Thomas Cook Amex TC offer

I was passing my local branch of Thomas Cook this afternoon. They've got an offer on Amex travellers cheque cards load $2000 on it and you get another $250. I think it works out about £1200

just rang thomas cook and in the last hour they have been told to withdraw the card for 1000 & 2000 dollars and destroy their stock, have been told that a new offer will be released on 28 dec so will look out for it.

Blimey! I went in to ask about it only a couple of hours ago!

As I understand it, this offer was through Thomas Cook, but it was Amex who were actually paying for the free $. As soon as the 'fund' was used up, the offer was being withdrawn - at least that's what we were told, and it was why they couldn't give an exact expiry date for the offer.

I believe the American Expreess website is still running an offer that if you buy or reload $1000, they will give you $75 free. Not as much I know, but better than nothing. If it's a new card though, there is £20 fee for it. The link is:-

My ta said withdrawn due to a technical hitch ???? however she did say they had a release for a new deal on the 28th and she would ring me with the details, i'll let you know when i hear anything.

Thomas Cook have the offer back on for a limited time, just got my card and the free $250 should be on within 3 - 5 days, if you're getting one don't leave until the day before you go as you have to activate and wait for free dollars.

I used one of these in August and it was great -- I can reload the same card, right?

This offer makes it extremely good value - I will have to try and make a trip to Thomas Cook tomorrow. Thank you for the information!

Hi yes you can reload, i believe there is an offer on line to get extra $ or if you have a partner get them to get a new card in their name and get the $250 offer .
The rate with the free dollars worked out to be 1.85 or near, we both got a card each which gives us $500 extra dollars free, it was a £7.50 charge for the card and easy to activate over the phone, if you have money left when you get home you can withdraw at cash machines or use anywhere they take amex.
