I really can't stand when people refer to Disney World as "the world". I don't know why it bothers me so much. I just think it is so stupid. Anyone else feel that way???

I agree with you OP. I think I've caught myself doing it once or twice and slapped my fingers. It's a pet peeve that bothers me similarly to the rampant use of "ressie." I also try to avoid using acronyms to refer to my loved ones. I figure I can take the extra half a second to type out "wife" or "father." The only acronyms I use regularly are those referring to resorts and places.
The following doesn't annoy me but it does make me laugh: the tendency DISers have to turn everything into an acronym, often for good reason. It took me a while to figure out what "MNSSHP" was and once I did I realized that an acronym was likely the right way to go (who'd want to type all of that out). It still amuses me. The last time I was down in October I kept referring to MNSSHP as "minship" to confuse my family. Good times.
