Those Disney Smells, do you ever have one?

OMG I seriously thought it was just me!:rotfl2:

Mine are pretty random. Yesterday I was walking through our sunroom and it hit me. I just love that.:wizard:

I love Yankee Candle tarts and I think Disney should come out with a line of Disney scents.:rotfl:

that smell of the humidity when you get outside the airport terminal - we're home!!!

Totally! We just don't get that kind of humidity in the U.K.

The water at WDW has a smell. It's not exactly pleasant, but I've never smelled anything like it anywhere else, so while I'm there I absolutely LOVE that smell...it reminds me that I'm home.

I know exactly what you mean! I seem to notice it the most when I walk past a fountain.

Others include:
1) The lovely sweet smell as you walk through the trees at Typhoon Lagoon. Have no idea what it is.
2) Any sweet smell drifting out of the Main Street Bakery!
3) Mexican food - I only seem to eat it in Florida.
4) The perfume I first bought on my second trip in 1996.
5) Slightly weird - air conditioning. I only just got a car with a/c, and it reminds me of driving in Florida.

I love the idea of buying a particular smelling lotion or something for my next visit that will always remind me of it.

I have the reverse memory flash when I go on the Dinosaur ride. The loading area of Dinosaur smells like the lab building at Battelle in Columbus, Ohio where I worked before starting medical school. The smell brings back lots of memories of that time.

I remember walking into my form room in school a couple of years ago and announcing "It smells like Spaceship Earth." Only one boy in there had a clue what I was on about ;)

There are plenty of other examples, where my mother or father or I have said to one another "It smells like Disney!" I just can't think of any other specifics right now.

Just yesterday I had a Disney smell. I went to the softball game at my college and the campus is right across the street from TGIFridays. And during the game the wind started blowing and the smell of the meats cooking at Fridays made the air smell like the smell of Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom. It smelled so good.

There is another one I got today as soon as I went outside it smelled like POR cause it's really raining here (it has been since last night and it will continue for awhile) and we have a flood lot (they built a parking lot on a dried up stream but everytime it rains it floods) on campus right by my dorm and it smelled like the river going through POR.

I cannot wait until I get to the World again in 63 days!

My 17 year old son texted me from school Friday to let me know he had one of those Disney smells walking down the hall by the wood shop. He said it smelled like EPCOT inoventions. This happens to us every now and then and we always refer to it as the "Disney Smell." Does anyone else have these moments or are we just Disney Crazy? Next trip is in September.

i do sometimes....my daughter tells mom how can it smell disney!!! but it has happen to me also :bride:

Oh! I get those, too! Last week I went over to see my aunt for breakfast, and we're sitting there eating and all of a sudden I stood up and shouted "It smells like Disney!" I also get it near fountians and sunscreen.

Also, I have a recording of the monorail safety tape (what they play over the intercom as you're riding) on my ipod. Every time I hear it, I go right back to some of my favorite memories. Right after we do our annual charecter breakfast, we hop on the monorial and head to Epcot. We point at the wedding pavillion, talk to the monorail driver (we always try to sit up front) and get all excited about the day ahead. It's so exciting!!!

Ah, isn't it nice when the World comes to us?

***OMG!!! It just happened again! I was in the car, and all of a sudden, I was reminded of our car rides to Disney every summer. So cool!***

The power of smell and how it brings you back to a moment fascinates me. As crazy as it seems - whenever I smell a certain type of BBQ ribs like the ones at the Outback, it brings me back to the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL. Also whenever I enter the bakery - I think of my first walk down Main Street when I arrive to WDW. Oh dear - all of these are associated with food - that can't be good. No wonder I can't loose any weight.

We often say "smells like disney!" and then snort in a large amount of air like idiots. For us it occurs out and about in public. SO normally there are other people standing around us watching the 2 or three of us *STOP*...*lock eyes*..and *SNIIFFFFFF*. hahaha they must think.. "freaks" HAHAHAHAHA and we don't care!

I love Yankee Candle tarts and I think Disney should come out with a line of Disney scents.:rotfl:

I could see them now:

Splash Mountain Water Must
Mission Space Plastic and Vomit
Grand Floridian Lobby
Dole Whip with extra Whip Topping
Wilderness Lodge Shavings Lobby
Monorail Barnyard Pastures
105 F with 80% Humidty
Flaming Tree Flamming Meat
Resort Towel with Extra Bleach
Intoxicated DTD Guest On Bus
Mickey Mouse Soap Bar
SSE Rome is Burning

HAHAHA... ...I would buy them.

We went to WDW in January for the 1/2 marathon. EVERY one in my husbands office (there are only 8 people including hubby) is going to WDW in the next couple of months as well as a few close friends and it is driving DH crazy. We decided that we will not go again this year (we are DVC members so it is easy to go several times). Since we decided we weren't going several things have happened to remind us of WDW......

1. We ran out of the soap we use and had to use one of the little bars from Disney. Ummmm....the smell....

2. We ran out of coffee so we used the little sample size from our Disney room. DH said it tasted like Disney....

3. I got sunburned on Saturday and put on aloe. My DS13 walked in at said the smell "makes me think of Disney" ha ha

4. I was putting sunscreen on my DS9 and he said "I love this smell it reminds me of Disney".

My DH wanted to scream because he wants to go back so bad:rotfl:

LOL... I think this is so funny... My mom and I are disney fanatics! Every time my mom has the craving to go back she tells me Everything smells Disney. I don't get this :rotfl2: I understand when she says a certain song sounds like Disney lol, but something smelling like Disney  Hmmm guess I'll just have to open my nose when we visit Disney this August :thumbsup2

The inside of our van (which we use mainly for trips) smells like Disney World.

However, any time I smell asphalt on a hot day, it smells like SixFlags. The summer before we were married, we bought season passes, and we went to SixFlags several times.

My 17 year old son texted me from school Friday to let me know he had one of those Disney smells walking down the hall by the wood shop. He said it smelled like EPCOT inoventions. OK- this may be not what you would expect but Lever 2000 Original Scent Body Wash. My DH and I had it in our toiletry bags for our honeymoon to WDW and our short trips. But it takes me back to the honey moon and our wonderful memories. I do not typically buy Lever 2000 except for trial size washes. So it stays special:yay:

oh... oh... I have one:jumping3:

I was cleaning with Orange glo wood polish and all I could think about was Soarin in disney...with the orange groves... ahh...:yay:

The other smell that I love is when we walk out of Orlando airport crossing the street to pick up our rental car at Alamo and they have that fountain right there.. the smell, the humidity... really makes me think yay..let the fun begin:banana:
