximity to the water slide?

My DD's are water slide and pool *obsessed* and I know we'll be spending a lot of time at it this trip to avoid the park crowds :crowded: .

The pictures that SueM posted look just like our bath. Thanks for posting those!

I think Springs and Grandstand are equally close to the main pool with slide. Grandstand also has it's own "quiet pool" with a little kiddy splash area and a pool bar.

We were in Congress Park from 1/23-28 in a 1 bd and it was great. We were at the end of the building around the corner from the rest of the rooms and we had a view of Cirque d Soleil and DisneyQuest from our balcony.

The resort was great as always. It was the crowds that blew me away. Thankfully we knew how to manipulate the fast pass system and were able to ride most of the big rides without much wait but most of the standby lines were 60min plus. Fantasmic was full within a 1/2 hr of opening (1 hr before the show) Most people did not have English as their first language. Many Brazilian tour groups. It was an interesting trip.

Funny, we were there in November. We stayed in Grandstand. I have to tell you that it was our quietest trip at WDW ever. At other resorts we heard kids running in the hallways and other noises at all hours of the night. I just thought that was because we were in a hotel and rooms are so close together. But, at SSR we never even passed anyone in the hall or going or coming out of our building the whole time! It was a very quiet building or time of year for us!

we just returned home last night-darn. We were in two bedroom in Congress park-end unit and it was extremely quiet. We had view of DTD-Fultons.

We were at SSR December 8-12 for our first DVC trip. We stayed in Grandstand and never heard any noise from the hallways or adjoining rooms. We saw other people at the bus stop or in front of the resort but never in the hall ways. All in all a very quiet and pleasant trip.

You're welcome.
I don't know why they don't add any small shelves around the sinks. People using wheelchairs have even more need for having their stuff in easy reaching distance than people without disabilities do.

Nice to hear good things about SSR. It used to get beat up pretty bad here on the boards. It seems lately, once someone acually stays there they tend to like it. We love SSR our home and are looking forward to our second F&W stay in October.
