It goes by state. You shoul google heslth insurance in your state and see what your options are.

I bought individual plans for my kids when they graduated college (before health reform and the revised age limit). Blue Cross Blue Choice provided what we thought was adequate coverage at an affordable price.

I just looked into this for my husband and absolutely nothing was reasonable OR good coverage. The deductibles are horrific for private insurance.

I just went through this. I purchased Humana with a 3500 deductible and copays for office visits, specialist, and urgent care. They include 500.00 worth of xray or diagnostic lab tests too. This is the first time we are purchasing individual health insurance and it is extremely confusing and hard to get information about. The cost is $729.00 a month :lmao: It makes my stomache turn but with three kids we need it. Another choice we were thinking about was suggested on these boards. It was Aetna going through costco. Hope this helps--I was in the same boat.

We have a BCBS HSA for my DH and the rate is $185 month..we had to use it quite a bit a couple years ago and it worked fine. I think I used einsurance.com to look around.

DH and kids are on a BCBS-Wellmark plan. The deductible is $3400/year and everybody's costs count toward that (not $3400 for DH, another $3400 for DD13, etc.). Before we hit deductible we pay everything (except a yearly physical might be free, I think). After the deductible they pay everything.

This just went up to $321/month- it had been $289. I figure we can swing $3400 in health care/year if we have to- we never have spent close to that much yet, but it is there if anyone has a major illness.

I found it on their Wellmark website. I don't know if it is available in your state.

I have never looked into the cost but thought it would be alot more-we pay almost 500 a month for our insurance through dh's work.It used to be around 100 and over the last few years it went up and the coverage went down.Dh works in a field where contract work is possible and he gets offers from places often but he never wants to deal with getting insurance.
