While sitting poolside at Old Key West resort last week.

So it is about 8:30pm and I'm watching my kids swim in the pool when I notice a very drunk women. She is staggering all over the place with drink in hand. I'm thinking it is no big deal until I realize she is the only one "watching" a very young child (3yo) who is swimming in the pool.

After a while she tells the young child that she "will be right back." She then leaves the pool area and returns about 10 minutes later with a fresh cocktail. I notice that the child is calling her Nana and figure out she is the grandmother. As she walks by with the child she stumbles and falls down in front of me (without spilling her drink) nearly falling in the pool. She takes the young child to the hot tub and hangs out there with the child. While there the child accidentally spills Nana's drink. Nana then starts trying to save her drink by scooping up the ice and liquid back into the cup.:scared1:

A short time later she returns the child to the pool and tells her that she "will be right back." once again leaving the child in the pool. This time, she is gone 20 minutes and the young child is calling out for her "nana."

I am not the only one watching this unfold and many people are concerned.

What would you do?

I'll tell you what happened a little later...

How old is the cihld?

Way before that whole episode unfolded I would have notified a hotel employee, likely the manager or assistant. I would have waited to see if they could locate another family member or make sure that the child was in the care of anyone but that reject of a caregiver.

Wondering how old the child was and what happened!

I would be alerting hotel security and management immediately.

That's really sad. Poor kid.

can I just say if I was ever out to eat and they were filming that show I'd be pretty ticked that they ruined my dining experience for their show.

I'd definitely alert hotel security/the front desk. Maybe even call the police if need be.. but that child wouldn't be sitting there all alone anymore if it were up to me. I'd make sure of it.

I would notify a CM immediately and let them know of my concerns about the child, making sure someone fairly high up (like a manager/supervisor) was aware of the situation.

At the very least, I would have watched the child like a hawk to make sre he was safe.

OP said 3yo.

I would contact hotel management. What the OP witnessed is neglect due to alcohol impairment.

OP said 3yo.

Thanks, missed that.

Thats a baby! How the heck did all that take place before somebody did something? She left twice, leaving a 3 year old in a pool alone?

Tell the lifeguard if one was on duty or have someone tell a cm or manager, someone still needs to keep an eye on the child in the pool.

My ds is a lifeguard and if there are any unattended children he would get them out of the pool asap.

I'd have someone in my party keep an eye on the kid to make sure they're OK, and go get someone who works at the Resort. I dont' see approaching the woman or the child going well... Hopefully Security would be right on top of that.

How long is this commercial, when do we get part 2 of this story? popcorn::

I'd be watching that child, probably having DS and DD play with him or her so I could hover while DH went to get a lifeguard or management.
