It really doesn't surprise me. Anywhere you will have people spending lots of time communicating, there will always be the lonely ones who are looking for something more.

What shocks me the most (re cheating) is when it ends up being the spouses best/close friend or family member. That just seems like the most horrible, down-low betrayal.

You will find it everywhere, in churches, at the workplace, even in WDW. Sounds to me that if it hadn't been on a VMK forum, it would have been somewhere else. Very sad for your friend, she must be devastated.

One of my friend's moms did this type of thing. It wasn't the same game though. I went home with her to Russia (Dad was a diplomat) and I asked how much time she spent on the coputer playing this game. My friend replied, "It depends whether she's cheating on my Dad or not..." I was totally blown away.

Unfortunately, there was a break in the marriage. If it wasn't there, it probably would have been (or has been) somewhere else. Hopefully they will take other steps before choosing divorce. I wish her and the kids only the best. I've been through a divorce when one spouse cheated on the other. It's not pretty.... and incredibly difficult on children. for her!

I find this the most troubling too. I have actually had a "friend" tell me she wanted my husband. What is wrong with people???

That is so terrible. What a bad way to find out too. I think it would be so hard to actually read the disgusting stuff that those two were saying to each other. Virtual Magic Kingdom sounds like an innocent kids game, obviously the goings on between those two isn't so innocent. That poor woman, I hope she figures out what she is going to do.

I think it would be very easy to get into a flirtatous relationship with the way you are not really "you" on the internet. Some people make up a whole new personna. (if my spelling is bad, forgive me I am pretty tired this morning).The problem comes in when the game becomes reality. There is a very fine line that gets crossed and then all heck can break loose.

I think it is horrible that a person feels the need to even start that type of flirting with someone on line...maybe it's an ego thing, who knows. Such a shame that it can break up a family. If I saw this with my DH I would never be able to look at him again.
