I love the cute kids! It's the devious brats I can't stand. ;)

Your story was too cute!

Yes please add me to the thanks for sharing bunch! That was the sweetest story.....ever.

Thanks for sharing your experience, CapeGirl! Your story reminds me of my DS9 when he plays VMK - nearly every week he gets excited to re-do one or more rooms in a new theme - pizza parlor, movie theatre, arcade, etc. I love his enthusiasm. Thanks for taking on the thankless role of the CL - you do a great job :cheer2:

Thanks everyone. :goodvibes

I know the room owner was "DaisySarah". Last night I looked and didn't see any of them on again. I guess they weren't kidding when they said their time online is limited. :hourglass I will definitely be looking for them every time I sign on now though :3dglasses

Thanks for sharing that heartwarming story!!! This is why I love VMK in the first place, you can let your imagination go wild.

I used to love visiting kids rooms (but lately begging has made me stop). This is one I will add to the list.

What a wonderful story!! Thanks for sharing!!!

We should all visit them next time they are on. Get them up to three heads!!

I remember when Kris first started playing, he was so excited when he made friends with a CL. He still looks up to one player(a certain poster on this board), and is so excited when she comes into his room. He will tell me "Mom, ***** is in my room!!!". lol.

Awesome to hear about your encounter with some true Disney magic! It not only serves as a reminder to those of us who enjoy being leaders, but its a great reminder of why we play vmk in the first place! I too, would love to visit their cruise line, I've never been on a disney cruise!
I found vmk right after I got back from WDW last May. We were actually in the park the week beta launched, but never saw anything about it. Anyway, I was feeling that after disney trip let down, still craving more magic and while cruising disney.com got a pop up for vmk. I was thrilled to have my little bit of disney right here at home!

Along the same lines of reminders, I'll share a little story too. The days following the ride event, the announcement of winners, prizes, all the expressions of disappointment on the boards, etc.. I was feeling very "tainted" about vmk. Just wasn't the same. Just by chance, one of the kids on my friend list invited me to come and help break the gold ear record. I had no clue what he meant, but went anyway. We ended up in a gold ear parade on main street. I invited Mocha, and she showed up with a new staff person VMK_Flight. We had main street completely full. We danced and enjoyed the spontaneous little gold mickey ear celebration. I needed that reminder of why I spend my time on vmk. Not for credits, not for pins, magic or costumes. I'm there to enjoy and celebrate my love for disney with others who share it! Its an awesome thing! :tigger:

Wow...I loved the story... :) My maze that I have/had gave me a lot of opportunity to actually meet some really awesome VMK ers. :) I do get bothered with the actual begging part...but I usually turn it around and ask if they want some help with some games or whatever....then they either leave or say nvm :) Anyways....thanks for sharing !!

Thanks for taking the time to do that SeaSpray. My DD has limited computer time (which is also shared with Nintendo and TV). She always comments that no one ever visits her in her room. I made a character just to go visit her. It is pretty sparse, as neither of us are good at any of the games. I hope one day someone will come in out of the blue when she happens to be online and treat her as well as you did.

While waiting for dinner to cook this evening, I signed onto VMK and played a few games of Pirates with various people. Then I got tired of playing, so I looked in the "Popular Rooms" list to see if any staff games were open. There weren't. So I scrolled through the list and at the very bottom was a room title that caught my eye; "Disney Cruise Line". I clicked on it and decided to join the room.

I got there and saw a few people in the room. The room was very sparsely furnished, but the owner did her best with the few furnishings she had. There was a boy behind a water machine and some crates, dressed as Goofy. He was apparently the cruise CM working the snack bar. :teeth: Then there was a girl dressed in all red with a red Minnie Mouse shirt, she was playing the part of, of course, Minnie Mouse. :teeth: The owner was dressed in a pink princess gown; she was Cinderella. And I had arrived just in time to see Cinderella sing "When you Wish Upon a Star". Goofy and Minnie Mouse took their roles very seriously! They asked everyone to please be quiet while Cinderella sang her song. I turned and faced the stage (this room was a River boat room). Cinderella did a wonderful job singing her song, then unfortunately she left in a flash due to being disconnected.

While we waited for her to return, Goofy and Minnie Mouse again welcomed me to the Disney Cruise Line. They were very polite and friendly, and again, it was obvious how seriously they took their roles!

I chatted with them for a little while and they seemed almost honored that I, a community leader, had chosen to stop into their room. In fact, at one point, another kid came into the room and made a negative comment about it. While I was typing out "Please be nice, these people are doing very well with their cruise line room here", the person playing Goofy said "This is a good room! See? Even a community leader is in here!" That's when it hit me. There really are some people, kids or however old these were, that do respect and look up to those of us who are community leaders on vmk. I decided to hit "accept" to the friend requests that Goofy, Minnie Mouse, and Cinderella had sent. This was a nice group of kids who didn't beg me for anything, or ask me for anything. They were thrilled just to have a community leader in their room!

Before I had to sign off for dinner, I invited Cinderella, Goofy, and Minnie Mouse over to see my Cruise Ship guest room. I had been talking with them about it and one of them had sent me a message, asking to see it. When they got to my room, they were shocked and amazed to see the pirate cannon room. They had never seen that room before. They asked how I got it, and they were surprised and impressed with the things in the room. Again, they NEVER asked for anything, asked to trade, etc. They rode the river that runs through my cruise cabin room, and came back and rode it again. lol

Anyway, it was such an unexpectedly pleasant time on VMK this evening; to find a group of kids doing their best with what they had, and using their imaginations to create things in a room. Oh and another thing; I guess it's naive of me, and many others, to assume that all kids on VMK who don't have much, are simply too lazy to play the games. Some of these kids asked me when I'd be on again. I told them I'd be on later tonight. Some of them told me they are only allowed on their computers once a week, or only for an hour a day.

I'll tell you, this little encounter of mine tonight with these kids really opened up my eyes, made me remember why I applied to be a community leader in the first place, and made me glad to be a community leader. You can bet that I'll be stopping in on my new friends again :grouphug:

That is exactly what i want! I am absolutely in love with disney, and vmk. I wanted to do an internshipfor disney but i didnt qualify, and even being a Community leader for VMK i would take it as an honorable role, and just seeing it as a step closer for working for Disney. Walt Disney is literally my hearo, i want to be an amazing showcaser like him one day, and to create amazing animations. and i honestly think that being a community leader for vmk would give me the confidence to pursue my dreams.BUT when i went to apply for community leader, there was no thing saying.. apply here in the contact us, just to give your two cents on how a cl is doing!
and i will be letting vmk that you are an amazing cl!

I am closing this thread being that it is over a year old. Please if you wish to share you views or thoughts about a subject and there is not already a current thread on that topic feel free to start a new thread.
